Hybrid Armor for minigames

So I've been playing a lot of castle wars and soul wars lately and I've seen people running around in full vanguard, trickster, battlemage and sometimes having some pieces of one set and some pieces of another. I was wondering what a good set is if I'm planning on using melee and ranged. Also I was wondering if anyone would know what a good combination would be so I could have good block rates against all 3 attack styles. And does anyone use familiars in minigames anymore?

Those are PvP hybrid armor, as far as I know, only have stats and effect in PvP games.

the 3 sets are Vanguard (Melee/Ranged hybrid, but weak to magic), Trickster (Ranged/Magic Hybrid, but weak to melee) and Battlemage (Melee/Mage Hybrid, but weak to ranged).

It takes a LOT of effort and pain to get them though (you'll need to play two obscure pvp games, Fight Pit and Fist of Guthix)

They are all really messed up in EOC and these weaknesses are not necessarily true anymore. This is also why you see people mix-matching sets.

I used to play Soul Wars a lot and I actually had all of the hybrid sets, I would try joining some of the bigger SW FCs or CCs and asking there.

Weakness were changed so Vanguard is weak to melee, Trickster is weak to ranged and Battlemage is weak to magic.

This was at least true in February, I assume it still is now. Dunno if they got statted down to level 70 too (because level 85 hybrid), would be kind of sad if that were true.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

And I remember a month before that Battlemage was weak to nothing and had no negative attack bonuses. Like I said, I really recommend asking the guys who still play all of the time.

The only silver lining of them being hard to get is:

Cwars, swars and pc parts are all relatively easy to get as the games run

Fight Pits will require a boosting partner but you and a friend can do it easily and it is one of the faster pieces to start turning up.

FoG is the real pita but fogboosters fc usually manages to get up and running once or twice a week and you can get the gloves in 1 session with them if you are lucky.

It's nowhere near 'hundreds' of hours to get.

Body Fight Pits takes ~200-250 wins for first piece, 300 for all 3 which is like ~9 hours.

Helm Cwars 50-80 for first, 10-15 more for all 3 ~36 hours

Gloves FoG ~150 wins for first pair, ~200 wins for all 3. Assuming 50:50 boosting and a generous 1 minute a game ~6 hours

Boots Pc usually talking 600 wins for all 3 which should only take ~10 hours

Legs from swars you are talking ~40 hours

All totaled you are in the ball park of 100 hours.

It is a lot of time for a largely useless item, but completionist often like to get it and fashionscapers quite like the sets too and it is certainly not 'hundreds' of hours, ballpark of 100 all in all for all 3 sets in full with cwars and swars eating most of the time. HOWEVER arguably anyone with intent to get comp (t) at any point can write off the time spent in cwars for the armour anyway which takes you down to like 60-70 hours.

Gloves took me 2 hours and that was for 2 of each set, and yeah I got all of my helms (around 40 of each) while I was hoarding gold tickets.
