Willow Branches

So Farming was one of my most dreaded skills at one point in time, and now i find it very enjoyable, profitable, and one of the funner skills. I was just reading over Zaaps1 guide on farming 'Mother Gaia' (which is amazing and if you havent read it you should) and saw that willow branches are a good money maker. I'm able to do 2 tree runs a day most days and now I feel im getting jipped out of some good cash I could be making. What do I need to get the wollow branches from the actual tree, and if the tree grows back, can I get more or do I have to plant another?

Use a set of secateurs (magic or normal) on a fully grown Willow tree - you can harvest up to 6 branches this way. The branches grow back over time, though I'm personally not sure how fast.

Worth noting also that the Gaia guide is kinda dated and in current market values willow branches aren't really all that valuable, only around 900gp each and it takes several hours for the 6 branches to refill so you end up with only like 2.5k/hr income from it.

It's about the time you spend doing the run. If collecting the branches adds 2 minutes to your regular tree run (for xp), you make 27k/2 minutes which is a fair 810k/hr.

Oh yeah of course when you do the tree run if branches are there by all means grab them, but it's certainly not worth waiting for them to grow before you do the run (If memory serves after health-check you then have to wait 20mins or so for first branch to grow but I could be mistaken.) and it's not worth doing willows opposed to maples, yews, mages once levels allow.

OK, I checked the health of the tree and then tried to trim the branches but it sayd some still need to grow, does that mean they dont fully grow with branches on them to clip? and what kinda exp does it give me?

You get no XP from harvesting branches.

 

Branches also take time to grow after the tree is first checked.

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this but 1 out of every 50ish willow tree's glitches on me and ends up giving me 25-30 branches from it while I still only get 6 each from the other 4. Just something to look out for since you won't have enough space to hold them all and will have to bank.

That would be bug abuse for personal gain which is technically against the rules and rather than advertising it you should send a bug report in to jagex.

It takes 5 mins for a branch to grow back, half an hour for a whole lot, give or a take a five minute chunk depending on how close to the "growth" tick you get. Fruit trees are what you might be thinking of. The real issue here is that branches only start growing after their health has been checked so you would in fact have to make two runs.

 

I also do random willow branch runs at 99 farming because why not and they are the only worthwhile tree at that point.
