Efficient Slayer Training

Featured Replies

Hey,

I am about to finally try and get 99 slayer. I'm 92 at the moment but have always found it so slow exp, however some people seem to get upwards of 40k slayer exp an hour and I don't know how this is possible!

Any advice? What tasks to avoid? What could they be doing that I'm not?

My standard slayer setup is the normal slayer helm/steads/bandos/chaotic rap/dragon defender etc.

Cheers

Chris

Use a cannon for basically every task you can, even if the area is single combat it makes a big difference. Steel titan/Iron titan helps speed things up a lot, so using your best combat familiar whenever possible in multi is a good idea (even if it'l only do a small amount of damage compared to titans)

And obviously ovl/extreme and turm every task.

As for blocklists, block tasks that are slow or you cant cannon.

My blocks:

Gargoyles

Jungle Strykes

Aquanites (dont ever unlock these)

Dust devils

Polypore (even if you have ganodermic beasts these should be blocked)

Other bad tasks are Fire giants, waterfiends if you don't care for charms, abyssal demons are slow but easy, greaters are fast but low xp

Most dragons are worth doing if you want a bit more profit from slayer

Hi Octarine, thanks for your reply.

How many cannonballs would you say you get through doing this, on average? I don't much care for making profit while slaying so I would be happy if drops etc. only just paid the cost of cannon/prayer etc, but I don't want to be spending a great deal on it.

Am I right in saying you can't use cannon's in kuradels dung?

I think the average is about 1k cannonballs per task, but i depends what you do and don't do in multi really.

You cant use a cannon in Kuradels, but greaters, hellhounds, dark beasts and both metal dragons can (and should) be cannoned elsewhere. I'm unsure whether cannoning metals at ghorrock instead of kuras is worth it, but its basically always empty so that's a plus.

You can always scale back a few tasks to not using a cannon, like dark beasts or metals if you find you're spending too much money, since the xp rate is very similar without a cannon.

Mutated velds, Black demons, black dragons, daggonoths (unless DKS), hellhounds and such should always be cannoned, they're just too slow without it.

You may average a bit over 1k cannonballs a task if you don't pay a lot of attention like myself, you could end up with 1.5k used per task

Cannon/ovl/turm every task. Titan where possible, if not possible take yak of recover spec. Should get 50k/hour pretty easy doing that. I did 58k/hour for a 12 hour comp in feburary, but that was using more points then you get.

edit- also learn to double and triple shot with cannon. You need to know the best cannon placement spots and where to stand. Speeds up dark beast tasks and black demon, for example, quite a bit. Can't rememer specifically by how much though and I deleted my data after I quit. Get your banking down as well.

I am not a skiller, but i do some skills.

I hear equilibrium helps overall kill rates since you reduce overkill.

Only about a 1-2% increase in dps, less on monsters with high hp. Equal to about 1-2 strength bonus.
