An overload issue, and general Overload discussion.

Well, not sure if this was the right place to put this, but here goes.

 

OVERLOADS.

 

One of Runescapes most powerful high leveled updates, overloads boost your combat stats up, with a renewal of the boost every 15 seconds.

 

Overloads were instantly recognized for their value in high level bossing, and, used with saradomin brews, instantly climbed to the top, and are now a base requirment for effective bossing.

 

While Overloads are incredibly powerful, a handful of glitches have followed in their wake.

 

1: House optioning: While not stricktly speaking a glitch, when a player went into house options while overloaded, it would cause the overload timer to pause, and only start ticking again when house options was exited. This was patched on Nov 21, 2011, but hadn't properly worked for some time before that.

 

2: Overload logging: Overload logging was a way to negate the damage caused by overloads. You could drink a dose of overload and very quickly log out, negating the damage. This was patched sometime in the fall of 2011.

 

There have been other glitches, but none spring readily to mind.

 

Now down to the current "issue".

 

With their 21 nov update, jagex fixed a few things regarding overloads, the largest of which being the nuke of house optioning.

 

 

However, another problem has now emerged, due to the 21'st update.

 

Previous to the update, if you logged out while overloaded, your overload wouldn't run down.

 

However, now, if you log at any point while overloaded, AS SOON as you log back in, your overload runs out, no matter how long you've been logged for, no matter if you logged 15 seconds after overloading.

 

This is extremely annoying at places like dks, where you have to hop often to bless people, or at gwd when being crashed, or finding a new world.

 

 

 

Thoughts on this? Or any thoughts at all regarding overloads!

Not really a discussion, more a bug report.

 

House options was also a silly thing to do, because it stops your spec bar restoring, so it was never worth saving 30 seconds of overload compared to 20% special.

Mine seem to be running out slightly faster, though it could be just me.

I guess this is how they were meant to be in the first place, so I dont really have a problem with the removal of house options. What's the logic behind ovls wearing off on login though?

I didn't think it stopped special restore, definitely don't think it ever happened to me as my special would be restoring as fast as my friend's would. But maybe it's just been a lie for the two years I've had them. (no sarcasm)

The overload works in 15 (or 30?) second slots if i am correct, so if you use house options at the start of a new slot, it would still run down the 15 seconds, but would not start the next 15.

 

Same with special bar, so if you used house options for longer than 30 seconds, you wouldnt get the next batch of 10%.

Ahh that actually makes lots of sense as I've had a number of times when the overload would run out the second I exit house options.
