Solo / Duoing Nex

'Lo,

As of late, me and a friend of mine have been trying to duo Nex. However, we fail on the classic stage - blood. We never seem to be able to dish out enough DPS to get past it, even though I'm in Torva and he's in Bandos and we both have Drygores.

We've tried to 'bruteforce' it, by pulling adrenaline potions, opening with a Berserk and dishing out thresholds asap to no avail.

We're at a loss here; what should we be doing that we're clearly missing?

On another note, I've also been trying to solo Nex, just to get my feet wet and lose that nervous, tingling feeling you get when you first hunt her. I can perfectly solo the first two phases, much like everyone else, but I end messing up on Blood, too. Now, I immediately thought that doing the method I explained above wouldn't work in a solo (You don't need that much of a brain cell to understand that if two can't do it, neither can one), but I did see some solo videos. The most recent one I saw was a small past stream by Ambler, over on Twitch.

Trying to emulate his strategy of killing reavers / running from sacrifice, I almost, almost did it, but still ended up not getting through it. In that video, he was in Tetsu. I did this in Torva with dual Drygores and couldn't do it. Yet, in Tank armor - POP - he manages it

So, if anyone with experience has any tips they wouldn't mind sharing, please go on! Should I swap my ability bar? Should we both? Should the tank in a duo wear a shield, or must we both use dual Drygores?

(I also saw that Mith Seed trick for Ice phase. That's quite ingenious)

On the same note, if anyone wants to just share their tactics / gear / ability bar for solo / duo, I can pick it up from there.

Thanks in advance!

I duo a fair bit, both of us in Tetsu. Very rarely do we have her siphon again. It's not just the thresholds. You need to be conscious of your rotation as well. Sever and Kick are the highest hitting basics and you can also interrupt Assault early and have the damage show up. As soon as she calls a sacrifice - Run. She heals a decent bit off this, and when it happens, that's usually when we get that extra siphon.

Whether or not you're doing this already, I don't know. If you are, then I have no idea why you're not getting past blood.

As for a shield, I always have one in my invy. I tank Zaros phase always and my partner melees/ranges. I only pull it out on ice phase if he got hit badly and I need to pull her off and solo a prison or 2. Tanking on Zaros is convenient because I cut down on a lot of her healing and use very little food, so I can share with my partner. I feel the tradeoff on a slightly longer kill is worth the fact that we can stay more kills overall. Other than that, you always want to dual wield.

I've got nothing to say about soloing as I never did it, and I don't think my partner has managed to since some of the recent reworks.

Yay stream views.

My blood phase rotation is as follows:

I start the phase by hitting a reaver once (generally dismember), berserking, then basics until it dies (NOT kick/backhand/sever) if the reavers are close together, I kill the second one, if not, I go straight to nex:

Backhand, destroy, sever (blood sacrifice should just be called, if you start running before she finishes speaking, all's good and you can attack her again)

then assault and a couple of other basics, with luck you can do 1 siphon, but that's rare.

For second siphon, again kill a reaver (dismember again if you can), but if nex starts attacking you, immediately use destroy, backhand etc until siphon, when sacrifice is called, use anticipation as you're running away, then a basic followed up by Frenzy, if you've been careful with food. With some luck this makes her call Cruor, but it's about 50/50, and you may need 3-4 siphons if unlucky.

Barely awake, and got college now, but I'll find a good example later. :P

Read this earlie but forgot to reply - Thank-you a ton for that helpful info so far. I've shown this to my friend and we'll try this later on, whenever he decides to come online and stop getting drunk outside.

Editzors; We managed to do it flawlessly in a duo, with my non-tank friend barely using any food - Yay! Ice still presents a little challenge, but everything else goes well.

Thanks for the help!
