I use the prayer renewals for two purposes: first, in tandem with Reverence, it *does* keep my prayer from running down too fast in case I need it, or want it, and, second, it provides a helpful little timer for my OVLs (since both of them last 5 minutes) and lets me know how much time I am taking on each particular run, without having to double-check a clock/timer.

 

At 99 prayer, with renewals alone, I can usually complete all the brothers and still have 130-200 remaining on my prayer each run ... :shades:

It doesn't change the total restored prayer of a renewal (doesn't make them last longer) but it *does* slow down drain rate. One way to think about renewals is that they slow down drain rate. So together, the total drain rate of prayers is slowed down but a combined amount. This is can be pretty significant.
