So on a previous account of mine I had 99 firemaking, I'm thinking of getting it again as I love the look of the cape and the emote. However I was wondering what is the best way to achieve it now?

 

When I used to play, 'bonfires' weren't around, so the method I used was maples with some magic's every now and again. Are Bonfires now the best way to achieve 99? Experience wise, adding logs to a fire on your own gives a significantly higher amount of exp compared to lighting logs. (IME anyway)

 

Would Maples still be the way to go? Seeing as it's good experience yet affordable?

Maples to 83, then Jadinko Lair to 92. At 92, get the Inferno Adze, Flame Gloves, and Flame Ring, and go back to the Jadinko Lair.

Pyrelord firemaking generally requires high level logs and a shit load of money, and the OP definitely mentioned affordability.

Jadinko lair is strictly the most efficient way to get 99 FM due to seeds.

I used Jadinko Lair with Flame Gloves, Ring of Fire and Pyrelord Familiar. I'm not sure if the pyrelord effect still stack with the flame gloves + ring of fire.

Pyrelord familiar costs very little more than bonfire regardless of logtype. It costs more gp/hr but that's because the xp/hr increases a lot, so its the same gp/xp (give or take the cost of pyrelord pouches and the bonfire bonus)

 

But Jadinko lair is the best method.

Bonfires is afk but typicaly not fast

Jadinkos are your mediums not soo afk and not too slow

Pyres requires more focus but xp is up there

Other than being able to travel there, no. But curly roots requires 83(?) woodcutting. Also, it works best with an inferno adze but that isn't required. (just nice since you're already burning roots why not speed it up some)

Adze can increase experience by almost 100k per hour, so it is a must get item once you get 92 firemaking.

First time you visit, you need to take the long-way. See the dungeon marker on this map:-

 

After that, go in to the main 'lobby' area, to the dungeon marker:-

 

And you have to cut the roots to enable you to leave the area through the shortcut which takes you south of HH. After that, you can use a Juju Bag to tele to the Witchdoctor and just run south. That's while off though, of course.
