CLS now or later?

I am going to get 100 dungeoneering soon, and am planning the order i am getting some rewards in and was just wondering if CLS should be one of the last i go for.

Here is what i am getting in order:

CCB

(CLS?)*

Rig

Chaotic Staff

(CLS?)*

The only reason i would get it sooner rather than later is for bandos solo. At the moment im using rapier for solo and maul for teams.

*one or the the other.

Personally i always get the items i want the most, last. Reason for doing so is that it keeps me motivated to stick to my goal. It would also depend on personal use. The Staff is a lot like the CLS in terms of usability. There's only a few places you can use it (or where they are worth using) without having to resort to unconventional methods. These places would be DKs and Ice Wyrms tasks where the use of magic takes a primary role. Seeing as you don't have the requirement for Ice Wyrms, you already have 99 Magic (canceling the possible use on the Staff on Metal Dragon tasks) i would say that the only real use you will find for the Staff is at DKs. If you DK a lot get it the staff before the CLS. Both after rigour.

If you solo a lot and find soloing more profitable/enjoyable than other things then just get the CLS. I can't imagine many scenarios where the chaotic staff would be more useful than SoL taking costs into account, so i cannot say why i'd even want one in my bank personally, but i'm sure you have plans.

I don't know if you pvp or stake, but CLS is very useful for both, even if you prefer rapier/maul, it's nice to mix it up occasionally.

Yeh the only reason im getting the staff is for Ice Wyrms. I will be 90 slayer when I properly go for 100dg so its then only a few more levels till I need it.

For the CLS your saying that I should only get it once I have the rest? Is it not that much better than CR at bandos solo?

Solo gear:

v helm

Karils top

Tassets

DFS

D boots

Fury

Fire cape

Rfd gloves (barrows)

Zerker ring + row for drop

Ddef for anticrash

Claws for spec

There is a lot of debate between rapier vs cls at graardor, but i think CLS wins by a fairly significant margin. At least a kill or two more per trip, and definatley worth the inventory space (assuming you bring rapier to kill minions)

There's no debate. CLS is better than a rapier against Graardor, and rapier is better for minions. All of this information can be found on another site.

*cough* Another site. I c wut u did der

It has been confirmed that the CLS is better on Graardor. But the question is how often you do bandos. If it's fairly often, then I'd say go for the CLS. But Rig and CCB is better for ranging, but that's specifically for Nex and Tormented demons as far as bosshunting. And you wouldn't even want to use rig on TDs as far as i know.

In your situation, i think the CLS would be the best to get.

Rig Piety for TDs is almost as efficient as Turmoil. I'd almost go as far as saying that if you're using a Uni Rig Piety beats turmoil. And if you're going to TD you shouldn't be using a CCbow anyway. CCbow is for Nex/Arma.

OP is 83 range - I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

As multiple people have pointed out - it really depends on your goals/future in the game.

I doubt you'll be going on Nex trips soon - so it might be better to go CL for bandos solos.

However, if you want to up range - I'm not sure if you would even go CCB.

You definately wouldn't use it in Kuradel's dungeon (use darts/knives) but maybe you would use it on other monsters?

I've seen a few posts in the past where rune cb is pretty close to ccb in terms of dps.

You would want to double check for sure though

To obt, i am a member of this said site but for some reason posted here.

To all, the reason i am getting ccb is because i am going to get 99 range in the very near future and do alot of bossing (bandos, arma, sara, corp and soon nex) im sure it would help with arma, maybe sara and is needed for nex (along with rig).

Thank you all for the help.
