  1. And then we proceeded to have the next hardmode floor glitch out so badly we nearly weren't able to finish it. Oh, and we got a second blood necklace, which despawned after I dropped it on gt for Steph to pick up. Runescape isn't a glitchy game at all, guys. >.>
  2. Baroo. Steph knows exactly what I mean by this.
  3. I am surprised (and greatly pleased) to see that this topic is still going, and there are people other than me that are still playing it :) I haven't been on here in a long time, mainly because I stopped visiting TIF once I "retired" from Runescape, but since I'm back and I managed to remember to come to this part of the forum, I decided to post. I, uh... don't exactly have much to say, but yeah. Hey guys :) Hopefully I'll remember to post here more often now... Oh, as for the controls discussion - I personally have never played the 360 version of Minecraft, so I can't really say for sure how well I'd do with a controller on it, but keyboard works just fine for me (although I remap my keys to be focused around the arrow keys, since I use those for movement).
  4. Hate to double post, but I don't think editing my previous post would cause people to reread this topic. I seem to have figured out where this bonus XP is coming from. Sometime last year, I referred a friend to buy membership, and got the bonus xp from that - but I never activated it, since I was saving it for something (likely construction). As it turns out, Jagex changed the way RAF operates. Now, it seems to be a permanent xp boost, except I only gain bonus xp when the person I recruited gains xp in that skill. So if they train... woodcutting, I'll gain bonus xp in woodcutting. Kinda glad this wasn't a glitch. And not only that, I get free xp out of the deal, which I never expected. As a reference, the page on RAF is here: http://services.rune...Friend#XP_Bonus In case you wanted a more detailed explanation. I'm not the best at explaining things clearly, so... :P
  5. I ended up reporting the glitch. I haven't tested to see if it was just a visual bug or if I'm actually gaining the bonus experience yet... I should test it and see, I suppose.
  6. The funny thing is, it disappeared from my Dungeoneering skill when I tried taking a before/after screenshot. And today, it's back. Very unusual...
  7. Going to keep this short, since I was in the middle of DG'ing. I started playing RS around when The World Wakes was released, and thus started playing regularly again. I noticed, however, that I have bonus xp available for various skills - namely, Dungeoneering, Fishing, Thieving, Runecrafting. I figured at first that this was from some sort of promotional/event thing I missed in the past half a year, so I just ignored it and kept playing. Except it hasn't gone away. I've gained well over 1M+ Dungeoneering XP since I started playing again, and it's still displaying that I have bonus XP remaining for it. Every floor I finish, it says I've used up all bonus XP for that skill, yet when I hover over it again in my skills tab, it says I still have more bonus XP remaining - different number every time, but never above 2K as far as I've seen. I've observed the XP splash at the end of the floor for DG experience, and it states I am gaining bonus XP eqivalent to what it said in the skills tab. The other skills that display bonus XP do the same thing, as far as I've experienced. I could provide a screenshot if necessary, but it'd just display a before and after of my bonus XP from doing a floor. Is this some form of weird glitch? Or is something else going on? Frankly, I'm not complaining (bonus XP is XP, after all...), but I'd like to know if this is a glitch and I should be attempting to contact Jagex to fix it.
  8. The part about the church made me lol so hard for some reason >.> I'm not really playing currently, but I'm still watching Mindcrack videos whenever I get the opportunity (Zisteau's ones, anyway). Runescape no doubt corrupted my view of video gaming in general to some degree - I'm far more efficiency oriented whenever I'm playing anything at all. That's crossed over into Minecraft extensively, although I still like building really large farms and such even if there's zero reason to do so to begin with. One such example was during my playthrough of Super Hostile: Lethamyr - I wanted slimeballs for a couple pistons so I could make... 2x piston doors (12 sticky pistons) 1x melon farm (16 sticky pistons) 1x pumpkin farm (16 sticky pistons) That farm probably took me 5+ hours to make. By the time I was done, I had an ungodly amount of slimeballs. I could've easily stopped before I even had the entire thing dug out, but I can't just leave a project unfinished, because I know it'll never get done otherwise. By the time I finished that map, I had about a double chest full of slimeballs because I kept going back for little bits of xp here and there. Oh, and all of my mining activities are in standard branch mine form (2 blocks between each branch, although 3 blocks would be slightly more efficient). Although, as OCD and extensive as some of my farming and mining activities are, I can't even begin to compare to the... insanity involved in what Zisteau builds. It's just mind boggling how far he goes to build even a "temporary" house. Can't think of anything else to say... other than I should watch more of Kurtjmac's videos. Only really seen him in one season of Ultra Hardcore (the team based one), and that's... pretty much it, I think. Far Lands or Bust interests me, but the sheer number of episodes is a bit discouraging, lol. Oh, and Pause is hilarious. Moreso because he's Canadian like I am >.>
  9. The enchantment rework is probably going to either make Super Hostile maps really, really easy, or really, really hard, depending on if we can get book(shelves) or not - the leather requirement for creating books seems like it'll balance things out a fair amount. Of course, then there's also the spawner code... additions, that Vechs talked to Dinnerbone about implementing. This includes... spawning mobs with potion effects already active, changing health of mobs (higher or lower) when they spawn, charged creeper spawners, allowing mobs to stack on each other when spawning (blaze tower turrets, but they break if you save and quit, and reload)... Oh, and change how many mobs spawn each time the spawner activates, and how often it activates. Also, silverfish now apparently do the "call for help" thing for every tick of damage they take, including poison potions. So yeah... future Super Hostile map players are probably screwed. The entire spawner code change won't do much of anything for those playing in vanilla Minecraft :P A lot of builders (particularly on the Mindcrack server - specifically Zisteau, who's videos I watch religiously) are also waiting for the new wooden slab colors, wooden stairs, etc. There's probably a ton of other stuff I completely forgot is going to be included in 1.3, since there have been so many snapshots between 1.2.5 and it, lol.
  10. Yeah, this is more or less the reasoning behind me only playing Super Hostile maps now - Minecraft on it's own lacks a goal, and I don't really have the ability to arbitrarily set goals for myself. That being said, even if I'm actively playing a map, I'm also spending a good chunk of my time in creative mode on a test world, building and testing various things - lever/piston operated melon/pumpkin farm harvesters, different formats of animal pens, etc. I attempted to create an animal pen format that I could keep several pairs of "breeding only" animals set aside, while I could pull a lever causing the rest to be flooded out of the main pen to be slaughtered (even going so far as building various methods of using fall damage and fire to try to automatically cook and kill them so I could skip that part. ... Maybe Dwarf Fortress is affecting me more than I thought >.> I've never really pulled all of my theories and builds together, though. I think I enjoy the experimentation part more than the building part sometimes, but it's still quite satisfying actually building some of this stuff in survival.
  11. I still play occasionally, but I mainly stick to using mods, or Super Hostile maps. Plain old vanilla Minecraft is just too easy and boring for me now, lol.

  13. I've seen this guide several times, but never actually got around to reading it until now, lol. I already have my trekking 'completed', but it has always been my favorite minigame, hands down - played it long before the update with the followers, in fact. Reading through everything, I'd say you did a wonderful job :) almost everything you recommended is what I would use - although I personally use the elite void with deflector setup since soulsplit provides me with more than enough healing. I think I might change out my house tele runes for my ardy cloak, though - cloak to monastery to restore pray and medallion back to Burgh sounds a bit faster than my old method (house tele, restore pray/summon, portal back to Canifis to bank). I personally wouldn't use a cannon, but I'm also extremely stingy, so that's likely why :P I can see it working, though. In terms of summons, titan would no doubt speed things up (by a considerable amount), I personally use yak with scrolls since I tend to be a packrat and want to bank everything. Only thing I would change is the recommendation on what to do with giant snails events - easy and medium paths you might be able to just use snelm on, but hard path snails seem to be far too accurate and strong to try it with - I'd prefer to just pray range on them. I've read about using rune thrownaxe for drawing aggro before (I used it quite a bit, actually), but I never thought about using korasi's sword for the same thing. The food thing I see was recommended already - sacks of cabbages or potatoes - so I won't comment more on that :P I will note that raw potatoes can't be misclicked and eaten by you, though. Last thing I wanted to note - reward tokens do stack in bank, but only with the same colored ones - so all yellow ones will be in one spot, all reds in another, etc. Same deal with the xp tomes, all red mining tomes will take one bank spot, and red woodcutting ones in another. I personally had a large hoard of xp tomes I used up a few months ago which gave me around... 350k xp? I can't recall anymore, but it's nice to be able to spam use all of them at once and see the xp rise :) Overall, an extremely nice guide, and I'd recommend it to anyone starting trekking for the first time. (it's also nice seeing someone with as much enthusiasm towards talon charms as me :P)
  14. Been a while since I posted, been a bit too busy :/ still, Ellac told me to post my findings here: First spin: 2x cowhide (discarded) Second spin: Large xp lamp (no skill specified) - chose runecrafting (level 86), and gained 20,598xp I believe the first spin's best prize was a huge xp lamp (range), and the second spin was a mystic tattoo. I'm not 100% sure on that, I was more focused on copying down the xp value from the large lamp.
  15. Posting to avoid death threats I mean, posting to follow blog :x Also, good luck on getting all three melee 99s at once :P I did the same thing, although defence lagged behind a combat turn >.<
  16. Just posting since Dan said this is where data collection is :P Today's Wheel got me: Small prayer lamp - 8065xp, at level 96 Medium strength lamp - 17,204xp, at level 99 Also of note, the two "best" rewards for both of my spins: First spin: "Auspicious Katana" Second spin: "Huge crafting lamp" If I can remember, I'll continue posting what items I get on here from now on. I'll also try to get Steph to tell me what she gets on her account, and edit this post with that info as well, unless she replies instead :P
  17. I may not have a massive amount of use for flasks since I don't boss hunt, but this is a good guide, Rend :) you did well, I know there's a few people out there who were just tossing their 1-5 dose flasks since they really couldn't use them before. Hopefully they'll stumble across this guide. If I ever get into boss hunting more, I'll no doubt be using this, since my bank is a horrible mess and I need all the space I can get lol.

Bit late to really comment on the 1.1 update (although I will say playing through hardmode was extremely fun), but I did want to comment on the 1.1.1 Holiday update fast. And before I say anything, link to the patch notes: http://www.terrariaonline.com/threads/terraria-1-1-1-christmas-update.70447/ Obviously, it was less of a content patch and more of a bugfix patch (although there's still some really nice Christmas themed stuff to play around with). The lag seems to be reduced by a bit - while I can't play in a maximised window on color lighting staying at 60FPS, I can at least stay on trippy lighting and have the quality of that up near 100% most of the time and maintain the usual 60FPS. A lot of the other fixes don't really apply to me (except them fixing wyverns, thank GOD for that -.-). (Just a warning, spoilers ahead - although I doubt anyone reading this topic can be spoiled anyway) The content part of the update, though... as long as you're updated to 1.1.1 and it's between now and the 31st (so I've heard, it lasts until the end of the 'holiday season'), all mobs can drop presents (even on old worlds, I got a number on my current hardmode world that was generated in 1.1). They can be obtained and opened regardless of if hardmode is enabled or not, but if hardmode isn't active yet, you can only get the candy cane blocks from them. You have to be in hardmode to get the snow globe from a present in order to summon the Frost Legion. Snow globes are basically the Goblin Battle Standard for hardmode. Use it, causes a similar message to a goblin invasion (except it's the Frost Legion) to appear. It takes a minute or two to arrive, however. Just a few notes about the mobs - they function as hardmode equivalents to the goblin army, so expect a beating if you get within range of their attacks. Mister Stabby I never had any issues with, since he has to get extremely close to do damage. Snowman Gangsta is the irritating one - it has a tommy gun, so expect these things to be shooting at you constantly. They seem to have a range similar to the gastropod, but they can't aim up, so you'll be safe hanging up above where they can jump and shoot across at you. Snow Balla I don't think does any damage with his projectiles correction, they do 35 damage with the snowball attack, and they can clog up the terrain fairly fast (making it easier for the others to gang up on you), so be cautious of that. Overall, easy if you're cautious about maneuvering around them, but extremely dangerous if you get down too close to them - they all do 55 with melee if they ram into you, but thankfully the tommy gun and snowballs do a bit less. I note that they also drop presents, so don't be surprised if you end up with more snow globes than you started with. I had one after opening about 40 presents with my girlfriend on our server, we used that and ended up with two more snow globes afterwards. Saving them for our new world so we can get some snow easily there + get the Santa Claus NPC to move in on that world (he sells the Santa vanity outfit as well as Christmas lights). And yes, you can create artificial snow biomes fairly easily with snow blocks - very low number it seems, considering the Snow Balla's projectiles were enough to cause some very faint snowing effects during the Legion fight.
  19. Quick update for now (may or may not have another screenie later): Missed the level 39 shot due to a misclick, but still, I'm getting there. One skill at 40, at least. Kept fishing a bit after this (at 42 now), but holding onto those level shots until I hit 45. The big problem with me blogging is the fact it requires (to me anyway) a lot of screenshots - and as Sman keeps teasing me for, I'm on dialup, which sucks for that pretty bad. Hence why I probably won't have too many screenshots, and the ones I do have will have more packed into them with editing and whatnot. Still, big levels will get their own screenshot and such, and others that I deem appropriate. Off to cook these fish now (and the raw sardine/herring I had banked from yesterday). Later, guys. EDIT: Just a quick update since no one else posted and I shouldn't double post: Was originally cut/pasting each separate levelup screen together into one big one, but I managed to lose the level 45 one (although I managed to edit one together just fine), but the final image was 1.3mb, so... uploaded this one instead. Looks better, and it's only 300kb. Dialup sucks.
  20. Hey guys, my name is Josh (or Link, if you prefer), and this is my first full attempt at a DIY account. If any of you know me, it's through my main Link Olaran - I had other accounts in the past, but none of them were really used at the time/after I joined TIF (I had originally started playing sometime in 2001, but only joined TIF a few years ago). I had originally tried a bit of DIY on there (sold off everything, kept only things like void, and went DIY from there) and had quite a bit of fun, but I knew it wasn't a 'true' DIY account. But this one will be completely DIY. Start to finish :) should be interesting, to say the least. Goal wise, I'm not one for creating massive, long term goals (besides what Steph asks, anyway >.>) since I tend to get bored of them, but I likely will be posting as regular as possible updates on how I'm doing on here. I am still actively playing on Link, plus I'm hopefully getting Skyrim soon, so I may not be updating a huge amount. But I will be trying :P Here's to hoping for a lack of half-assed, half completed goals on my part, eh? :P Anyway, enough talk. Here is a picture of my current skills tab (and yes, Steph is ahead of me again, I need to remedy that): (Skills as of Nov 13th, 2011) Up to date Total Level: 312 (Or as close to up to date as my lazy arse can remember) Not a whole lot to look at now, but hopefully I'll be making a lot of improvements soon. And now for the bank: (Bank as of Nov 13th, 2011) I'm just as bad of a pack rat as Steph is, trust me. We'll probably be tearing our hair out over the lack of space, moreso for me since I'm used to p2p bankspace on Link >.> Here is where I'll store all of my levelup screenies in hide tags inside of that skill's hide tag, all of which in the main hide tag (lots of tags, has to be organized) for those who may or may not want to see them all in one place. I don't really know, this seems to be in a lot of blogs, so, why not? [spoiler=Skills][spoiler=Fishing][spoiler=40 Fishing] Well, that's all for now. If I do end up getting Skyrim soon, I'll put a message at the top of this post as a notification so you all know I won't be updating as fast. Hopefully Steph won't get too far ahead of me if that happens, though :P Any advice or criticism is welcome - we're still both getting used to f2p again, I personally have forgotten quite a bit (seeing as my f2p experience ended several years ago, there's a lot of changes from my perspective).
  21. It took me a while to come back to this topic, my apologies. First, I'm glad to help wherever I can, particularly since I enjoy this minigame very much :) if there's anything else needed, I'll try to give it a go. Handicaps I wasn't sure on - if it were possible to check the floor completion without having to see my marker in game, you'd see that I only ever did get to floor 15 in climber mode - so I'm not too surprised if the number can go up. I can try to see if I can find what floor it does (I'm wagering a guess that it's either floor 10 since that's an even number, or floor 6, since that's when class A bosses can start to appear), but honestly, I have the worst luck with handicaps, lol. As for the gloves, I admit, I probably jumped to conclusions - the gloves certainly feel like they last a lot longer than an hour, but one would have to consider banking, taking loot, etc. It could easily just be an hour, it might not. I know I've heard that the number of specs that the gloves do has an effect on how long they last (wiki source, probably, so not completely reliable), but something like this would require a bit more testing. My thought was, that task had taken me 3 uni pouches, and I know I spent a lot of time in combat - I can't say how long (considering how boring of a task it is, you can't blame me >.>), but it could still be an hour. Thanks for the responses, guys. I'm glad to help where I can, but incorrect information is just as useful as no information at all, lol.
  22. Just a few things I wanted to correct that I saw in the guide (excellent guide so far, by the way - very informative about how the tower works). The handicaps max actions for re-rolling/nudging is 3, not 4 - I went to re-test this a bit ago, the number you start with (3) is the max. If you don't use any, upon completing a floor it'll tell you that you already have the max number of actions for handicaps. Lifesaver doesn't just restore LP - it also restores prayer points to maximum. I still need to test and see if it can cure poison and/or disease as well, but restoring prayer is confirmed. Should also see if it restores reduced stats as well, now that I think of it... I was going to comment on the dominion staff as well - I originally thought that it functioned like the dominion crossbow, and required the runes to be in your invy, it just didn't consume them - but further testing proved that to be wrong. The rune saving ability of the staff only displays inside of the boss room (*/X displayed for current runes/runes required for spell) - outside, it has zero effect. Guess you learn something every day :P May also want to comment and say that the max credits one can have to spend on Dreadnips and the Goliath/Swift/Spellcaster gloves is 15 (75 boss kills). This may be stated in one of the images which didn't load for me (dialup sucks for loading images, by the way). I'd list some comments about what I noticed about the gloves and Dreadnips as well, if required - it's not directly related to the tower, but still useful to know. I'll put it in a spoiler (this is personal experience, it may not be completely correct): [spoiler=Gloves/Dreadnip Comments]Swift Gloves - I never really noticed a connection between damage and when the special effect activated - I saw several shots where it activated on a 0 hit, so it may just be completely random when it does activate. Probably beneficial to test further. The second hit doesn't seem to have any sort of guaranteed damage, either - it's just a second shot, so it can hit 0 just as easily as the first shot. Also, if you use Swift gloves with a dominion crossbow, the secondary shot will use ammo. Goliath Gloves - I seemed to hit around 100-120 with the special attack, and it also seemed to bind opponents in place for a few seconds (didn't time it since I rarely was in a situation to see how long it lasted). The special seems to have a range of around 4-5 squares - so anything within a radius of that seemed to be able to be hit by it. Dreadnip - They attack very slowly (wiki states maul/2h speed), and can hit extremely hard - I've seen several 400s (wiki states up to 550 max), poison starts at 108 damage, and they can stun. Seems to be completely random when they decide to attack, poison, or stun, though. This is potentially a glitch, but I should state it anyway (may or may not have been patched already). If you go to attack something (and hit it), but something else aggros onto you, a Dreadnip can target either monster. I only had this occur in the Brimhaven resource dungeon with iron dragons - go to attack one, different one attacks me, and I could have the Dreadnip attack the first one - it couldn't attack me, so it just kinda wandered around with the Dreadnip following it. The moment the one I was attacking died however, it turned to attack me. This may be considered a glitch, hence why I didn't pursue testing it further. I'd also like to state that I doubt the gloves last for only 1 hour of combat - I had one pair of goliath gloves last for an entire task of mutated jadinkos (200 mutated male jadinkos, to be exact), and still had a bit of charge left. Hopefully my information helps. If you're planning on writing a more in depth guide as to how to do the tower's endurance mode, I could try to help with gear and inventory setups. EDIT: Just a quick addition, this may or may not be helpful (thanks to Sman for reminding me) - Karamel, the boss, has the ability to drain stats/special attack with her ice barrage attack. The problem, is that she can drain the Dungeoneering stat as well - but, for some reason, the Tower doesn't restore it along with other stats at the end of each floor. Be aware of this, I suppose. It shouldn't bother too many people, but she can drain it down pretty low over time if you're doing a lot of floors and get Karamel/Gelatinnous Mother a fair number of times. EDIT 2: Managed to get Lifesaver and Poison handicaps together. Got Lifesaver to activate, didn't do anything to the poison. Should test for restoring reduced stats next, I suppose. After I get Lifesaver on it's own, since I had a few other irritating handicaps to deal with as well.
  23. I wish I could've been there, but my client hasn't been working at all today :/ not to mention I haven't been feeling well, either, but... Grats, Ami <3 Hopefully I'll be able to catch up soon enough, eh? :P
  24. Yea, I was lagging too severely to be able to respond - I've dc'ed a few times, but I'm not sure if that means I can't actually go on the server and play or not yet. I'll be trying it again later, I need to log off shortly. It seems to be loading fairly fast, but Minecraft has a tendency of forcefully dc'ing me if it takes too long to do so, so maybe if I keep trying it'll eventually load it all without any issue. Really hoping I'll be able to join - although I do wonder just what you guys will do for items that we can't get normally (slimeballs, etc). I'd vote for spawning stacks and having some sort of shop or something, although we don't really have a currency/shopping plugin... Well, I'm really happy to see this is back :)
