As I renewed membership, I went to Burthorpe to try the new tutorial just for completion's sake. At some point, I need to speak to Corothers about joining the order of the Talon. When I speak to him, there are 3 options, and none of them involves the order of the Talon. Am I missing something here, or is it a glitch? I feel pretty n00b about this.... :oops:, I'm a pretty experience player....

I think you need to finish most, if not all of the Burthorpe/Taverley tasks before you can join that Talon thing. I myself was able to join when I had finished 52 out of 54 tasks.

 

But I'm not completely sure on that.

Have you killed Anvil yet? There's a task where you're supposed to visit the Loyalty shop in Burthorpe, and on your way there, you'll unlock a hidden encounter where you have to dispatch this troll lieutenant.

 

Other than that, you need to have beaten all of that area's tasks first, too.

Yeah there is a series of 'story' tasks that unlock/appear in a specific order/

 

You have to kill the troll in the cave which earns baby troll.

Then save the woman in the mine.

Then kill the troll in the slayer cave.

Then the burning house rescue north of summon shop & further north of this Anvil cutscene/attack both unlock.

Then the mother and daughter appear a the lake to be saved.

Then you can join the order of the talon.

The easiest thing would just be to put tutorial mode on and it'll take you through the tasks in the order they was made to be completed in.

However in the tutorial mode there's parts in between missions where it suggests to level a couple skills, but you can just skip those.

I'll try going to that shop hoping for "Anvil" to show up.

I have been in tutorial mode 95% of the time spent in Burthorpe. I skipped the levelling up hints (Yay, get 5 level 5 skills!!!) all of the time. The Corothers guy said I could do tasks (kill trolls and stuff) and I did, but no other chat options...

I had the same issue. To solve it I had to turn off tutorial mode when that was my last "task" and then when and fought Anvil and then came back and let me join the order. Hope this helps!

Finally finished the tutorial, so I can go and play like a renewed n00b!
