Hey guys thanks for info. Managed to borrow some seismics off a friend and bought drygores. Unsure, with having the both of them, if it's worth getting asc (or just the MH) too? Lastly, can anybody direct me to a good blocklist? Task xp/rates seem a lot different to when I last slayed. Thanks :)

Hi, I've recently maxed apart from I'm still 85 defence and I'm wanting to get 99 through Slayer. The problem is I haven't really done any structured combat, let alone slayer, since EoC came out - I've done small amounts using rotations I found on the wiki. So I have a few questions as to how I should start: What gear should I be using? I have about 600m free cash, the tier 70 power armours, all chaotics and a RCB (no tier 90 weps at all). I'm assuming I'll want to buy a level 90 weps in at least one style? What style should I be using? I guess this kind of relates to questions 1. I can't afford tier 90 in all styles so what styles should I preferentially buy, and if fighting something I don't have a tier 90 weapon for should I use tier 80 in the weak style or always a tier 90? I'm assuming I should be using Morovan? Can anyone direct me to a good blocklist please :) I assume the most efficient list has been figured out? What are good items to have? I'm thinking herbicide, bonecrusher, gem bag, charming imp, ferocious ring. I assume Ovls, renewals, Soul split, the 95 curses are still the way to go? Any advice on what rotations, thresholds and ultimates would be great too :) Sorry if this is a huge question. I'm a bit of an EoC noob. Thanks for any advice!

11-Dec-2013 - The Bird and the Beast (World Event 2)

Welcome (back) to competitive online games! I almost miss the old days in Castle Wars. People shouting "prayer noob", "food noob", "mage noob" and the likes. Whenever they lose, it's because you're cheating. Whenever they win (nice lucky dds spec) it's because they're better than you. I don't think kills count if the person is ten or more combat levels below you and deaths don't count if the person is 10 levels above. -
Surely it would be ideal for everyone if both the browser and the client were able to be used to play the game? I assume this is feasible? That way it's still possible to use a computer never previously used to play the game and be playing within a few minutes but also have the game run better and have better graphics on your regular computer.

Hop4metal seems to have moved to the fc "Node Find" I believe - If that helps.

What's currently the most efficient skill to use the bonus challenge xp on?
-
I've never understood why maces are the cheapest, yet offer a prayer bonus (while the others do not). Is it because people perceive them as weaker, due to their fastest speed (as opposed to fast), or because they are actually lower DPS (maybe only against bosses where accuracy matters more? IIRC Maces have lower accuracy?)?

2003-Prod, thank you very much! :D

I'm 2400+ total and play an average of less than 2 hours a day. Do I win something?

No N0va or Zarfot? :(

You may not, but those generally asking for advice do. I, personally, think if you're going to offer advice that is a personal preference or not the most efficient way (or if you don't know if it is the most efficient way) you should preface it as such; "Personally, I...", "My preference...", "This may not be the most efficient, but here's how I like to do it". I mean most people don't care about what you do personally, but I think it should be common courtesy to state that it's not the most efficient method when giving advice. Although I also don't like that people are sometimes ridiculed for giving options even when they preface it with saying it isn't the most efficient way, or their personal preference.

It's looking like I'm going to go the whole way through the bowl without ever seeing the voyage to unlock JoD. So I'm wondering if it's possible to unlock a certain region's unique crew member (or more accurately, see the voyage to unlock unique crew members) while concentrating on a different region?
-
So I don't know if I'm extremely unlucky, or if I'm doing something wrong; But I'm 80% of the way through the Bowl and I haven't seen the mission to unlock Judge of Dice. I've been using up all my rerolls daily trying to get it and it just hasn't come up. Is there something I'm missing?

Another "I don't like it any more and neither should you!" post. But carry on trying to feel superior to those of us that still do play by posting on a forum dedicated to the game you no longer play - You sure are showing us!- 416 replies

Looking forward to the videos he makes when Jagex won't give him his old name back.

It could be toggle-able?

It's an average. For example; For the 700 Steel voyage, 60% of the time you send it out you expect to receive all 700 Steel and 40% of the time you expect no Steel. Therefore, over time, you expect to receive an average of 420 Steel per voyage.

I agree there are some shortcomings that need to be fixed, and locking you in place after using certain abilities is one of them - Although you can move if you spam click and thus is could be intended to stop you accidentally stopping the ability. But to write-off a whole update over a few, easy to get around, shortcomings is pretty crazy. I, personally, managed to do the quest without getting close to dying, in void, with 85 defence while using abilities - So I don't think you can blame these shortcomings for your inability to survive, rather it was your lack of knowledge and experience.

I haven't had a chance to try myself, and I haven't seen anyone else mention it; But are dual-wield weapons now actually in line with their 2h counterparts? Or are 2h weapons still superior?

2007 - Old School RuneScape... You Vote! - [It's Here!]

I really don't know what to make of this. I was vehemently against those that encouraged voting if you didn't have plans to play 2007scape so as to not allocate resources that wouldn't be recouped, but it seems like Jagex themselves weren't worried about this fact. I just hope it doesn't take anything more away from the main game and the vocal anti-EoC crowd will finally shut up. Maybe it will even set a precedent for voting on what content we would like to see - Although Jagex's content quite often sounds better on-paper than it is in-game. I'm not going to play, but I'm interested to see the game develop. -

Isn't the whole point of the project to be a snapshot in time, rather than a divergence from the main game? In which case why do you think updating it is a good idea? And what happens when the community is split over an update? Are you going to expect another divergence? Or what? Wouldn't potential updates reduce the popularity of the servers? I don't mean to come across as rude, but the point of the project seems to be playing Runescape as it was in 2007, rather than play Runescape if it had been updated differently? -

Going by that logic, anyone who is interested in it but doesn't/cant pay an extra $15 for it would be waiting for the vote to get to 250k. So that's a poor way of looking at it. Say there are only 50k people willing to pay an extra $15 per month, right now the vote is over 150k, and if all of those who voted are willing to pay an extra $5, then it would be in Jagex's best interest to make it only cost an extra $5. Obviously that would be a huge assumption to say that those figures are correct, but I'm using the example to say that the option at 250K will get Jagex more money than option 50K, even if no one else votes. And being economically viable? Jagex are definitely going to profit from this. People don't realise how cheap this option is, the content is already developed, it only requires a small team to get it ready for current systems and basically set it up, other than that there's only really server costs which aren't that expensive and will easily be covered by membership fees. Look at all the time, money and resources Jagex spent working on games and content that never saw the light of day. This is a very small risk and very small investment which has pretty much already guaranteed profit for Jagex. And I can't see 07scape lasting too long if it doesn't make the 250k votes (if Jagex are planning to stay to their word). Runescape membership is already $10 for me, this extra "$15" will probably end up being over $20 in AUD. So for me it will likely cost about $30 a month. As much as I want to play and pay to play 07scape, there is no way I'm gonna hang around for longer than a few months at $30 per month. Jagex aren't stupid, and like any other business their goal is maximise profit. Now, I won't pretend to be experienced in either game-development or implementation of the infrastructure required to run such a game so take this anecdotally; But I highly doubt these levels are either arbitrary or unreasonable and the implementation of such a project much more than pro-2007scape crowd assume. Although I agree it would probably be in their best interest to reduce the price the 250k level. -

I doubt the targets are arbitrary. They will be designed so that at each level of interest, and hence estimated income, the planned changes become economically viable. -

Honestly I have no problem with the poll, and the vocal anti-2007scape crowd are just as annoying as the vocal pro-2007scape and anti-EoC crowds. The problem I have comes from the sentiment that "vote yes or you're selfish". The poll is to gauge interest in the servers, yes? By giving Jagex false data on what revenue they can expect, by voting yes if you don't plan on playing, from the project, the resources allocated to the project won't be justified by the actual revenue generated by the project. Hence there will be a loss in revenue, and it's not a stretch that this will come out of the main game development rather than Jagex's pockets. This is the problem I have with you pro-2007scape crowd yelling for everyone to vote yes. You're the ones being selfish, not those that are voting truthfully. I have no problems with the project coming to fruition if the interest is there. But encouraging giving Jagex false data on the interest in such a project is not the right way to go about it. The rest of my points address my thoughts on the prevalence of EoC hatred and the likely popularity of a 2007scape server which, in my opinion isn't even close to what the vocal pro-2007scape crowd hypothesise. -

I would disagree and say that it's made many more weapons relevant than prior to EoC. Yes, they need to balance dual-wield weapons (although they are currently higher dps 2h weapons while using momentum). But overall it's made a lot more weapons relevant than the Whip/Rapier dominance of pre-EoC. The rest of your cons are subjective.
