Dungeoneering Shared XP

So I just started doing some DG again recently after having taken a break for a little while. I went to w77 to team up with randoms and every group I joined had every other player set their xp share to off. I entered a dungeon and one of the other players kept yelling at me until I turned it off. He said it was so he would get more experience, but I could not see any noticeable difference. The next group I joined refused to start until everyone had it off. When asked why, the player responded that it would spawn less skill doors if it was off. I vaguely recall from the release Jagex mentioning that shared xp had no penalty for players so I was wondering if something has changed. The explanations offered to me seemed like player superstition more than anything else so I looked on Tip.it and RS wiki and found nothing explaining what the pros and cons of using shared xp are. Why does everyone seem to have it off and why are they forcing other players not to use it.

tl:dr Why turn shared xp off in demonheim?

Trying is just the first step in failure.

They're right to turn it off, but it's funny that they don't know why

Doors on critical path will always be close (someone more active in dgs should know exactly) to the level of whoever is the highest in that skill in your party. Therefore, when you see a door give low experience you know it's not critical path, etc.

Yeah others pretty much covered it all the reason you got told are bs and wrong, the real reason is good pathers can tell a crit door from none crit by the xp it gives, shared xp makes this harder to do.
