Kiln with 93 summ?

So I haven't got a yak or steel... what familiar should I take into the kiln, and how should my inventory be set up?

I do it with iron titan with 6 brew flasks and however many spaces left with super restore flasks. It would probably work out fine with a uni.

Two unicorns lasts for ~100 minutes which is plenty. One uni is too little. With a unicorn you don't really need brews unless you mess up on Jads or maybe dills.

 

Inventory should be pickaxe, scrolls, spare pouch, 3 overload+renewal flasks (once you get better you could do it with 2 maybe, idk), bunch of restore/brew flasks, eee for specs, ranged equipment (ccbow or kxbow, ammo equipped, range top optional), Armadyl runes, 2-3 spare spaces for the early crystals.

Yes, i would take it if i were you. Speed things up a lot, despite what some people might say.

Now i'm not sure on what kind of bank you have, but you can easily manage an inventory that would offer great dps with enough healing and prayer.

Since you're going to be using a Unicorn (i assume) i would take the following (assuming you dont have Nex sets):

 

Verac Helm

Bandos Tassets + Chestplate

Gano Top + Bottom

Armadyl Skirt + Chest

RageFire Boots

Fury + ASN

DFS/BSS/Arcane/Ely/CKS/FS (Ely would be best with Arcane being second best)

Rapier, Armadyl Battlestaff/Chaotic Staff (depending on whether you decide to use Barrage or SoA [soA is highly recommended]) and Karil xBow. Any other Crossbow as well as Zaryte bow should not be a first option.

Fire Cape/Ardy Cloak/SW Cape (personally i used a Fire Cape)

Tokkul Ring

Barrows Gloves

 

Personally i found that making use of the combat triangle sped things up a lot. If it mages, i ranged, if it ranged, i melee'd and if it melee'd i maged.

It turned my 70 minutes Kilns into 50 minute Kilns and meant i was able to finish the entire kiln without using more than 1 Brew (usually this was just to safe up).

That's a lot of switches.

You'd have 7 switches, spec weapon, runes, ovl/renewals, scrolls, pickaxe for a total of 15 spaces occupied with those, 18 if you use 3 ovl/renewal with a second uni. Two spaces for picking up crystals. That's a very small marigin for a first time kiln run, not to mention that the speed gain of rapier over SoA is minimal given the walking involved.

 

Personally I'd say at least tassets and chainskirt are nearly useless, especially if you can afford a Virtus skirt. Gano top is still nice for Jads I guess but the difference between leg armours is smaller.

The 1st time I did it I took two tortoise pouches too and filled the tortoise with brews and put my uni pouch in there, whilst the kiln can be done on 0-1 brews once you're good enough, its nice knowing you can make a few mistakes and still succeed. Don't worry too much about accuracy; if you're using the combat triangle, things are weak enough that I had near perfect accuray wearing a full set of melee armour and ranging the mages.

 

Other quick tips: save an invulnerability crystal for the double jad wave as its very easy to mess the lure up, use storm of armadyl preferably throughout but if not, definitely use it on Harr-Aken and save a magic crystal for Harr-Aken.

 

You'll take the most damage during the 1st 20 waves so don't worry and think you might as well start again if you've used 3/4 of your brews by that point. The vampyrism aura is very useful if you have it.

 

Castle Wars (YT Channel OMustardo) has dozens of hours of fight kiln footage that could be nice to watch a bit of to feel a little more familiar with it.
