Nomad and Sara Brew help

Featured Replies

So I'm trying to fight Nomad, and I'm having a lot more trouble than I think I should have. I've seen videos and discussions of people doing it with worse stats and gear, even before magic absorption was added. I think part of the problem is I don't know how to effectively use sara brews to keep myself alive and still keep my range level at a decent place. Can someone give me some step-by-step "explain it to me like I'm 5" sort of help on how to use that dastardly potion?

For reference I'm ranging him and my stats are 72 range, 82 def, 82 con, 76 pray

My set-up was: Helm of Neitiznot, black d'hide chaps and bod, ava's alerter, Culin gloves 10, snakeskin boots, archer's ring, ammy of ranging, illuminated book of balance, rune crossbow, switching between ruby and diamond bolts, and vampirism for good measure. That puts me at +180 ranged attack, +107 magic def, +13% absorb magic, +103 ranged strength, +11 prayer

I turn on steel skin and eagle eye prayers and am planning to use a tortoise familiar followed by a kyatt after emptying the tortoise, but I haven't gotten that far in the fight yet. >.<

I'm doing the hiding behind the pillar and stepping out to attack technique, but he still seems to be hitting me too fast for too much damage for me to do more than guzzle sara brews and then some super restore to get my ranged level back up.

Should I grind to royal d'hide gear? Gano? Melee instead with my 80 str & att? Gah, this is so much more frustrating because I know how very doable this is.

Anyway, any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! :D

Alright, as far as sara brews go, 3 doses is equal to 1 dose of super restore. That means, that for every 3 sips you take of saradomin brew, you need to drink 1 super restore to be able to attack again efficiently. If you have to drink more than 3 doses, drink super restores in the same ratio. As far as the actual fight goes, there really isn't anything you aren't doing if I recall the fight correctly. Try to play it safe as far as you can until you get the kyatt, I remember I kept dying before getting out the kyatt, then once I got it out, I was able to beat it first try.

If you aren't familiar with Sara brews, there is a method that I can recommend that worked quite well for me.

Essentially, the kyatt attack and the ruby(e) special both hit regardless of ranged level. You can fight nomad solely relying on those two attacks(tbh, your normal range attacks probably aren't going to hit that high anyway). This allows you to just take loads of sara brews without having to worry about restores at all.

Basic setup:

Max Mage defence and soaking. Attack bonuses are irrelevant.

Enchant your helm and load it with kyatt scrolls

Take a kyatt pouch and additional scrolls for your inventory. A few super restore or prayer potions so you won't run out of prayer points. For the rest, load your invy and your summoned tortoise with brews (Possibly brew flasks if you think it's going to be a close call)

Set your left-click option to special attack.

Walk in on nomad and just start attacking him with with the ruby(e). Evade the specials as far as you can.

For the clone attack, you can stay behind a pillar until the clones vanish. This gives you time to drop empty vials(if you aren't using flasks) and to withdraw more from your bob. Once the tortoise is empty, dismiss it, summon the kyatt and just spam the attack as often as you can.

In terms of prayer, use piety for the normal fight and piety+protect melee when he goes berserk. You could use leech magic curse if you get 78 prayer.

Also, the stepping back and forth behind the pillar...tbh I'm doubtful how much this is going to help you. It sounds like you have similar problems to what I had, and for me the pillar thing didn't really work properly. It messed up more attacks than really slow him down. You can do it without too. I did it at similar levels without damage soaking or flasks, and trust me, I'm not a bosshunting expert.

People have already explained pretty much everything else, but if you want I can lend you an armadyl chestplate or maybe glaiven boots.

I personally took (and would take them again) a few normal restores. You'll be restoring plenty enough prayer with renewals and super restores, and normal restore potions restore your combat stats more than supers. Just use them whenever you are brewing like crazy or your prayer is maxed out.

Working on max and completionist capes.
