  1. I think I might've only seen one spider jockey in my entire time playing. Good job actually finding one, lol. Thankfully, for how powerful they are in terms of combat (health of both spider and skeleton, having to kill both seperately, spider's jump range, and skeleton's range attack), they're also really glitchy. I recall reading that if the spider jumps at the right time, it'll jump right up into the skeleton firing, and get hit - making it boot the skeleton off and maul it. Or, you could just wait till daylight for the skeleton to burn :P I should start a new world in easy/normal, actually. I've lost what little combat ability I've had by playing in peaceful >.>
  2. I actually made that exact mistake you said I should never do, Dragon - I ran in, unlocked the door, but teled without gating or opening it to see what was there >_< was a stupid mistake on my part and I apologized for it, but thankfully our keyer didn't get upset (was in one of the dungeons I did today with HYT guys, though). In my defence, I was kinda getting piled, and I teled out with about 200lp and poisoned, but it was still a stupid error on my part. I offered to go back and regate it anyway, but he said it was alright. And Brad, Tui meant in the Paint program that comes with any pc (not sure about macs, never used one). It should be in your start menu, under accessories. Just use print screen to make a copy of everything on your screen, paste it (control + V buttons) into Paint, and either crop it so it only shows what you need shown in the picture, or save it as is. I personally save most everything in PNG format, but that's just me. After that, you can upload the picture to imageshack or any other image sharing site, and it'll provide you with a link, which you can then put into a post on here. [ img ] and [ /img ] (take out the spaces) is the code used to make your link display as an actual picture on here - just copy the link into your post, put the img at the start, and /img at the end of the url, and it should work. Hope that helps :)
  3. Just in response to Sir Squab - yeah, I can pray flash, but barely. It's very near impossible for me to do it losslessly (although I'm working on it), but I can at least get the timing down. Any sort of distraction at all screws up my timing, though. Another thing I'll have to work towards. I did one large with DGS last night, and I have to say, it's probably the most confusing thing I've dealt with in terms of dungeoneering, lol. It's a lot to take in, but I'm adjusting to it - moreso since I did a few larges with other tif'ers from HYT today - our times are slower, but hell, it was fun. I actually didn't die that many times (unlike on the floor with DGS where I died 4-5 times, heh). At least I go out in style (ie, wrath everything around me). I try not to do it so much, though - I understand that constantly doing it not only kills my xp, but it'll likely slow everyone else down since I'm too busy running/teleing back to actually be contributing to clearing rooms. I also got my rapier today, 12k xp off of 87 dg, lol. I won't be stopping my dungeoneering anytime soon, though. I may take a short reprieve to recuperate from the dg'ing I've been doing the past week or so, but I will be back into it fairly quick. Not going to be one of those people who're only in it for frosties and rapier, and then quit. I want at the very least that shiny 99, if not 120. Plus I still find it fun :) Of course, once I close in on 99 strength, I'll be taking a break to get attack and defence up to match it so I can get all three at once - been a goal of mine for years, so I want to make sure I do it right. First priority for tokens now, though - getting blazer ring to T7, to match berserker. Unsure of the cost, but I don't mind. I noticed a few issues with myself when I was dg'ing most of today (and last night's floor with you guys) - to start with, I seem to have a tendency of running out of laws. 5:5 larges eat up a hell of a lot more law runes than solo smalls, and I'm still not adjusted to that. When I solo though, I tend to split my ess fairly evenly between cosmic and law runes, maybe 10-20 for astrals for cures if needed. For teams, I should significantly lower the number of cosmics I use, since I'll be ggs teleing a lot more than using my pgs. I also have an issue with getting confused as to what I should be doing - I'm the type to ask for confirmation to do things sometimes, rather than just going ahead. Plus if too many things are going on at once, I may get confused. This is probably just inexperience, though. Question, though. If I'm doing something (opening a door that the keyer can't open, making an altar, etc) and keyer calls out 'ggs gd', should I immediately drop everything and tele, or wait till I'm done (under the assumption I'll only be another few seconds anyway)? Personally, if it's a door they can't open and I can, I open it first, then tele. But if I'm skilling and making anything, I'll drop it and go. Should I flat out prioritize gd's over everything else? Actually, if I remember to, I'll try out the lossless catching/crafting ranger armor thing next time I do a dungeon, just to familiarize myself with it.
  4. Last time I recall worlds crashing, there was a half hour rollback or something, wasn't there? And it really sucks for those who were dg'ing at the time this time - I think I'd quit dg'ing entirely if I lost my binds, even though I only have a ssh/prom 2h bound :/ Hopefully everything will be back on soon.
  5. Yeah, Gio - 1.5 altered the sides of the grass blocks - you know how before the upper lip of grass didn't match up with the biome compliant top of the grass block? 1.5 makes it so that little lip of grass on the side matches the color. I'm not exactly sure why it's appearing as iron blocks, but I'd assume it's a texture.png rearrangement. I'll take a quick look at it, see where the grass side thing is at on the terrain file. Assuming it's there. Also, for those playing on anything but peaceful, watch out for creepers. If they're struck by lightning, they become powered creepers, which have a far more concentrated and larger explosion. They tear through cobblestone like a normal one would through dirt, and insta kill regardless of hp on normal/hard modes (from the wiki). EDIT: Just brought up terrain.png. Seems that the biome compliant side grass image is directly underneath the iron block image in the default textures file, so your texture pack showing iron blocks as the sides of grass due to it being in that same spot seems like the most likely culprit.
  6. There doesn't seem to be a huge number of gameplay bugs from what I can see from wiki's version history, but I'm going to guess that from a modder's point of view, there's probably more things not visible to the average minecrafter for bugs. Then again, some of the bugs look fairly game breaking for people with fairly established worlds (rails not curving, etc). *scrolls down to the list of bugs for 1.5* ... Damn, that's a lot of bugs. Yeah, this really isn't looking good, now that I'm a bit more awake and understanding the sheer number of bugs present right now. Jeez. Good thing I still have 1.4_01 with all my mods intact, if things get too bad I'll just downgrade to that again.
  7. Ezka, most of my 85 dg (almost 86) came from solo and some teams with friends, I know how slow it can be, lol :P That being said, I'd be happy to team up with you if you want me. I'm not the best dg'er, but I'd be honored to help. If you got into DGS and we got the rest of a 5 man there, I'm sure we'd both do fine, heh. I might lag behind a bit, but I'd do my best to be helpful. Just note I have a tendency of suicide wrath'ing occasionally, moreso if it's on a floor I've already completed on that run (although due to the 'this floor was already complete, so ticking off a different floor of the same section' thing this may change), so at the very least I'll be entertaining :P I will say, though - having friends with you while you're dg'ing will make it a lot easier to bear. I've actually burnt myself out mostly for soloing, but I'm still wanting to team up with my friends, because I know I'll enjoy that. Just send me a pm when you want to give dg another try, alright? I'll drop whatever I'm doing to help, since you are a friend of mine <3
  8. Just decided to backup everything and update to 1.5. Update finished, no sound. Checked resources folder, only had one of the relevant sub folders in it for cave noises, that's about it. Maybe music. This might be what happened to you, Demby. It could still be something else though. Just wanted to have it said :P it's happened to me before, though. So it's not unique to version 1.5.
  9. Just at a glance (and I'm bringing up the wiki to double check my thoughts), the powered rails have powered and unpowered states. When they're unpowered, they act as a catcher - any minecart to come in contact with them forces them to full stop on top of that block, unless if it has been boosted by an old fashioned booster (I assume the momentum is strong enough to overcome the strength of the powered rail here, and this isn't mentioned on the wiki so it may be complete BS that was posted on the MC Forum yesterday). Powered rails carry redstone current about half as well as redstone wire as well, so once you connect redstone wire to it, powered rails themselves can carry power from the original powered rail up to 9 blocks away (although this really isn't necessary, it appears to be better to space the powered rails out with regular intervals rather than clump them together - wiki says having 25 normal rails, then a powered rail, then 25 normal rails, etc... is the 'optimal' setup for using these things). Wiki states the distance for occupied boosted carts is 64 blocks, while unoccupied only go for 8 blocks. From what I remember from posts made yesterday, it's possible to hook a button up to the powered rail, and be able to hop in the standing still cart, press the button, and take off. From what I recall, the powered rail has to be on a slope, and unpowered by default (so the minecart, when placed, will be caught in place and held there). Once you press the button, gravity takes over, and that triggers the powered rail's boost. Keep in mind that powered rails only trigger on carts already moving, though - unless the cart is stationary and pressed up against a solid block at the very end of the track, apparently. Detector rails can detect any sort of minecart traveling over them, and trigger any redstone circuits they're connected to - you could use this to create one way tracks with powered rails, so the boost would only apply in one direction, and catch any carts moving backwards (runaway/hijacked carts, anyone? :P) Excuse the extremely long post. Hope I didn't forget anything, lol. Keep in mind there appears to be at least one crash related to placing and using the detector rails, though. Something about detector rails' coding going into an infinite loop when they're placed next to any other type of rail. Wiki states this can be worked around by placing the detector rails first, then put the other rails in (although Mac users will still crash when a cart goes over the detector rail), I'd do this with caution, because I recall on the MC Forum that some people had this crash happen, and their world started insta crashing every time they loaded it afterwards.
  10. This may be true, but he did tweet he beat it already 3 hours ago :P so there may be hope yet for a bugfix soon. Six hours for Portal 2. Seems to match my experience with the first one, that one was fairly short as well.
  11. Demby, no sound issues have existed in Minecraft for ages, but I did hear of some issues about weather sounds not playing on fast graphics mode, for some strange reason. The new update may have introduced a bug or something, but I didn't have any issues when I had 1.5 up (I reverted back to 1.4_01 for now until the mods are up to date, though). Normal sound effects were playing, and at least one song played while I had it running. I didn't get to see any weather, though. It's apparently not extremely common, but lasts a while, from what I read. If it isn't a bug with the new update, something might've happened to the resources folder. Best I can say is force Minecraft to update again, see if that solves it. I had some sound issues waay back in alpha as well that were fixed by restarting Minecraft a few times, that may also help. As a reference, the resources folder I have currently has 252 files in it. However, I do have the Zelda soundpack installed, so that might skew the numbers slightly. It should still have the new sound effects from 1.5 in it, though (having only re extracted 1.4_01 back over the 1.5 files, they should still be in there somewhere) Anyway, hope you get it working. Worst case scenario, you'll probably have to wait for the first bugfix update, which'll likely come fairly soon, since I've also heard there're some crashes related to the new powered/detector rails. Plus, this I noticed myself, you can't place any blocks (besides redstone, I read on MC forum) on any blocks covered with a snow layer until you remove the snow.
  12. My own solo dungeoneering has pretty much ground to a halt as well, sadly - I'm usually stubborn as a mule when it comes to dg, but after getting crappy floors after crappy floors (undoable skill doors, douche bosses, etc), I kinda just... gave up in a way, lol. So, I may actually come into the cc and team with you guys. I have been practicing with a more... DGS style floor, although I'm still likely ungodly slow in comparison to you lot, heh. Just a few questions, though. I'm a member of the HYT clan chat (as well as Shyla's friend's chat, but that at least I can hop out of). Am I capable of logging into DGS' clan chat as a guest and not have to leave HYT? Also, I may have been practicing, but I'm still on dialup, so I will be slower just because of that. I also can't run skype, so I'll have to rely entirely on in game chat for directions. Is this okay with you guys? I've gotten slightly more skilled with pray flashing, although I'm going to assume there's no possible way to pray flash turm and get the full boost, yes? I'm starting to learn how to pray flash soulsplit with deflect melee, but I'm going to bet that deflect mage/range will have slightly different timing besides (never tried flat out deflect mage or range flashing, actually). Hopefully I can put my meager pray flashing skills to use :) My binds haven't changed since the last time I likely posted. Prom 2h (with T7 zerker ring, I believe), ssh, and csb. I have T5 (I think) blazer ring as my quickswitch ring as well. Honestly, the biggest reason I haven't come into the cc to team up is because I'm afraid of slowing you guys down, really. I know I won't be as fast as you lot, and I hate being a burden. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep up. I need to learn to team dg eventually :P
  13. I'm actually trying to find the topic on the forum again now, but it's being a nuisance to be located. Figures, since I forgot to bookmark it earlier >.< EDIT: Got it. *bookmarks first before I forget* http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1032&t=204701 EDIT 2: Oh crap, Beta 1.5 is out now. FFF- Quick list of stuff in 1.5 (from discoveries topic on MC Forum): -Weather (rain, snow, thunder) - Statistics - Achievements - Detector rail - Booster rail - Performance improvements - More statistics and achievements will be added over time as we develop the game. They’re only stored locally at the moment, but we’ll slowly be rolling out online storing of achievements over time. I'll keep looking, see if there's anything interesting in the topic. EDIT 3(+): More things: - Shift + Left click while having a chest open on an item means it moves out of it's current side and moves to the other - ie, clicking on an item in invy will move it to the chest, and vice versa. Confirmed by Jeb on twitter, apparently. Further posts indicate it only works on chests, not crafting benches or furnaces. - Ladder bug in which you can place one every other block and still climb it is gone. However, the ladder recipe now produces two ladder pieces instead of one as before. - Lightning hitting pigs turns them into zombie pigmen. No clue yet if this works on peaceful (which I'd really like to know >_>) - Each tree type now has it's own type of sapling. - Wolves are slightly smarter than before, they can recognize doors and attempt to walk through them, but they still glitch up trying to go through them a lot, apparently. - More as a side note for rain, but rain won't obsidian/cobblestone-ify lava. Not enough water, I guess :P - Reports of water ladders being nerfed, although only by a few people so take this with a grain of salt if you have one constructed. - Side grass texture is now 'fixed' I'm unsure what this means without dl'ing the update and looking myself, which I should do now. - Creepers seem to move faster (another one to take with a grain of salt) - Water movement in currents is like it was in 1.3 (again, grain of salt, may or may not be true) - Thought this might be a troll post, but still, there's two people saying it. Lighting pigs on fire = cooked porkchops drop. This one smells fishy, I don't know if it's true. (Confirmed through personal test by pushing a pig into lava, confirmed again using flint and steel) - Rain noclips through glass, apparently. Assuming this is just a graphical thing. - Slot.png file in the minecraft.jar - has an anvil/hammer image, iron pickaxe, broken iron shovel, and what looks like an abacus. People are theorizing that this will become some sort of repair toolbench or something in a future update. - Punch strength seems to have increased (or animal health decreased). I punched a cow to death in five hits, whereas before the update it took ten, I thought. Several comments on the MC Forum topic about it as well. - Power.png in the armor folder in minecraft.jar - zero clue what this is, although I'm wondering if it's the graphic it shows when a pig anything is struck by lightning (personal speculation, btw) - screenie on the MC forum topic showing a creeper with this effect applied, poster stated it was just struck by lightning. Still no weather seen in this new world, so it likely isn't as common as I had originally expected. Also, animals are incredibly stupid around lavafalls, I probably collected spoils from a dozen animals in the time it took me to find iron to test for cooked pork from pigs using flint and steel >.>
  14. Wait, Peronix here is the same Peronix on the Minecraft forums? O_o I have at least five of your mods installed right now, lmao. I have something like 30 mods in total installed as well, just about as many as Minecraft can handle (had to remove several just to be able to fit IndustrialCraft in, due to Minecraft not having enough graphics indices or something similar). Probably going to be a huge pain in the ass to update once 1.5 rolls around, but I have vanilla 1.4_01 compressed into a rar file somewhere already, plus backups of my modded jar, so I should be alright. Quick update on my world. Once I got the new version of Millenaire installed, I realized one of my chests in my house was causing me to crash whenever I opened it. I went through my entire modlist 3 times to figure out why it'd be crashing (only thing I could think of was having a modded item in there that had it's mod uninstalled already), but I found nothing. Had to download MCEdit just to get rid of the thing, by then I was fed up, so I started a new world. Still on peaceful, though. So far, not too much has happened. Got a tree farm working, furnace room, etc. Nothing really special yet, I haven't even started digging down yet, really. Quite proud of my tree farm, although it's waaay too large for height, so I'm getting some of the largest trees possible growing in it >_< makes it difficult to chop them down.
  15. Alternatively until you can get Korasi's sword/rapier, you could use leaf bladed sword (or brackish blade, from what I hear it also has stab, I can't confirm that first hand though). Since you don't have super antifires, you wouldn't be able to use zamorakian spear, either. I used leaf bladed sword for quite a long time, before I could use super antifires with zspear (and then upgraded to korasi + d def when it came out). There may have been a better option at the time, but I can't think of any personally. I could easily be outdated with my leaf bladed sword suggestion, though. It's been a fairly long time since I've had to use it, but other than korasi's sword and the brackish blade, I can't think of any other decent one handed stabbing weapons that are easily obtained. EDIT: In response to Zaaps' post, I believe it has similar stats to dragon scimitar, but slightly lower strength, and the stab and slash attack bonuses are reversed. I'd have to do a check on wiki or tipit to confirm, though.
  16. I'm curious as to what optifog is (I never saw it on the forum before), but optimine I do recognize. I should go and look and see if it's compatible with my current set of mods, then. Kim, you may have saved my save file, if it works :P EDIT: They both function with my modset, although I had to turf CrystalClearWaters for it. And there's an increase in fps, but I'm still getting the choppiness like before, although it's considerably less severe. It's still not playable, but with the next update, if they iron out some of the lag, it should. For now though, I'm just going to mod a new jar file without Millenaire in it. I'll play with that and a new world till the lag is resolved. Still, I noticed my framerate went up considerably, so without Millenaire screwing around with it, I should be able to run around with max graphics settings easily. Thanks for mentioning those two mods, Kim.
  17. Just a heads up to those using/may start using the Millenaire mod: Like it says somewhere in the topic, it starts lagging when the population increases. Quite severely once it gets high. I seem to have hit the proverbial brick wall at about 25 people, but other can get up to 40 ish. If you're going to try this mod, I wouldn't recommend having anything else installed with it, unless you have a hell of a powerful computer. I normally have zero issue at far view distance/fancy graphics, and only a tiny bit of choppiness with better lighting on, but right now, it's slowing me down to a crawl with 25 people. I've already crashed maybe... 3 times, and my fps has dropped occasionally into the single digits. The creator is attempting to fix the lag issues for it for the next update, though. So I'd hold off on dl'ing it until then, or if you have it already, be wary of how much power this thing will eat up for your pc. I suppose a temporary fix would be to kill off a few villagers (preferably without them trying to kill you afterwards), but I don't want to do that, lol. I'm just going to back up my jar and save file, and remove the mod and start a new world until the lag issue is fixed. It's still one of the best mods I've seen, though. Just horribly intensive on my pc. Well, at least I can reinstall the nature mod now, hopefully :P as for my hangar, I did get my plane built and flew it around a few times, but like I said before, I needed to expand the hangar outward just to hold it. With the lag as it is now, I doubt I'll be doing that, so I'll just build a new one on my new world once I get it ready and show that instead.
  18. I actually read through the Art of War topic a while back. Major information overload for my poor brain, lol. The idea of it in Minecraft is actually quite interesting, though. I'd like to see something like this happen, although it would take a lot of work. Actually, I'm gonna read it again >.>
  19. Yeah, I just got my own biplane built, took it on a quick test run (got stuck in the plane in the process and couldn't figure out how the hell to make it move first, though), landed it on my airstrip... and my hangar's not long enough. So I need to extend it out a ways just so I can close the hangar door once it's built and wired up. Even then, it'll only hold the one plane lol. I'll probably post a screenie later today or tomorrow, depending on how my mining goes. Mining out cobble and coal for the village requirements (cobblestone and smooth stone) is my priority right now.
  20. Makes sense, but they require a huge amount of material for me right now, lol. Going to need several stacks of cobblestone, stone and glass, I think.
  21. From what Grimy's spreadsheet said before he removed them, addy platebodies were still 256k xp/hr. That's probably assuming max attention and using a beast of burden, though. I know I personally didn't achieve that when I was getting 99. Personally, I trained by smelting gold ore until the low 90s, and the last couple levels I did addy platebodies, no sc hammers. I personally dislike the minigame, and felt I would rather spend extra time earning the money back. Personal opinion, and undoubtedly inefficient :P Addy plates are expensive, though. If you don't have the money to pour into buying addy bars, go with gold ore smelting, or superheat/smelting - casting superheat ore during the smelting animation doesn't interrupt it, so you can do both at the same time and severely ramp up the xp/hr, but it does cost more (in gp and attention). Assuming Jagex didn't do anything to 'fix' superheat/smelting... normal gold ore smelting using the goldsmithing gauntlets was about... 65k xp/hr, if I recall (this was a fairly long time ago, so my memory may be slightly off). Superheat/smelting was about 130k xp/hr. Those who're more efficient than me may know a more exact xp rate, though. Probably end up faster than me as well :P
  22. The trading mechanism was annoying for me to figure out too, yeah. To sell items to them, you have to select them on the hotbar and right click on the woman there. If there's no one in the town hall, just walk in and stand near the chests, one will show up shortly (and give a message saying they're on their way). Left shift right click sells 10 items, left control right click sells 100 items. Buying, I haven't tried yet, but I assume you buy the appropriate materials from whichever building you're in by having your money selected and right clicking - town hall sells wood, bakery sells bread, the tavern sells cider. I still haven't seen the tavern, I think it needs glass to be built. I'm still trying to figure out what all the signs mean inside, lol. I know some of them seem to be asking for material, or at least that's what it looks like.
  23. Yeah, I have nowhere near enough iron to make a biplane, lol. Need another 49 iron just for the engine, lol. Since this world is completely legit, I'll have to get to mining >.<
  24. From my admittedly limited viewpoint, I would expect anything related to pking to be in the pking subforum in their picture/vids thread (unless the graveyard functions as the posting area), rather than having them dumped here with the pictures and videos of everything else. This assuming that anything pvp related must go into the graveyard, and from the rule on the first post, that is implied. In addition, the quoted graveyard link doesn't function, but the original one on the first page does. Fascinating.
  25. I'll keep working towards making it work and listing my steps until then :) Let's see here... - Downloaded modelrendererturbo, AudioMod, ModLoaderMP, and planes1.4_01. - Cut/paste zip files into my mods folder into a separate folder temporarily. - Temporarily back up minecraft.jar in case something explodes that isn't a plane. - Extract and place the new zip files' contents into the jar and resources folder if applicable. - (META INF is already long since deleted, so I don't have to worry about that) - Run Minecraft with new mods installed. Editing this post once I get everything installed and testing. EDIT: All installed, nothing's exploded yet. Gonna build a simple airplane and hopefully not make it explode. .. Damn, this takes a lot of iron. I may need to mine some more.
