JJG
Hi All, Haven't played RS in quite a few months, approximately since when SoA came out.. I used to mage box with Blood Barrage a lot before I left and I plan to continue this now that i'm playing again. However I was just wondering if Blood Barrage or SoA is the best spell to mage box with now-a-days..? Thanks. p.s. What happened to Shyla's friends chat? I came back and no-one was in it? Has everyone moved somewhere else?

Baffler
SoA is most commonly used, so I'd assume that is best.

Powerfrog
At 99 mage:Blood barrage = 290 + 72.5 healing maxSoA = 110-270, 380 equivalent max362.5 is less than 380.Wouldn't Flames of Zamorak completely destroy SoA users? 1 hit and SoA turns into 85-245. 2 and it's 60-225. (FoZ has higher DPS at this point)3 and it's 35-195.4 and it's 10-170. FoZ has much higher DPS at this point, with staves. Then you can conveniently use SoA on them as it's in the same spellbook. Oh wait. You need the staff. Huh. I guess you could sweet talk them into bringing their Arma Battlestaff vs your "Poly/Chaotic staff barrage" and do it, making them think you're easy money. Quyneax
Well, Flames only hits 200 max of course, and the staff is fairly lousy (+6 mage attack/defence, no magic damage boost). So in a staff vs. staff duel, assuming you start on the same tick & magic level drain takes effect one tick later, you'd get: SoA hit, 218.5 average damage & FoZ hit, 100 average damage and -5 magic levels . (empty tick) . . SoA hit, 189,75 average damage FoZ hit, 100 average damage and -5 magic levels . . SoA hit, 161 average damage . FoZ hit, 100 average damage and -5 magic levels . SoA hit, 132,25 average damage . . FoZ hit, 100 average damage and -5 magic levels SoA hit, 103,5 average damage . . . SoA hit, 103.5 average damage & FoZ hit, 100 average damage and -5 magic levels . . . SoA hit, 92 average damage FoZ hit, 100 average damage and -5 magic levels . . SoA hit, 92 average damage . FoZ hit, 100 average damage and -5 magic levels . SoA hit, 92 average damage . . FoZ hit, 100 average damage and -5 magic levels SoA hit, 92 average damage . . . SoA hit, 92 average damage & FoZ hit, 100 average damage and -5 magic levels . . . SoA hit, 92 average damage FoZ hit, 100 average damage and -5 magic levels By the time FoZ can do enough damage to kill a player (5 casts), SoA has done 908,5 damage on average.By the time FoZ has done 1000 damage on average, SoA has done 1460,5 damage on average.Of course accuracy of FoZ is much higher. But the raw dps of Flames is never higher than that of SoA due to the higher cast speed. I really cba working out the advantages of one cast of Flames instead of one cast of SoA but either of them alone, SoA seems to be much more powerful. With capes on, Flames probably wins though, because of charge. So it hits 300.You don't need it on to cast Charge, but the bonus damage won't take effect unless you wear the cape. I guess the one time i ever used it, i happened to be using the cape for the magic bonus anyway. :D Ahh well. If you can persuade someone to use both staff and cape in a high risk duel, I'm pretty sure they're gullible to fall for far less elaborate, less risky and easier scams :P I guess it still applies for full armour mage duels w/o pots, but i personally never see anyone doing those anyway.
