Sinkhan
If I get 500 corpse cremations using my flail before I do Branches of Darkmeyer, does the increased power carry over to Blisterwood weapons? If yes, does it carry over to all of them, or just the polearm? I heard the Vanstrom fight can be a little tricky and I intend on doing some temple trekking/vyrewatch hunting for fun anyway. If it's worthwhile I'll get the 500 or so cremations before I do the quest if there's a decent benefit. Something to fill my sig with until I find a replacement. Also check out my blug
LinkOlaran
The increased power from 500 cremations effects the flail as well as the blisterwood weapons, so maxing it out before you do the quest will help. Just another note, although I'm assuming you didn't look at any guides for Vanstrom yet - when he enters his flying stage, either focus on keeping away from his blood burst attacks, or use hit and run tactics (stakes are the best thing to use here, although it's possible, albeit dangerous, to do with the polearm). If you need any more help, feel free to ask :) hope you get him on the first try, since he was a fairly tricky fight.
Sir_Squab
Honestly, it'll be easier to just kill him without the boost and if you want the boost after the quest, just get it with the blisterwood weapons. Troacctid
If you want the boost for the fight with Vanstrom, the better way to do it would be to complete the quest partway so you unlock the blisterwood weapons, then kill vyres with those to cremate 500 (because you'll kill them much more efficiently than you would with a flail), and then kill Vanstrom. Sinkhan
Ah ok, I shall do as troacctid suggests as that seems like reasonable advice. Also, is the bloodburst attack similar to the luminescent icefiend special attack? Thank you everyone for your input. Sy_Accursed
yeah bloodburst is pretty much icefiend special, but slightly less projectiles and they hit a lot harder. Sinkhan
Ok, I've started killing the vyrewatch. Is there any good place I can farm them before I actually finish the quest? I noticed one person was killing them in Darkmeyer itself, but I just keep getting teleported out. Once you finish the quest it lets you take the disguise off without being booted out, but with a bank and prayer alter readily available its not too hard to kill them in the disguise; I killed a few during the quest without any sort of supplies at all. Saradomin_Mage
I think it's possible to farm them outside the city anyway, east of Burgh de Rott where they've always been.If you're intent on killing the ones in the city then you'll have to have your disguise pieces all equipped, as you'll be booted out until you finish the quest. In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

Yeah now you have the blisterwood weapons it would be advisable to farm them east of burgh de rott where a fair few fly about and/or just inside meiyerditch wheres theres 4 or 5 along the beach line.Dunno why I didn't twig that one, did all my 500 there with flail before this new quest came out (like many I worked on the assumption that as we had made this weapon over like 3 quests it'd be handy to have it maxed for the next quest only for them to like totally retcon the whole flail as a good vyre wep) Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
Sinkhan
I wanted to kill them in Void gear, so I guess I'll kill them in Burgh if they're close enough. I'm also doing some treks so I'm getting a few from there. Just getting the permadruid pouch for the time being before I start directly farming the vyres. (like many I worked on the assumption that as we had made this weapon over like 3 quests it'd be handy to have it maxed for the next quest only for them to like totally retcon the whole flail as a good vyre wep) Next Quest: Attach Flail to Polearm = Super dual-headed spear/flail thing :) Something to fill my sig with until I find a replacement. Also check out my blug
Troacctid
I didn't get teleported out when I took off my disguise during the quest. It just made them aggressive. Read my blog | Follow me on Twitter | Track my XP
Sinkhan
That's odd. Whenever I do it, they just go up to me and say that Vanes-w/e's influence doesn't protect me there. Also a little annoying how there are so many different kinds of corpse. Neohero1972
Next Quest: Attach Flail to Polearm = Super dual-headed spear/flail thing :) Yahh, this would correct this mess with having both a flail and blisterwoode items and "justify" the introduction of the blisterwood weapons. Also a little annoying how there are so many different kinds of corpse. I also find this quite annoying as they fill up my bankspace - I choose to believe that it is some kind of bug, because anything else would just be stupid. Also, the models of each corpse are designed to graphically match the type of vyre killed, hence why there are so many different types. Sinkhan
The main thing I see is that blisterwood weapons are already pretty damn strong against vyres when they cost about nothing and giving it much more power would necessarily send them through the roof. Like I've seen people training in elite void with turm/exts and they hit massively. With a super close bank and altar, it might not be dharoking monkeys, but it's super safe, accessible, and still seems fast. The main reason is cosmetic so the wing colouring in particular matches the vyre killed; not seen any confirmation anywhere of it being to balance banking ease and this seems unlikely imo since vyres were never that far from a bank in the first place.
