  1. Managed to connect just fine, I'm not sure how laggy it'll be beyond that, but I'll try to connect again and see if I can actually talk. It seems to be loading fairly fast, so I guess it's looking good :)
  2. Already joined and signed up at the new website. Posted my application, but I'm going to hop on for now and see what it looks like, lag wise. Not sure what version Minecraft the server's running, but I have 1.8.1 and 1.9 Prerelease #4 already downloaded, so I shouldn't have trouble getting on.
  3. The increased power from 500 cremations effects the flail as well as the blisterwood weapons, so maxing it out before you do the quest will help. Just another note, although I'm assuming you didn't look at any guides for Vanstrom yet - when he enters his flying stage, either focus on keeping away from his blood burst attacks, or use hit and run tactics (stakes are the best thing to use here, although it's possible, albeit dangerous, to do with the polearm). If you need any more help, feel free to ask :) hope you get him on the first try, since he was a fairly tricky fight.
  4. I personally ended up grinding out easy paths with them to get them to level 99, but it took a fairly long time - they only generally leveled once every trek/every other trek. I'm unsure how quickly they would level on medium path treks, but it's worth trying both to see which may be faster. And be prepared to curse at Rolayne, he tends to charge into combat events and get himself injured fairly quickly >.>
  5. Funnily enough, I've never been followed by cretins looking for "bots" to report. I was called a bot by one person at glacors recently, though. Kind of a shame, considering it pissed off several other people I had been chatting with before he showed up, thus having them lure their unstable glacytes onto him and almost killing him (he then flubbed a prayer switch and died). Oh well, you get what you deserve. That being said, I have never botted, and I never will. The thought of it disgusts me - I prefer to have my own achievements be my own, and not a hollow one at the hands of a program. Not saying I enjoy skills like mining and runecrafting, but I tolerate them - semi afk mining (while playing a different game) at the Lava Flow Mine and effigycrafting sound far more appealing than training those two skills normally, in my opinion.
  6. First off, that's probably the most organized looking bank I've ever seen >.> I wish I had a fraction of the ability to organize like you, lol. Mine's a complete mess right now... Anyway. I'll go through it top to bottom and pick out what I think you could do without, but I also don't know what items you're collecting just to collect - I know I personally have my own collections (biscuits, meerkat pouches, etc) that I wouldn't part without as well. Just an overall thing I noticed - you have a huge amount of placeholders, that's probably what's eating up most of your bank space. Selling off the ones you don't rely on very often would free up a lot of space, in my opinion. [spoiler=Massive wall of text]First tab. I see the rock hammer there - I'm unsure on how often you slay, or if you take gargoyle tasks at all, but if you don't, I'd say toss that out. The scroll next to the infinity boots I don't really recognize (although my guess is it's a citadel spell scroll), so you probably don't need that either. The strange rock from Avalani you can just get back from Diango, so you could get rid of that as well. I notice you have slayer gems and rings as well, but I assume you use the rings fairly often, so it's probably better to have a gem placeholder in that case. I also see a doctor's gown (I think?) and a strange rock - unless you're using the doctor's outfit as part of your outfit, you could get rid of it (I'm sure there's a way to get it back, since it's a quest item). The strange rock can be placed in your collection bag, which I think I saw in a different tab. Second tab. You have a lot of pouches in there - you could probably sell off all but the most commonly used and just rebuy the ones you need as you need them to save space. I notice you have placeholders for shards/blank pouches as well, you could get rid of those to save space. The stone scarabs you could possibly throw out as well, depending on how often you do Pyramid Plunder/recharge the scepter (even then, I thought it was preferable to recharge using gold items anyway, which I notice you have a large pile of in a different tab). Water talisman is likely another placeholder, so it could be sold. Third tab. Tons of placeholders >.> I personally wouldn't have any normal hammers now that you have the golden one in the same tab. Saws, depend on if you're doing construction soon. If not, I'd probably drop/sell them. Needle & thread I always kept in my bank somewhere for some reason, but it really isn't needed that much unless you're training crafting soon, so you could get rid of those. Dwarven army axe has a chisel attachment, so you don't need the normal chisels now. The army axe doesn't have a knife attachment (which I still find irritating, but I realize it would conflict with the tinderbox attachment), so I'd keep those unless you won't need them anytime soon. You can use the army axe as a tinderbox, so you can toss the normal tinderboxes as well. Don't really need the bullseye lanterns since you have two with sapphires inset into them (and I'm sure you have the seers' headband in there somewhere), so you could sell those. Continuing with the third tab... considering the large number of addy bars, I'm guessing you'll be training smithing somewhat soon, so those are a keep. The logs/planks/caskets aren't really *needed*, but that one is your choice :P the addy platebody would also be a keeper if you're training smithing soon. Molten glass and gems could be sold, unless you're collecting them, of course. I'm assuming most of the jewellery is teleport stuff, so that would all be kept. Since you have a lot of gold ore/bars, I get the feeling you might be training crafting with them - if not, I'd sell them along with the steel bars. I personally wouldn't keep a battlestaff placeholder (unless I'm mistaken and that's a dramen staff, I know they look identical), so sell that. Same with the silk and glassblowing pipe. Fourth tab... only thing you could really do here is sell/drop the harpoons and bait/fly fishing rods (I'd keep the barbarian fishing rod just because it can't be bought back). I always keep food with placeholders in my bank, but pie dishes are your choice, I personally would just drop/sell them and buy more summer pies rather than make them myself. Fifth tab... I have to say, I blinked when I saw this tab >.> that's a ton of potions, lol. You did say that you wanted to keep them intact, so I'll respect that. The secondaries you have at the bottom you could potentially sell, though I'd hazard a guess and say you probably won't since it would break the organization of the herbs :P Sixth tab, there isn't much to say here, other than you could toss the noose wand and just buy another one when needed. I have a tendency to hoard every single vine I get, so I have no comment on what ones you have. Seventh tab... I personally tend to use a single glory amulet at a time (in other words, use a single amulet's charges until it hits zero, start on a new one, etc) so I only have 2-3 bank spaces taken up at a time. Same sort of thing with (chipped) house tabs, I just chip some of them when needed for something, instead of having a number of already chipped tabs already banked - although having them pre-chipped would end up being faster when you need them, though. Teleport scrolls - no clue what ones these are, but I'm going to guess and say they're the more useful ones that you're actively using, so those are a keeper. Still in the seventh tab... hm. Unless you're using them or brewing them, I'd probably sell the dwarven stouts (m?). Nurse's hat, could drop if you're not using it as part of an outfit. Could also sell the seercull (I think that's what the bow is, not completely sure) if you're not using it. Pineapple rings, I'd eat or sell, unless you're making pineapple pizzas or something. The stone seals, you could drop/sell. Eighth tab, I'm going to immediately assume you're collecting the wooden shields, so I won't give any advice on them :P I personally only need a lava battlestaff and my tome of frost, but I didn't see one of those in your bank, so having each type of staff is good for now. Unsure why you have dragon spears, so if you're not using them, you could sell them. Same deal with the rune armor. The red robe tops I assume are Zamorak robes - I'm unsure of why you need them, but if you don't you could sell them. The suqah teeth you could sell to the tooth fairy (I think?) after Fairy Tale Pt 3, otherwise I'm unsure why you have them, so you could drop them. Broodoo shields I believe are cheap mage def shields, but if you're not using them, I'd probably just sell as well. The staff between the ugthanki dung and the gold seals I have no clue at all what it is, so I can't really give an opinion on it, lol. Depending on if you use it, you could sell the magic shortbows along with the arrows (although I'm guessing the arrows that you have 405k of are broad arrows which are untradeable, if I recall). Could also sell the bronze knives as well. Skipping down to near the bottom of the tab, you could drop the jester boots if you're not using them as part of an outfit. Don't really need a brown apron unless you're going to the Crafting Guild, so you could drop that as well. Assuming the two blue things right at the bottom of the tab are dwarven clothes, so you could drop/sell them if you're not using them as part of an outfit as well. Ninth tab doesn't exist in my bank, since I have all of my capes stored in my POH - if you're not going to wear skill capes much, I'd recommend storing them if at all possible, but since you don't have the hoods, you'd have to rebuy the capes to store (although the cape alchs for around 60k, if I recall). Another one that's your choice, although storing all of your capes would free up a few bank spaces :P I think that's just about it... excuse the massive wall of text, though >.> You have an incredibly neat and organized bank though, Laura. And you're still ahead of me in total level, I noticed :) hope I helped in some way.
  7. Been a while since I really played Minecraft, but just recently I decided to load up a fairly interesting mod I had just recently located (RPG Mod, as seen here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/479017-173-single-player-rpg-mod-v14/) as well as Finite Water, by djoslin (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/259303-173-finiteliquid-v4-its-getting-rewritten/). (and of course the Zelda sound pack mod, I never play without that installed now) Overall, the RPG mod is... quite fascinating, actually. It does give me some drive to actually do things - for instance, I always tended to hide indoors at night unless I needed bones or something, but now since there's skilling to be done, I tend to stay outside all night. Surprisingly, I've only died twice (both on the same night, thanks a lot creepers -.-), and I've gathered quite a large number of resources already. It does need some balancing, though - since I chose the Warrior class for this character, my Heroism skill (leveled via killing monsters) didn't get any boosts (although my melee/defence skills did get a huge boost), and as such is extremely annoying to level up - an entire night spent outside killing everything in sight only levels me maybe once or twice, and I'm only level 25 currently. My melee skill on the other hand, is level 146 (max level with the mod is level 200, with an Oblivion style perk system so each skill gets a little bonus at levels 50/100/150/200 - for instance, Mining gets % bonuses to mining double ore, but this is balanced out so you can't abuse it since you require level 150 Building in order to place iron and gold ore blocks back down to mine again). Anyway, rambling again. Heroism skill is being a pain to level, so I'm thinking to go to the Nether and go ghast hunting to see if it'll level any faster (it seems like it leveled faster on skeletons/creepers than it did on zombies/spiders, so this logic seems sound...). In addition to that, I'm going to reinstall the Aether mod once I'm fairly close to being done with leveling up, and I need glowstone to make a portal anyway (although due to the RPG mod creepers do drop glowstone blocks rarely, along with the usual gunpowder). Finite Water makes things a bit more difficult for me, but I enjoy it - getting obsidian is somewhat difficult now since I can't just take a bucket of water down to bedrock and get it the normal way. I ended up making a temporary water tank and let the lake drain into that, then had that drain down into a pool of lava I had (very slowly) transferred into the main room of my lower mines area. Of course, things never went as planned. I had intended on letting the water just flow down my stairs onto the lava pool, but when I released the water, I realized the walls weren't high enough on it. So, I rushed down in a panic trying to wall everything off (of course I was too slow, but still), and it turns out the finite water tank wasn't so finite - it just kept flowing, even though I had disconnected the tunnel that was draining the lake into it. On top of that, the water wasn't really turning the lava into obsidian that well, so I had to keep walling off parts randomly to try to get it to flow right... Ended up with half of the floor dug up to build more walls to try to keep it from flooding outward more, and most of the floor that was left was under a block or so of water, after I had dashed up to plug up the hole in the tank. Thankfully, my efforts had produced 36 blocks of obsidian, so I'm happy with that. It did take a while to fix the floor and flooding, though. Note to self: build a proper piping system and better tanks so I can do this easier next time I need lava/water in a specific place that isn't where they generated at.
  8. Just posting to say that this was likely my favorite quest since... I'm not sure what. Really well designed, the stealth part just getting into Darkmeyer wasn't too difficult, the boss was challenging, but not overly so - same with the tree puzzle. Really enjoyed the quest. I had no issue on dialup when I was killing Vanstrom, although I did get hit with the blood splats fairly often. I used void with the polearm, yak and maybe half an invy of monkfish. Still had over a dozen left afterwards, although I admit his last attack as he died managed to make me ROL and then glitched my screen so it stayed black -.-. Returning afterwards to finish worked fine, though. The bloodveld guard pet/thing (Harold) didn't give me any issues at all, although I only had the polearm with me at the time (and the holy water). Just put on pray melee and whack it until it dies - I didn't know about the holy water weakening him until I got it almost dead, but a friendly chat member (you know who you are <3) told me to use it. My recommendation for killing Vanstrom (assuming you only took the polearm and holy water) would be to run around similar to how you would against the luminescent icefiend, and run in to stab him occasionally. Or, just keep running. He'll get you with his freeze attack a couple times, but so long as you rapidly click away from it, you shouldn't get caught in the blood splat that he spawns under you while you're frozen. From what other posters have said though, it seems using stakes in this stage is preferable, although just dodging during this stage/hit and run with polearm still works. Really looking forward to the next part of the series, I just hope it doesn't take years to come out :P right now, I think I might go and test out my new polearm for Temple Trekking.
  9. Just wanted to add that the bog can still steal sticks, but the chance for it to happen is obscenely, obscenely low - I have 4 characters maxed, Rolayne at 42, Smiddi at 62, and I've only lost a single stick so far. I would wait on more confirmation, however - I'm the only one saying it's possible versus two who say it isn't, so I may be incorrect, although I'm quite positive I lost a stick at one point. Other comments... For the snelm/giant snails event section, I believe it would be smart to include a comment saying that the snelm isn't as good at protecting you against the attack of the hard route (level 139) snails - they tend to max at about 60-70 for me with near perfect accuracy still, so it may be better to just pray ranged against the hard path ones. Easy/medium path ones are fine for snelm usage (easy ones max at maybe 1-10, medium maybe up to 25, it's extremely low). I'd recommend adding some form of teleport to the suggested gear section as well - house tabs, for instance, if you have an altar and a portal back to Canifis is nice, plus it acts as a just in case you do end up nearly dying and having to teleport out mid event (which is fairly rare, I would think). I'd also recommend adding in - either to the recommended gear or to the campsite event description - to bring stackable food of some sort - a sack of potatoes is what I personally use for campsite events - the campers will take any sort of edible food from what I've seen. Maybe add a comment under the juvinates/vyrewatch descriptions saying that none of the NPCs will attack them, due to the monster's immunity to everything except silver/flail would be a good idea - I saw a number of people asking about this in HYT over the past few days. They likely will auto retaliate against them, however - I personally have not seen a juvinate or vyrewatch attack my follower yet since the update, but the possibility is likely still there. Small error in the shade event description - the villagers can heal your LP, boost your combat stats, or refill your prayer points - when they restore LP/prayer, they seem to do so to full. When they boost my combat stats, I end up with 108/99 for melees, and 102/98 for mage, along with 102/93 for range. What they choose to restore/boost is completely random - you can easily get all three restoring the same thing in one event. I also noted that attracting the shades to you sometimes isn't enough - I had one attacking me but still managing to destroy a door/kill a villager from several squares away - this is likely a glitch, but I make sure to hit each shade once before I proceed to killing them all. The aggression for snails is extremely... random, to say the least. Sometimes when I hit one they'll stay aggro on me, other times they lose aggro entirely and wander off to be attacked by my follower and aggro back onto them instead. I'm unsure what causes this. Just a note, since snails are one of the ideal events to powerlevel your NPCs - so long as they're attacking you, anyway. Snails also have a higher health regen than normal - you can see this quite clearly if you have a lower level Zachory Bragg attempting to kill one on a medium path - he won't be able to do it because they just heal that fast. Vyrewatch have the same aggression issue as snails, they occasionally just stop attacking and fly away. Just a random note, it's not needed for the guide or anything. For the other events... The Bridge event seems to be about 50/50 if it'll have undead lumberjacks or not - I never really kept track of the % difference since I have 2 sets of the clothes already :P I will note, that you won't always get a piece of clothing per event - it's a really high chance you'll get one, but not always. I've had a couple events where I don't get any pieces. Overall, it's a good guide. I'd love to see some more strategies listed, though - recommended gear/inventory screenshots, how to level up your NPCs the faster way (meatshield/tanking while they kill), and such would be nice. A section for choices in familiars to take for trekking would also be nice - I personally use a yak so I can carry more snakeskin/nail beast nails and not bank as often, but others may wish to take combat familiars instead, particularly if they're looking for sheer speed. Temple Trekking is likely my favorite minigame, so I am really interested in helping wherever I can :) If you need screenshots of certain things (gear setups and the like) I could upload a screenshot or just list off what I normally take if that's preferable. Anything I can do to help.

They can be if they're coming in from multiple sides, but having them all on one side usually means you can just mine in their direction and have your pickaxe knock them back. It won't work on a blood moon, however >_> Not gonna deny they're annoying as hell regardless, but if mining it out is being troublesome, get some dynamite and blow it up. It's not like Minecraft TNT, it doesn't destroy blocks, just turns them into items so you can collect them all. A couple well placed sticks will generally knock out enough meteorite to stop meteor heads from spawning (they require 50 ore to be placed in order to spawn, I believe). Personally, I just mine it out since I'm stingy. Trying to do so when the thing is underwater without an obsidian skull... well, that's fun >.>
  11. Sorry I wasn't able to get back on sooner, but in response to Spork, it's Millenaire that I have running that has Indian villages - they came with version 1.0 to generate in warmer biomes, and the older Norman villages spawn in the colder ones. Horrid thunderstorm here, so I've been offline for most of the day - the storm itself lasted about six hours, probably the worst I've seen around here in a long time lol. Power shut off on me when I had Minecraft open, so I was pretty worried I had lost my save, but I came on after it all calmed down (didn't want to come on beforehand because we've lost 3-4 modems already to horrid luck with power surges), and my save is fine, although the MoreHealth data was lost, so the heart container I had found was lost. I had some heart pieces stored though, so I used INVedit to give myself another 4 to replace the one that got lost. All appears to be well now. Managed to find a cave near my main base, so I've been digging around in that. I've also discovered that, upon leaving some red mushrooms underneath a large overhanging cliff (so it's almost pitch black there), makes for a damn good mushroom farm. When I went by there originally, there was only 3 red shrooms there (one of which I took to start my own mushroom farm). Came back just a bit ago, and harvested all of them. Was 25 of them there >_> At least my mushroom stock is a bit more even now, the yellow/gold ones (I'm using Painterly, so that may mess up my colors a bit) were outnumbering my reds by about 2:1, even though I only started with one of each.
  12. I'd love to see the score system get reworked and reintroduced, personally - it used to be functional waaay back in early alpha, I thought. However, the Yogbox happens to have a mod that re enables the scoring system, which I'm using now, although my score is -560 due to animals giving a negative score and me being on peaceful >.> It would be kinda useful for keeping score for minigames and such (Vechs' Chicken Blaster Xtreme Turbo comes to mind - as mindless as it looks and sounds, it's hilarious for some strange reason). My base is coming along nicely. Finally got enough smoothstone together to finish the inside floor, although I ran out of (char)coal so I had to start my branch mine to find more a tiny bit early. Spring has arrived, so now flowers and tall grass (and trees, which I didn't know could grow) are growing all over the bloody place. Making it slightly annoying to dry out mud bricks when all of the outside ground is covered in tall grass lol. Need to be wary of the Indian village nearby, though. Their population has reached 15, which is dangerously close to what my previous world had when I started getting those infernal lagspikes of doom. I do have a newer version of Optifine (Optimine + Optifog), so maybe that will help. If not, my base is already on the outer limits of having the village active anyway (250 or so blocks away, villages freeze when you're 300 blocks away). I could easily shorten the activity limit as well, if I chose to. Once I get some stuff installed into the base, then maybe screenshots. I want to make the outside look more natural, there are too many sharp angles in it currently.
  13. 'Tis a shame, I was hoping that they'd stop moving towards you when you look straight at them. Would've made them far easier to deal with, just need to keep your crosshair on him. The guy who did the video is really good though, you can even see the enderman sort of shift like he's breathing or something (watch it's shoulders). Still working on my under-cliff base. Installed the Seasons mod, currently is winter and snowing like hell (as it should). Found some ruins near my original spawn point, dug under it to find a treasure chest with a diamond block and 3 diamonds, with some other rare things (cake, apple, note blocks, lapis lazuli block, etc). I still think it's overpowered, but I may just be getting really lucky. Once I get the floor done of my base (and roughen up the outer walls so it looks more natural), I'll see about posting some screenshots of it on here. It's a really nice area I picked, in my opinion.
  14. So, I tried out Mine Colony for the first time over the past two days or so. As interesting as it is, it's... I'm unsure. Overly complicated? That seems fairly close. Having to construct a town hall block, let settlers spawn, put down citizen blocks, and a builder block, have one of the citizens become a builder, supply him with wood/cobble/etc to construct buildings, get a farmer and lumberjack (or multiple) just to get the colony to be somewhat close to being self sufficient really isn't for me. It's a really cool mod, but it takes a crapton of micromanaging if you don't already have a hoard of supplies stockpiled specifically for feeding and housing them. I went through 2 1/2 stacks of bones just trying to feed them long enough to get... a town hall, 4 huts, a builder's hut, and a lumberjack's hut built. And I was just about out when I gave up, lol. Millenaire, despite the lagspikes of doom that I get once the village population reaches about 15-20, is better for me, since they're already almost 100% self sufficient now, all I need to do is sell them some materials every now and then. Plus, those timber blocks look really damn cool. Still haven't really seen the mud bricks the Indian (Hindi) villages that 1.0 added yet, though. I'm sure those look good too. But yeah. Since I'm lazy, I started a new world without Mine Colony installed, and immediately found an area of cliffs and mountains reminiscent of the Bogota seed - although considerably shorter (the cliffs you find in Bogota can be layer 110+, but the cliffs I have are maybe 90+ or so). I like the terrain I have here, so I'm going to build here - there's also an Indian village very close to spawn, so I'll be helping that one grow as I build my own base. Maybe once I have more than two furnaces, two chests, a workbench and a bed with some torches scattered around, I'll take some screenshots of the area. I also noted some ruins nearby, I need to go dig around there and see if I can find the treasure chests buried underneath (one of the mods included with YogBox). Those can be slightly overpowered if you're lucky, but oh well.
  15. LinkOlaran replied to sarg1010's topic in Off-Topic
You're actually quite lucky to get a sunfury, those are likely a bit more difficult to obtain with the new version, due to the mob that drops them (bone serpents) spawning less frequently thanks to all the other new mobs that spawn there now as well. Not to mention it's quite likely one of the best weapons in the game, pvm wise (no clue about pvp, not my thing). Demon eyes generally drop lenses every 3-4 eyes you kill (if not more often) so having trouble getting them is a bit unusual. Must be a bit of a dry streak, lol. Don't worry, you'll be up to your ears in them after a few more hours of game play :P Just keep at it with killing the eyes, you'll get enough eventually. If worse comes to worse, the Eye of Cthulhu is supposed to automatically spawn after a certain point in the game, assuming you've met certain requirements - I believe it's having 200hp, and not having killed him before, and he'll spawn at some point in the evening after that (after giving you a warning message saying "an evil presence is watching you", of course). I'm not 100% sure on the requirements, however. At the very least, once you do get him to spawn, you'll completely destroy him with that sunfury >.> I personally haven't been playing a lot of Terraria lately, although I am heavily anticipating the next update, which I hope comes out within the next week or so - I think Tiy said at some point that it would be next month, and it's the 31st now (here, anyway), so... I'm glad to see this topic still being posted in, as well. This game deserves to be recognized more, it's easily one of the best games I personally have ever played (and I've played a lot of video games >.>).
  16. I can't recall the exact order I installed things for the Aether, but I know you need it, Shockah's API, ModLoader, as well as AudioMod. Make sure you have all of the up to date versions (I think the version number for AudioMod is 1.7.1 or something lower than the current version, but it still works). I likely installed it in this order: ModLoader, Shockah's API, AudioMod, and then the Aether mod itself. I could try again with a fresh jar to be sure, if it's needed. Keep in mind it's incompatible with a crapton of other mods, so if you try adding it into an already modded jar, it'll probably implode on you. I'd start with a clean jar, add Aether and it's required mods, then add on whatever else you'd like one by one to see if it's compatible (making backups for each jar as you go, of course). And I don't recall Notch ever saying a specific release date for 1.8, but I don't follow his twitter or anything, so I could have easily missed it. Seeing as I'm playing using the YogBox currently, I'd have to gen a new world for 1.8 anyway :P so I'd go for it if you wanted. And those... Endermen, I think Notch decided to call them (after someone commented on the reddit post for it), are quite creepy looking. I wonder what sounds they make, though... and what exactly they do with those blocks. Do they remove blocks from the terrain and build? Maybe remove blocks and throw them at you? Or maybe they just generate with blocks to build with/throw. Quite interesting, although creepy as hell.
  17. Rofl >.> A more serious reaction: wall off the doors with the creepers so they can't get into the room, open the doors, slaughter them with the bow. Then, wall off the other door in the same way, calmly pick off the skele and zombie (although be cautious with the skele, he may be able to hit you if the area beyond the door is more than two blocks high (I think the doors lead outside, so the thought of having the skele's arrows get stuck in the ceiling is out). Anyway... I've decided to not bother with the Aether mod right now. I'd rather wait until they fix the spawn rates and such before I really get into it more. Until then, I heard about this "Yogbox" mod compilation, so I'm gonna try that. Zero clue as to all the mods in it, but since they're hand picked to work together nicely, it should be good. Regardless of what exactly I do, I need to actually stick to a world long enough to actually get something built. I keep creating and deleting worlds, I never really get into any single one enough.
  18. I personally have never seen grass down really deep in cave systems before, but I can see it happening, assuming there's some way the grass can spread down through the dirt all the way down to that point. Otherwise, I have no clue how it got down there, lol. Maybe an error in the terrain generation or something. I downloaded the Aether Mod yesterday, promptly INVedited some supplies in, and got to exploring. I have to say, the boss battles are very challenging - the bronze tier one I had issues with since I was unprepared (although he's easy as pie if you are prepared and/or have the knowledge of how to trap him so he can't damage you), the sole silver dungeon I located killed me twice (once trying to get the victory medals due to a derp on my part, second because I suck at combat and died at the boss), and the one gold dungeon I found I haven't beaten yet. That guy seems to be almost impossible unless you have a very specific set of armor and/or a crapton of healing items. A hint for the bronze tier boss... (spoiler'd in case someone else starts playing and doesn't want to find out from here): I've started a new world now. I want to experience getting to the Aether with completely legit gear, rather than INVedited supplies. A hint for maneuvering up in the Aether (again spoiler'd, just in case):
  19. Well, that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying, Low :) I'd probably be playing on my solo world right now on MC, but I'm currently working on a puzzle room on Terraria, lol. Haven't really felt the urge to do much on MC anyway :/ kinda sucks, but it happens occasionally. I'll likely have the urge to play more soon, it doesn't usually last long.
  20. I may not be able to get on currently, but I can give some advice for some of the commands: Invsee is quite useful - it basically duplicates all of the items in the target person's invy and places them in the exact order and durability in your invy (you can switch back to your own invy by retyping invsee, I believe). Give item is relatively simple to use, so long as you know the IDs needed. The Wiki has the hex and decimal IDs listed for each item and block, so it should be simple to look up. Fairly sure the commands use the decimal values, but if it throws an error message that way, try the hex value instead. I notice the lightning command is gone, but if Low left it out and it's enabled, be careful with it - it generally kills the target regardless unless they put themselves out extremely quickly and burns up items (I should know, torchbane whacked me with it more than once >_>). I recommend not using it near other players or buildings (or anything flammable, just in case). Spawn mob could be useful if you require dyed wool - spawn a bunch of sheep, use your dyes and shear. Better than hunting them down, at least. I had planned on asking Low about creating a farm with some spawners so you guys could obtain leather/pork/wool/feathers, but I can't really build it right now, lol. May be worth considering, spawning a mob spawner and setting it to spawn sheep in an enclosed area. Excuse the rambling, I'm getting carried away again, lol. Hope I can get back on soon to join you guys :)
  21. Well, as soon as I could try getting onto the server, I did. I still can't get my pc to load the server properly :/ idk why, but it's really depressing. Really pissed off at the gall of whoever the [wagon] that griefed the server was. And pissed at myself for not coming on earlier so I could try to ban him if at all possible :/ I just wish I could get on now and help rebuild, but my internet's refusing to let me load more than a couple chunks at a time. I really don't know why it stopped working all of a sudden, but... Hopefully, Low will be able to rollback the server. Regardless, I really wish I could get on and help rebuild, I really do :/
  22. I should probably hop on the server later tonight, but I'm currently in the process of rearranging my current modlist (and downloading a rather large one), so I probably won't have time, lol. Also, in my digging around on the MC Forums, I found this: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/310298-173robintons-mods/ One of the mods this person created increases the height limit of a Minecraft map. Actually, increasing it is too weak of a word. The new limit with this mod is 4096 blocks (sea level still being at layer 64, going up to 2048 and down to -2048). That is absolutely insane - I personally though this was impossible, unless we wanted to unleash the mother of all lag monsters onto Minecraft, but apparently this one doesn't lag a severe amount. I won't be using it yet, since it's still an early release and is still buggy, but I'm most certainly keeping an eye on it's progress. Plus they've created a few other mods that also look somewhat interesting - the Volcano and Better Water mods in particular would be interesting to have (although I'll note djoslin already has his own FiniteWater mod which functions similarly to this Better Water mod). Imagine the build projects one could do with that limit...
  23. My sole issue with mobs being on is I seem to be lagging far more than I did before - I can't confirm if it's actually just harder to load with mobs on, or if my internet's just being a pain in the ass yet, though. That's the reason I haven't been on for a bit, though. May try later tonight again, it could just have been my modem screwing up. Regardless, I'm not going to ask for mobs to be turned back off - that would be unfair to everyone else on the server. I'll either suck it up or not come back on as much, I guess. Started working on my SSP base anyway :P
  24. Seeing as Jagex knew about this tele-lag problem for a few months now (and still hasn't done anything about it), I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see a fix for that long. I get the tele lag as well (made getting 96 summon a pain), so I did some research to see if it could've just been my internet (I am on dialup after all, and unable to get anything better in my area), but there are several topics on RSOF about this as well. Some of them dating back a few months. The only JMod posts I saw on the topics I read were rehashed versions of the same thing - update Java, delete the RS cache, etc... none of which work. Hell, I saw at least one JMod post this exact same 'advice' on a topic where on the first page, several different posters offered the exact same solutions, which were shot down as not working. Kinda makes you wonder how much JMods pay attention to what they're posting, doesn't it. Guess we can only hope Jagex gets off their lazy asses and does something about it, but I personally am not getting my hopes up.
  25. Pure semantics, so far as I'm concerned. Every single game I've played that ever had the "X% chance to drop item Y" idea referred to it as drop rate, I've never seen the term drop chance or probability in reference to a video game before. That being said, and slightly more off topic, but quadruple/quintuple posting (and not just using the edit button), plus calling people idiots does not equal a good poster. Use the editor and refrain from insulting people while you try to pound your incorrect comment into our heads, please. Otherwise, you'll just get more flames in return. I don't wish to be insulting, but the fact that he joined 4(?) days ago, and this is the sole topic he's posted in doesn't bode well. Also, definition of semantics (from dictionary.com) : se·man·tics 1. Linguistics . a. the study of meaning. b. the study of linguistic development by classifying and examining changes in meaning and form. 2. Also called significs. the branch of semiotics dealing with the relations between signs and what they denote. 3. the meaning, or an interpretation of the meaning, of a word, sign, sentence, etc.: Let's not argue about semantics. 4. general semantics. (excuse the butchering of the formatting)
