Holophonic/Binaural sound

Found a thread with this on another forum and it is just amazing (in my opinion). You must be wearing headphones when listening to it to get the full effect, but it sounds more realistic than any 5.1 surround sound system. You can hear sounds in any direction and above and below you with any regular pair of headphones. (I find it works a bit better with earbuds)

yeah i got this on my ipod now.... omg its amazing when it gos from ur head down to ur feet, and back up

I just put it on my ipod too. I wonder if it will sound all surround playing in my car. Might even sound real to people that don't know it's coming from speakers if it works just like it did with headphones. I think it would get the left and right directions(did in my regular speakers) but probably not the up and down ones though.

sorry, but it wouldn't get the same effect, the sound has to be pretty much going directly into the ear canal. It has to do with the way they record it, basically sticking microphones inside a replica of a human head to emulate the way something sounds after it passes through your ear canal.
