starclimber
Hi all, recently got back in the swing of things earlier this year but I've pretty much got all the basics down. I've tried 3 attempts and all have failed thus far to brandish my royal crossbow. My gear:Subjugation topSubjugation bottom Subjugation helmAhrims wandDFS(magic)Gano glovesGano bootsSeers' ringAmulet of fury Inventory:Sharks(have also tried with rocktails)Super magic potionPrayer potion(x2)Prayer renewalAntifire potion War tort filled with sharks Stats:95 hp91 def99 Mage69 prayer (88 range, 90 attack, 99 str) My problem has been does which is leading to me consuming food because its taking me so long to get through phases. Praying range protect only as I've read that Mage prayers are bugged? Also using all basics + asphyxiate and the other threshold(name eludes me ATM). I've only allowed 1-2 grots to spawn before touching artifact and dodge/take 1-2 hits from most fire walls. I just can't seem to do enough damage :/. Any help at all would be much appreciated. I have a 80M Cash pile to work with. Maybe 100M if I push it.
Quyneax
Upgrade your weapon, that means either chaotic or drygore melee weapon, or chaotic crossbow. Sadly there is no way to increase your dps otherwise. I think main hand drygores are in the 70-80m range now, which means you should get one ASAP! They are very useful for a lot of things. Octarine
A tier 75+ weapon is pretty much required. Also, you can get away with using a 2h weapon and just a standard antifire, so maybe try zaryte? However you'll have to dodge the fire walls a lot more, since they hit around 1.8k a time with standard antifires and no shield. That would leave me unable to buy better armor or I would. Maybe just money making for now is better. I currently have 130K tokens, would a CCB and DFS be enough you think? I wasn't sure if antifires were for just walls, does that mean if I dodge walls enough or minimize damage taken from them then I shouldn't bother with a shield? If so, I do have a chaotic maul that I've yet to use..
Octarine
Well, the other dragonfire attacks will hit more with a standard antifire or no shield, but none really hit more than 2k a time. Give it a shot with melee (chaotic maul), but obviously when you get the message for the fire walls make sure to back off a bit :P 1 Blog of DG, Bossing (mostly Glacors) and stuff - Runetrack Play Safe! - Got useful information for the tip.it website? However I guess I'll give it a shot. My dps with melee far outweighs my magic dps, so I guess it's worth a shot.
Quyneax
You don't need better armour with drygore. Void will do. Drygores are the staple weapon of all monster hunting (except Zilyana and Kree, but okay). Once you get one, you will never want to go back to lower tier equipment. In my experience, drygores make QBD very, very easy. I used Zaryte and a mix of t85 and t70 defence before I used drygores, and my kills went from 5 minutes to 2 minutes easy once I upgraded, plus they got easier. You don't even need to watch any specials, though it helps to avoid the super fire. Drygore + dfs won't do quite as much damage as maul, but you'll take a lot less damage from fire walls, to the point that you can ignore them. Plus that Revenge is a very powerful ability if you have several worms on you. GE med price for drygore rapier is ~73m. 1 Supporter of Zaros | Quest Cape owner since 22 may 2010 | No skills below 99 | Total level 2595 | Completionist Cape owner since 17th June 2013 | Suggestions 99 summoning (18th June 2011, previously untrimmed) | 99 farming (14th July 2011) | 99 prayer (8th September 2011) | 99 constitution (10th September 2011) | 99 dungeoneering (15th November 2011) 99 ranged (28th November 2011) | 99 attack, 99 defence, 99 strength (11th December 2011) | 99 slayer (18th December 2011) | 99 magic (22nd December 2011) | 99 construction (16th March 2012) 99 herblore (22nd March 2012) | 99 firemaking (26th March 2012) | 99 cooking (2nd July 2012) | 99 runecrafting (12th March 2012) | 99 crafting (26th August 2012) | 99 agility (19th November 2012) 99 woodcutting (22nd November 2012) | 99 fletching (31st December 2012) | 99 thieving (3rd January 2013) | 99 hunter (11th January 2013) | 99 mining (21st January 2013) | 99 fishing (21st January 2013) 99 smithing (21st January 2013) | 120 dungeoneering (17th June 2013) | 99 divination (24th November 2013) Tormented demon drops: twenty effigies, nine pairs of claws, two dragon armour slices and one elite clue | Dagannoth king drops: two dragon hatchets, two elite clues, one archer ring and one warrior ring Glacor drops: four pairs of ragefire boots, one pair of steadfast boots, six effigies, two hundred lots of Armadyl shards, three elite clues | Nex split: Torva boots | Kalphite King split: off-hand drygore mace 30/30 Shattered Heart statues completed | 16/16 Court Cases completed | 25/25 Choc Chimp Ices delivered | 500/500 Vyrewatch burned | 584/584 tasks completed | 4000/4000 chompies hunted

I do have full melee void(not elite though, are the armor bonuses very different?). I will buy a rapier and use it with a DFS. Hopefully all goes well :). starclimber
Thanks quest. @tieszen then I'd be broke ;x Just wanted to say thanks to all of you for your help. I went in full void+drygore rapier and successfully brandished it a few hours ago. Messed up a lot for some reason. Was used to being at a distance, still got it though :).
