Speeding up kilns

Featured Replies

I just started doing kilns for cash, only done 14 so far but I'm used to the technique and memorised the waves/where to stand/when to use crystals etc. I'm just asking here if anything about my gear or setup can be improved to make it slightly faster, atm it takes me around 45-50 mins

current setup

Don't say nex gear or divine

-Should I be bringing a tokkul ring for some waves, to be honest I don't remember what its exact effect is but I only have about 200k tokkul banked so not sure if it's worth the recharge costs for the time saved

-I wear ragefire boots, but thinking maybe glaiven would be better? To speed up killing mages, Or should I bring a boot switch?

-Should I bring swift glove switch instead of ava's? It would speed up dps but increase cost of supplies, not sure if worth it

-Some people say karils is better than CCB? How much better is the dps if this is true, I have trouble believing it

-Whats a good time to aim for on average

Just looking for anything that can save me some time/increase gp p/h, hopefully there's some experienced kilners in H&A

Karils is like twice the dps of ccbow, but I cbf calculating exactly how much.

Zam book is useless. Use a dragon defender or defensive shield.

Accumulator is just unnecessary range bonus – it barely increases dps vs low defense.

Swift gloves would massively increase dps, but I don't have much kiln experience so I'm not sure how practical they are.

Don't bother with sharpshooter aura (I think that's what you're using). If anything, use equilibrium.

Tokkul-Zo is the best ring to use.

I would like to see where you get this from, I've heard people say karils is better but I'm not sure myself, and I'm guessing it would increase costs

It has pray bonus and bonus to all 3 combat styles, ddf only helps melee accuracy (rangers have low def anyway) and I don't need the def bonus

I use it because saves a lot of bolts = lower cost = more gp p/h (inb4 you can pick the bolts up, I don't have invy space and I won't juggle invy just to pick up bolts)

Swift gloves would massively increase dps, but I don't have much kiln experience so I'm not sure how practical they are.

Ok, will try them

It's vampyrism, equ might be a good idea while vamp recharges though

but it means spending time killing tzhaar to recharge, not sure if the increase in dps is worth the time to gather tokkul

thanks for the reply, sorry if I sound critical of your advice, I do appreciate it, I just want to clarify a few things, I guess I'm trying to work out the 'perfect' kiln setup, I will definetly try out karils cbow though.

DDef definitely speeds up melee kills considerably. Though you will want a shield swap when maging/ranging (I used EEK but my defence is only 85, at 99 the extra defence from EEK may be trivial for you).

Karils > CCbow hands down on DPS, it also has the bonus of not needing to pick up it's ammo (the bolt racks are like ~170 gp per).

I doubt the time gained by using the Tokkul-zo (over Onyx (i)) is more than the time it takes to get then 45k(?) tokkul required to recharge the Tokkul-zo. It lasts ~2 runs. It may be worth using if you have surplus tokkul that is just sitting in your bank however.

Sorry to hijack but are those summoning flasks or magic? Also I'm assuming a steel titan? If you didn't have that what would you bring?

Thanks everyone, here's my improved setup

Will upgrade mage book to arcane eventually

Feel free to point out if anything else can be improved, I could get away with bringing 1 ovl flask and an extra gear switch I guess.

On another note, since the update every time I finish and claim reward, my camera zooms in on leaving and there's no way to get it back to normal without reloading the game client, has this happened to anyone else?

Summoning, If I didn't have titan I'd probably bring uni, would slow it down a lot but other combat familiars aren't very good.

You have no idea how important spirit cape is. Replace a renewal with a summ pot too and use super prays.

I hate you for motivating me to stop being lazy and finally make super prayers, grinding 1k bones is taking forever.

Unfortunately I have no tokens atm and not gonna dg til they fix the zoom bug otherwise I would get spirit cape. (and rigour/aug)

I think I got all I needed to know now, my kilns should be a little faster, thanks for all the tips.
