As the size of an explosion increases, the number of social situations it is incapabale of solving approaches zero. Ensure you are not a social situation. That's ~60 casts per game, at extremely low xp/cast. Unless you are 97+ magic, this shouldn't get you to 99 magic. (Even at 98 magic I don't think you will be getting 1m xp in wind strikes over the course of 99 slay from zeals. It has been working really well so far.
