Smithing help - Artisan's workshop?

So I am currently 72 smithing and aiming for 82 (or 81 and I'll just use a dwarven stout when I need to).

 

I was thinking about using the artisan's workshop, but A) I was on hiatus when it came out so I have no idea how it works and B) I've looked and can't seem to find anyone saying whether or not it's good exp.

 

Does anyone know if it's good exp?

 

My other options include:

1) Smelting gold with gold gauntlets (about 2m loss which I could afford, but the exp isn't that fast)

2) Iron smelting and smithing (kinda tried this before and switched to gold because it was too slow, not sure what the cost would be but I could probably afford it)

3) Blast furnacing steel (possibly for cannonballs) or mithril or something. I enjoy the blast furnace, but it might be even slower and costlier than the other options.

 

Ultimately, I care more about speed because smelting 20k+ gold bars seems like the best combo of cost and speed, but I know that I'll get bored and stop before too long so I'm looking for other options. I was recently on a three year hiatus so I would not be surprised that there is another method out there that's better but I just haven't heard about it.

Between herb farming and MTK I can easily make a few mil a day if I play for awhile. That's not my biggest concern cause I have some money saved and don't care about lost potential profit or exp waste, I just wanna train smithing. However, I think I would be hard pressed to spend 10m+ on this endeavor. Just lemme hear your suggestions and I'll figure out for myself if the cost is worth it. :)

Artisan's Workshop is indeed good xp, but it comes at a cost.

From my own experience, I've always done Adamantite items, and so have my friends, but you can certainly switch it up a bit to get comfortable on gp/xp cost or xp/h.

 

From your xp to 81, you need 1 284 866 xp

To 82, 1 513 135

 

Taking Addy Ingots III to make burial armour with Suak, and following his commands, you're looking at 17,35 gp/xp, which would work out at just under 22.3m to hit 81, or 26.3m for 82, at a pace of around 200k xp/h

 

The Addy Ingots IV do seem faster and two thirds of the cost, but they can only be used in making ceremonial swords, which take a really, really long time to perfect and be able to make 100% almost constantly, so I wouldn't recommend it.

 

These do not include any of the boosts towards xp earned in there that you can buy from the shop, which are 2%, 4% and 5%, nor the moderate xp you get from fixing pipes. You should gather your points and buy those xp bonuses along with the faster pipe repair ability as soon as possible. (Personally, I'd get 4% first, then pipe, then the 5%, then it's free for all on the rest)

Between mtk and farming, your /hour income is about 5m then, if you use downtime to train stuff like agi. In that case, train highest addy burial armour at arti untli 88 for addy plates.
