My son is trying to create a new RS account (yay! 2nd generation player! :grin:), but once we got all the details finalized it said he was 'ineligible to create an account'. We tried putting in a higher age (went from 13 to 15), but it still would not work. He has a valid email and the name isn't taken so I don't know what the problem could be.

 

Did RS3 accidentally disable account creation or something? :P

I remember when I first tried to make an account, and I put 'under 13' as my age, and it wouldn't let me sign up, even when I tried again saying I was older. It did work the next day though, so maybe trying it again will work.

It's not just rule, in the US it's law. And it's still part of the RS ToS:

 

5. A SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT Preteens And Users Under 18

Some Jagex Products may have age restrictions which prevent users under 13 creating an account. If a Jagex Product is not subject to age restrictions, a user under 13 may create an account. However, they must get consent from their parents/guardians to use the Jagex Product in accordance with our terms and conditions and privacy policy. We may Stop any account if we are not satisfied that such consent has been given or that such consent does not comply with local laws regarding users who are under 13 years of age.

 

 

We tried again last night an everything worked fine, although I did list his age as 16 this time. Maybe it was just because we tried raising his age without reloading everything the first time.

I'm pretty sure that trying to create an account and setting your age lower than 13 would just make you muted and unable to see game chat other than Quickchat until you were 13, I guess they got rid of that option.

Now you just have to register an account for him on TIF :)
