Best melee Aura these days?

I personally believe vampirism will be the only real useful one. It's basically a permanent soulsplit that only heals 5% health instead of 20%

But that's still a lot of healing. If you have maxed stats and gear, you should easily be capable of averaging a 250 with cls on graardor, including misses. That's 15000 lifepoints healed in an hour from vampirism (75 sharks worth of healing!!!) without ever wasting time actually eating food and missing an attack turn. Even more if you count your special attacks and the higher dps you will do to the minions. Slightly less if you think about respawn times.

But yeah. Still amazing. People seem to underestimate just how amazing 5% health per damage is when you hit like a truck.

And that's at graardor. With a rapier on any slayer task, you'll be healing a lot more.

I think the interesting thing to consider that was mentioned my "Best Auras?" thread was that with the penance, you had infinite sustain in most spots with it combined with SS.

Prayer potions are 3k. I don't see myself ever actually using this as it can't keep up with constant turmoil. It's only real use is saving inventory slots by needing less prayer pots. But saving food (and healing mid fight) is far more useful in my opinion.

Another positive to mention about penance though, it would give more prayer points per damage than a divine would take off. So it's basically like having a divine without the prayer drain.

3k isn't the only issue, Powerfrog, inventory space is also an issue. With soul split + uni you can carry more healing than you can carry prayer.

Knock-out is mildly useful for glacors, as the glacytes have exactly 1000 lp and the unstable ends up at 100 lp after blowing up.

Equilibrium has much the same function. Neither really increases dps, but Equilibrium does reduce overkill like Saladin said. I'm personally most interested in this one, mainly how it interacts with Storm of Armadyl or Korasi's sword's special attack.

Vampirism will save quite a bit of health, on Graardor + minions about 5% of 144320 (22 kph) which is about 7216, about 10 brews. For slayer, this aura is basically useless.

Penance will save prayer, very little while slaying, but quite a lot bosshunting. Using about 15000 lp per hour as baseline damage taken, you'd gain about 3000 prayer, or 2.5 potions worth. That seems quite a bit worse inventory-wise than vampirism, but take into account that, for example, you barely need any sort of healing for DKS (a pro could survive on blood barrage + eee + soul split).

Reverence and Greater Reverence both save prayer, a decent/good all-round aura anywhere you need inventory space.

I don't think the raw amount of hp healed is the main issue, it's the fact that it is done without wasting time for eating food. (If prayer is really such an issue, why not use a Ghast over a unicorn?)

For most of the things where either aura would be of any use, you can't survive on just uni/soul split and would always bring extra food. I used bandos as an example because i can't personally survive there perfectly without this aura. Not everyone is maxed. Personally, i can heal a hell of a lot more prayer points per inventory slot than i can heal life points.

I'm also looking forward to seeing exactly how Equilibrium works with those two weapons and dark bow, i'm guessing they'll be overpowered for a day, everyone wastes points on it, nerfed. >.>

^^ The above assumes they work in wilderness, which they clearly won't, my mistake.

Eh. SoA will quite possibly be OP with equilibrium because it ALREADY has a minimum hit on it. Dark Bow? It will (in theory) both eliminate crappy specs AND really good specs. Considering most PVP weapons are valued for their k0 potential (which can slightly differ from DPS) I can't see it being particularly useful with anything else, except eliminating overkill.

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

That's only because you use rocktail due to not having overloads, but getting overloads doesn't take that long, and stat reduction through brewing is relatively minor when properly handled. Overloads are easier to get than loyalty points for at least the next couple of months, with herblore so cheap. I personally wouldn't spend 20k+ loyalty points on an aura I wouldn't be using for more than a month or two (also with new tiers coming out). Which I suppose might be my recommendation: save your points for tier 3 and tier 4 auras.

Prayer is much more an issue at higher levels, though GWD bosses have altars. Glacors, DKs, Nex and TDs however do not, and those are the money/money+effigy bosses.

And you don't use a ghast because a yak or even a war tortoise carries much more prayer than a ghast can restore, and it's cheaper.

If the Dark Bow hits 80-500x2 now, it'd become 205-375x2 with Equilibrium (in theory) which is a massive 410 minimum hit at 100% accuracy (and at least 400 damage regardless of soak). Unless you were using Nex gear/divine, you'd die in 3 specs, virtually no escape, and very likely in one spec. I think it would be worth using, say, a few dps hits with handcannon (130-400 or so?) followed by a dbow spec.
