Zan
I have to admit it's been a few years since I've been truly active in the game, so much that a lot of things have changed. Since the most natural thing to do when you get back in there is to generate some resources I've been wondering what means players use nowadays to get some income? I'm fairly above average with skill levels and personal wealth but it couldn't hurt to get things rolling again. Is bulk flipping/arbitrage still done despite the limit implemented on sales and purchases? Which skills have become obsolete? Also as a bonus question: By the time I retired the barrows armour was the best one in the game. Someone care to enlighten me what replaced it now? Barrows has been replaced by Bandos and Torva (melee), Armadyl and Pernix (Ranged), but Ahrim's is still one of the best mage outfits only being outclassed by Viritus. However, if you find yourself lacking in the geepee department, barrows armor is still a viable option. Gathering skills don't make much money now days, so the best ways to make money are either by staking, bossing, or merchanting. The GE buying limits aren't that big of a deal as far as I know. I haven't merched in a while, so things might have changed recently.

I've also been told that the limit has been removed so that might change a few things. Hell I'm still amazed my party hats have gone over the billion mark, haha. Vezon Dash
Well.... Guthan's armor set is one of the useless ones now. With the Summoning skill, you can get a familiar that will heal your 20 LP ever 30 seconds. Also, if you are doing things like Slayer, you shouldn't really need food in the first place. Quyneax
Armour-wise barrows is some of the best defensively for melee, but other than Dharok's and Karil's the weapons are completely outclassed on every level. Guthan's spear is pitifully weak :(. Zan
Aww, and it used to be the most amazing set for all-purpose fighting. I can't really afford all the end game armour unless I start getting reacquainted with my mercantile skills again. Not that I did much fighting to begin with since I hate combat, but it's nice to have something for backup.
Quyneax
You don't need much more expensive armour, whips are only 300k or so. Dragon defender for shield (requires time but no money), dragon boots (80k), glory (50k), Neitiznot helm (50k), barrows gloves (100k), Guthan's plate/legs, any cape with strength/prayer bonus that you might have. Only good rings are expensive (400k warrior 3m zerker last I checked), but if you complete the new TzHaar quest you get a free ring which has +4 in all attack & defence bonusus and is a bank teleport with 3000 charges as well. Zan
Fair enough, I'll stick with what I have for now despite my dislike for combat. However the main point of the topic was about how people earn their income in 2012, since the last time I played proper was in 2004. Since skills are now obsolete I'd have to have a go at alternatives and I need more funding to start my merchant ventures again. :D

Drazhor
Herb runs and dailies are where you can make a steady bit of cash, doesn't require a lot of effort but some of the daily things do have some quest/task/skill requirements. (Somebody is putting together a list of dailies I believe, I'll let you know whenever it's up on the AOW forum) There are also a few different monsters that you can effectively camp for making some cash. Ganodermic beasts (Level 95 slayer required) and Frost dragons (Level 85 Dungeoneering required for access to them) are nice and can give a very nice profit per trip. They take time to get to the levels for them, but if you're willing to do it then you'll find yourself with a nice way to make some money without having to go bossing. If you do, however, wish to try your hand at boss hunting, you should keep an eye out for the TMHT events (Tip.it Monster Hunting Team, which I'm gladly a part of!), we usually do bossing masses and all for fun, but it can give you a taste of what to expect from bosses nowadays, because if you haven't played properly since 2004, then you'll need to get to used to some of the bosses that have popped up since then! Zan
Thanks much for all the info guys! Now that I know what I may end up doing back in the game I'll be subscribing sooner than later. Also yes, I did mean creating prayer potions from scratch. As one of the earliest members of the game I always intend to gain something from my work rather than burn it out, even if it takes longer to level up.
