  1. Personally, I just found a tiny pond outside of Whitevale, dug a 2x1 tunnel under it, used ladders to stop flooding, and started my mineshaft from there. I just now hit bedrock, but I'm exhausted, lol. Gonna start diamond hunting sometime later today, maybe. Can't say enough how happy I am that it's working though :) it's really renewed my interest in Minecraft as a whole, being part of a SMP server community. Not gonna deny it's glitchy and slow on dialup, but I can deal with waiting for map chunks to load, blocks randomly reappearing after I destroy them for a few seconds, placed blocks disappearing and reappearing, etc. Overall, it's really fun so far. I'm enjoying it immensely :) I'll probably build an actual house once I locate some diamonds and such, though. EDIT: I do have a question, though. I know from the forum and walking by a shop in Whitevale that there's some sort of economy plugin installed, but honestly, I have zero clue how the shop works, lol. Could someone on the server that posts on here give me a quick run down? I'm sure it's fairly simple, but I honestly don't know how it works... Would be much appreciated :)
  2. Seeing as I'm on the new combined whitelist, I'll give loading it one more go. I hope it works, but I'm not keeping my hopes up :P
  3. From what I saw of the chunks that were spawning around me, I was probably around halfway between the surface and bedrock, lol. It would've taken some time to dig me out :P From what whoever's in control of Server 2 atm (probably Greg) said, he spawn dies as well. He stated they probably are going to create a new map anyway, since it keeps happening. Buut, I managed to fix myself. Somehow. I kept spamming /spawn as I was taking damage/falling, and had chat open when I did die - occasionally I noticed I would land on a birch tree somehow, so I planned to /sethome when I saw myself land. Although I used /sethome, somehow I didn't die that time that I fell, so I started running around exploring - there're lighting glitches (pitch black spots) here and there, but I'm used to seeing those :P found a dungeon already. I have no idea how I managed to do it, though >_>
  4. Still dying repeatedly, but I seem to be able to catch a glimpse of a map chunk sometimes (other times all I see is grey like I had some gravel fall on me). Gonna try using a command to put myself at spawn. Sucks it's so dark, else I might be able to see what's going on, lol.
  5. I don't want to sound like I'm nagging or anything, but is Server 2 up and running again yet, Low C? I did manage to log into it a short while ago, but I get the feeling it's not ready yet (seeing as I immediately died repeatedly upon spawning in). If it isn't ready, I don't mind :P I'm just glad I managed to log onto it early this morning, and I'm happy to wait for it to be ready.
  6. Server 2 was online for a while about an hour or so ago, but only two people and myself were on it (other two were Greg, an admin and a moderator). They were in the process of creating a new world with a new seed to be the proper Server 2, and I logged off after Greg said that he was in the process of getting the newly generated world set up. I'm hoping it'll be back on soon too, seeing as I derped and logged off before asking for an ETA on when it'd be ready, lol >.< oh well, it can't take too long.
  7. If you do open a second server though, would you mind dropping me on that whitelist, though? I might be able to pull that off, although if it doesn't I'll just stick to single player MC for a while. I really need to get highspeed in this area, lol.
  8. Yeah, I'm gonna have to request that I be removed from Server 1's whitelist. I've been trying for a half hour at least, I just can't load the entire map lol. If you could put me on the signup for Server 2 though, I'd love to attempt that. I figure if I get on while the map size is still small, I'll have a better shot of loading it than a 305 mb map on dialup >_> Oh, and my chat was lagging horribly the entire time I was trying Server 1, so if I didn't respond to any questions or anything, I'm sorry about that :P I'll probably keep playing RS or single player Minecraft for now, though. Thanks for letting me try though, Low C.
  9. Well, that just made me facepalm a bit, lol. I dunno if it'll be possible for me to play, then. I'll try again, but if I can't get anything within a few minutes I'll probably just request to be removed from this server's whitelist and added to the second server's whitelist instead - if I get in on that one before it gets to a gargantuan size, I might be able to load it lol.
  10. No luck so far. As soon as I spawn, I start falling in an infinite loop. I catch glimpses of actual terrain, but I don't actually... land anywhere. Any thoughts? I really hope my connection isn't too slow to do this, but that might be it :/
  11. Gonna give connecting to server 1 a shot now. Wish me luck, I suppose >_> I doubt I'll build anything yet if I do connect, though. Gonna have to get used to just being on multiplayer to begin with, lol. I'll wander around a bit first, hopefully not stepping on peoples' toes.
  12. In either case, I would love to be added to the whitelist. I can't say how long at a time I'd be on for or when, but I'd like to give it a shot at least. If my internet can't handle loading the map, then I'll just say so on here/on your forum/via pm or something, so you can remove me. User is torchbane (my fiancee bought me my Minecraft account for my birthday, if you were curious :P). But yeah, I'd love to go on and take a look around, at the very least. Not sure if there's anything I'd build to a grand extent (except maybe underground), but I'd enjoy just going on to see what everyone else has built. Either what Overdoziz said about increasing the whitelist for the first server with me in it, or adding me to the new server when you can put it up works for me, I just want to be able to have some company on Minecraft for once :P
  13. If I could get some confirmation on how well I could do on SMP using dialup, I'd be a lot more willing to try joining/creating a server :/ as it is, I have no idea if it's even remotely possible to join a server on dialup, let alone have it be somewhat runnable for me to play. Not to mention I don't want to lag anyone else down, yeah? If any of you know if dialup works fairly well, I'd love to know lol. Minecraft is getting a bit stale nowadays, I'd love to try multiplayer.
  14. A friend and I did some talking, and we both decided to try full out DIY for a while - we both sold off all of our stuff, apart from things we have some sort of sentimental attachment to (my first whip/d boots, the rune cbow I made for the ardy elite diary, etc), which we 'banished' to a tab to be used only once we get it as a drop/get the materials to make again (at which point we sell off the materials and store the money away somehow (impossible to fulfill ge offers or shard packs is what we thought of). He had to log off shortly after selling off all of his stuff, but I kept going for a while. My progress so far was to... get free sample tools from Lumbridge, mine some adamant and coal to make an addy pickaxe and hatchet, kill some bears, mine some clay and pick potatoes to make stew, use some spices to make spicy stew, and boost up to mine some rune to make a rune hatchet and pickaxe. This is probably the slowest thing I've ever done, but holy crap, it was satisfying. Using my new pickaxe to mine some pure essence right now, although I should grab my free dailies from Cromperty while I remember... gonna get some cash to work with by either mining gems/gold, making and alching jewelery, or mining, smithing and alching adamant platebodies. Then... I'm not sure. Maybe using my daily bstaves to craft into whichever elemental staff alchs the highest, and go with that to increase my cashpile. I never, ever expected it to be this... I'm not sure, complex? To start with. But like I said, it's really satisfying so far. Won't deny I was a bit frustrated at having to kill bears for meat, though :P
  15. DIY is one play style that attracts me the most, but I know I'd never have the patience to be 100% DIY - the thought of starting a new account and having to either kill for a drop/get mining and smithing up high enough for rune is a bit of an off put for me, heh. Nevertheless, I do some DIY now and again - I made about 100 decorated fishing urns last night in the crafting guild, for instance :P I don't do it that much, it's more of a spur of the moment thing for me, but I enjoy skilling just as much as I do killing - apart from runecrafting, that is >_> that one is slated for peng points and xp lamps only for xp gains. Firemaking is a little iffy for me as well, although I prefer wc'ing and fm'ing teaks on Ape Atoll more than straight up firemaking (or repairing Dorgesh Kaan light bulbs). I enjoy playing efficiently, but I also enjoy DIY sometimes, depending on my mood, I guess. Maybe I'm odd, seeing as I enjoy both... :P
  16. 90 slayer, 93 summoning. I did slayer pretty much since I got members 3 years ago or so, so all of my charms came from that. Guess me already being 90-100 combat when I got members stunted my summoning:slayer level ratio or whatever :P But yeah, more on topic. You're missing out on some of the more profitable tasks at your level. Just stick with it, maybe cut back on the cannoning (I hate cannoning to begin with, but I will turmoil my tasks if I can be bothered to), and do herb farming between tasks. Plus luck, obviously, plays a part on the valuable tasks. I've done several abyssal demon tasks in the past little while that I've been back, all dry for whip drops. Now, the last task I had (after the ashes update at that), I got two whips in the first 100 kills, plus a hard clue I didn't do yet. That task totaled about 5 mill profit for me alone. Still, it's just luck. Mine comes and goes, I can say that right now :P I see that you do have access to spirit mages, though. The d boot price may have crashed quite a bit, but... 300k? ish per drop is still pretty nice, and the droprate is common enough that you should see at least one per task, maybe two (I can't recall off hand, but I thought the rate was 1/80 or something for d boots, but I could very easily be wrong). Anyway, just stick with it :) you'll start seeing some profit pouring in eventually. And I envy that rapier that you have, I still haven't been able to buy one of my own, lol.
  17. Blasphemer!@ You have blasphemed against the Tipit Quest Writers! He said, and I quote, "The quest writers have no idea wtf they're talking about."! Burn him, I say, BURN HIM! *raises pitchfork* ... Really though, grats Serpnub <3
  18. I am on peaceful, actually :P it's just that I tend to want to get to the next part of my project quickly, so I jump off of my walls and such instead of taking the ladders. Hence why I need armor, so I don't die >_>
  19. Easiest method without INVediting it in would be to gather as many ink sacs as possible, and use them on sheep to dye them, and then shear them - you can get several blocks per sac that way, but you'd need to wait for sheep spawns, which would be mildly annoying. Haven't been able to spend my free time as much on my castle project lately, but I have gotten some done - I'm starting on the castle itself now, one tower is partially built, and I have four more towers already built. Also, I have squid in my fountain. A half dozen of them or so. They still haven't gone away... >.> Not to mention the freaking cows and chickens and everything else wandering around the courtyard area. My INVedited blocks set to 255/invy square glitch and disappear if I punch an animal out of the way, and this happens constantly, usually meaning I have to save and quit to INVedit more in >.< I've taken to using the throw that brick mod to pelt them with bricks and kill them, or just use the grappling hook and fling them outside (or straight up, has the same effect). I've been getting a couple... odd things happening, though. On occasion, when I open my save file, I immediately die, and respawn as normal. But when I return to where I died, nothing is there at all. I think it's related to the hacked diamond armor I had on to have nigh infinite health (thus making me immortal) glitching up and going god mode pretty much on me even with the armor off (sat in a block of lava for three minutes without dying), so I've decided to not hack the armor health anymore :P I hope that fixes it, since it's annoying to have to re edit everything back into my invy that I was using. Once I get the castle mostly constructed, I should do the moat and drawbridge... and even more wiring to be done >_> had a few issues getting my gate to function correctly, it refused to show the fence block when it was down, and if I forced the block to update and show it by placing something next to it and removing it, raising the gate made it look like it was still there, but I could walk through it. I fixed it by making a small waterfall enclosed in one side of the gate (can't see it at all now that it's covered up), which seems to have fixed the problem by making the blocks near it (including the gate) update and show changes faster. I know for a fact that fence pieces are glitchy like this to begin with, using them to make a gate with ControllerBloc probably doesn't help matters, lol. Ah well, it's all working now. Sorry if I repeated some things from a previous post, it's really late (early) right now, and I'm bloody exhausted, lol.
  20. With just vanilla Minecraft, a lot of what you'd need is impossible - you could sort of create slopes (at least slightly smoother than normal blocks) using cobblestone and wood staircase blocks - I did this for my roofs, but it's still not perfect (and it only works for cobblestone and wood sloping). Using mods, though... http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=164190 I didn't install it since I didn't feel the need for it, but this looks like it might help. As for making several ladder pieces (or any other block for that matter) with different textures, you'd likely have to mod in new ladder blocks with a different crafting recipe with the new texture, since as I understand it, it's one texture for each block, and I don't know if this can be altered. However, I do recall a paint block mod a while back that allows for a paintbrush that paints blocks, but it was fairly limited and only adjusted the color, and not the actual look of the block. If there's any mods at all that'll help, they'd be in the Mapping and Modding section of the Minecraft Forums. I tend to pick through a lot of the topics there, so hopefully something will catch my eye that'll help and I'll post it here. In other news, I've been working on yet another castle, this time using INVEdit to give myself the supplies I need. I also have a huge list of mods installed, although many of them small and a good majority of them fixes (Better Stairs and Glass, for instance). In addition, since ControllerBloc was finally updated by a new modder other than the original creator, I used that to create a functional gate for my castle - although, I admit, it doesn't really have much use considering I don't even have the entire surrounding wall built yet, lol :P Pics to come once they're uploaded, and I'll edit this post with em. It's nowhere near done, though. EDIT: Some screenies of the castle thus far: [spoiler=Pics]
  21. It's probably possible to find a map generator to generate a flat map, but I don't know where. You could also MCEdit an existing map and flatten it, but that'd take time. What I did was download a map from here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=121930&sid=3b76610d4ba10a59fe780b57f4c782d3 Several selections there, some with the height of the blocks just shy of max (for digging), around normal sea levels (for normal stuff), and just above bedrock (for huge towers and such). Just pick one, extract it and drop it into your saves folder and rename it to whatever world you have free (World1 through 5). The maps are 1024x1024 blocks, btw. There's a wall of bedrock separating the flat world from the outside (which from what I saw was normal, since I used a grappling hook to get on top of said wall). Hope this helps.
  22. Only needs to be a one block overhang, but just be sure to do it all around so there're no gaps a spider could fit through on the off chance it tries to climb up in that exact spot. Oh, and get used to the sound of spiders repeatedly climbing your walls, falling, and eventually dying. It'll happen constantly.
  23. I managed to buy a set of battle robes off of ge for max in the past week. Hood bought very quickly, bottoms later that day, and top a day or two later. So you should be able to get a set off of ge, if you wanted to and had the patience to wait for them to buy. Now I just need to get off my lazy rear and get to bursting, lol. Anyway, good luck with getting your robes and bursting :)
  24. Would you rather I bribed an admin and changed your title to 'Fired Crew' permanently? :P
  25. Just like to say that the screenie only took me like... 3 minutes to do in paint. Well worth it, tbh :P
