extra level in the grotworm dungeon?

if you go down to the lowest level in the grotworm dungeon you can find a stair case going down. this stair case is currently blocked by rocks, but might become unblocked in later updates.

also if you examine the mature grotworms it sugest a fourth stage to the grotworm monster. maybe the fourth level will be the location of the new monster that could possibly be released soon.

what is your thoughts on this?

There are always closed doors everywhere suggesting future updates. That does not mean they come out soon. Just think how long has the crystal elf city been there unopened.

true but the point wasnt that it was that it was coming soon, it was that ther is probably another lvl planned for the dungeon.

i just hope it will be soon ;)

I think that was Kaur's point: blocked doors, stairs etc. do NOT mean anything is planned. Jagex just puts them in cause they look nice and CAN be used at a later date if desired without kind of retconning something in that wasn't there before.

Yep. According to the RuneScape Wiki, Prifddinas was released on September 20, 2004, meaning it's been almost eight years and nothing.

Luckily:

"At Runefest 2011, it was confirmed Prifddinas would be released along the yet to be subtitled Mourning's Ends Part III, which will be released in 2012 or 2013."

Meaning Prifddinas will take eight to nine years (hopefully at best) after its reveal. Good work, Jagex. On top of things as always.

Tbf the mod who did most of elf series did leave them for like 6 years in that interim.

But I am glad Jagex have adopted a philosophy of finishing stories off rather than starting more and more and more. Sure the pace has slowed down a bit since that big stint we had but all the series are getting a quest atleast once a year.

If it ever does lead to anything my best bet would be Adamant Dragons to be honest. There are some subtle suggestions that the worms are a larval form of Dragons so it would kind of make sense.

Dragons don't have larval forms though.

Dragon's don't no (to our knowledge anyway), but considering (based on the journals) they found a large reptilian thing and infused it with kin blood to make QBD and another guy copied it (presumably with a different species) to make KBD then they forcibly bred them in an attempt to create new dragonkin and resulted in the dragons it is possible the Grotworms are some sort of gone wrong breed that form into some weird dragon-esque creature at maturirty or even just a creature that got mutated into some dragon-esque thing by eatting the QBD flesh. Would offer a reasonable explanation of the magic attacks they use (dragonkin magic) and why they seem to have some form of thick hide in places which doesnt fit with a 'normal' carrion type larval creature.

And looping back a bit who's to say what the elder-dragons were like? The vague details we have of them imply they are more QBD-like than KBD-like and QBD certainly seems some-what sepertine/wormy (eg the 8 eyes)

I haven't been to the grotworm lair yet, and I don't know a whole lot about this update, but the screenshots of the lowest level remind me of the teaser images.

Bottom three images here (in case they don't load in hide tags)

screenshots_27.jpg[/hide]

Those screenshots could be from the third floor but I'm not sure. If they aren't, then it's possible that they're from the fourth.

Oh, and I think that most doors, stairs and other things are put in the game to keep us interested in the future. Look at how much people speculated over the frozen door in GWD. It's a self sufficient hype machine.

I thought those were pretty much confirmed to be a graphical rework of Brimhaven dung hence lava with bridge, vines around the place, wild dogs and steel dragons.

Don't we meet one of the last surviving elder dragon in RFD? It's the little guy who flambleds the cake or whatever for Sir Amik Varze. So if that's correct, the elder dragons with little guys with stubby arms and legs and tiny wings. Kinda reminds me of a Dragonite.

Nah, that was just some kind of "fairy dragon". I doubt they have much significance in the whole Dragonkin plot.

If memory serves, the examine text for them hinted they were elder dragons. And if not, it'd be interesting to see what role fairy dragons played in all of this.

The examine text did not hint that to my memory and one must consider also the few Elder dragon mentions we do have reference them also being know as Wyrms and being fearsome, certainly not a little fairy dragon thing.

Its examine is "Could this be one of the elder dragons?"

You tell me what that hints to.

Hedge is right:

And who's to say the Elder Dragons weren't diverse. If they were any equivalent of deity-like creatures like Gods are to the modern races, they could come in all shapes and sizes. Or perhaps over time, they've adopted newer looks to avoid detection, etc.

I think "Could this be one of the elder dragons?" may have been intended as a joke.

I suppose that is a valid theory, but outside of April Fool's items I don't think Jagex is particularly known for making jokes as examines when it relates to speculation.

The fact the examine is a question kinda invalidates it as 'proof' of anything. It reads as a typical jagex 'funny' examine and the question mark suggests its our character wondering could this be? rather than saying yes this is.

Our character wouldn't know either way. He or she is speculating just as much as we are.
