The game looks cool and looks like it has a lot of potential to enter the MMO competition. On the other hand, it does look a lot like RuneScape, what do you guys think?

It looks very interesting. I'll definitely be following this one to see how it does.

Tom and Brenda are responsible for some of my favorite games growing up (I still remember playing Commander Keen for hours on end, much to my mother's chagrin ), so hopefully they haven't lost their mojo.

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P.

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

I have a strange feeling it will be dead in the water given the high amount they're requesting minimum to make the game (1mil usd). I am excited, but I realistically don't think it will happen.

Only just got to the point in the video where they "tied up notch". o_O

It's a horrible pitch for how much money they're looking to get. They don't even present a story idea or anything, the most detailed they get about the game is the presentation of the game box and if they raise enough money, they'd like to build two games.

$1m USD? Heheh... that tickled.

When I posted 4 hours ago, they only had 37k. Now they're at 88k. Maybe they'll make it. Obsidian Entertainment made it for Project Eternity or something like that. And if they get Notch's hivemind to hork over some of their cash they'll easily get another 300k to follow.

I dunno. Maybe they will make it. I was not expecting them to break 100k raised on their first day that's for damn sure, and they're about to break it well before suppertime.

Never underestimate the nostalgia or disposable income of old school gamers. :P

Although this will have the old school appeal, I haven't seen an MMO besides WoW that hasn't fallen off the radar and lost a majority of subscribers.

Although, I admit, this one might find a niche in old school gamers.

Does the video explain why they can't find this amount of money through private equity? Does it say they've even tried? (Genuinely, I've not watched it)

Yes, and so do the paragraphs describing the project. They're an indie dev who wishes to stay indie. They cite the current times for requesting such a high amount in order to make it. They don't wish to use investors to fund the project. That's what they said, anyway.

Glad to know I'm not the only one to recognize them!
