Are shantay passes worthless now?

Yet another item that isn't as useful as it used to be.

 

Blood runes aren't worth it anymore as they aren't required for combat spells anymore. I can no longer melee magical creatures as the dragonhide no longer defends me from their magical moves.

 

Also, when I cross the shantay gate, none of my shantay passes are taken away from me.

 

So should I get rid of them?

They are talking about runes being used for all casting of spells now, so I would hang on to any missiles runes (mind, chaos, death, blood) that you may have until we know more about what will happen to make runes more valuable.

 They are talking about making spells consume ammo when using abilities, not about altering the rune costs of the spells themselves.

 

But anyway as pointed out above blood runes ARE useful as ancient mage still uses them.

Shanty passes are however worthless, as you can pass for free now.

 

Also dragonhides still give the best protection from magic attacks, as ranged is strong to magic, but weak to melee - however you cannot melee in it as mismatching body/legs/shield class with your weapon class nerfs accuracy heavily.

Sorry when I said all casting. I meant when using abilities. Thanks for the clarification I guess I wasn't very clear in my explanation.

It didn't help that you included 2 rune types that are not used in combat magic anymore (mind and chaos).

If I recall, it deducts 200 coins from your coin pouch for the ease of going through the pass quickly.

Nope. It costs nothing to pass Shantay Pass now.

Well, the thing about it is I only collect useful items.

 

I have a zamorak godsword, granite maul, abyssal whip and all sorts of dragon weapons.

 

If an item just looks good but has nothing more to it than just that I usually sell or drop it, simple as that.

You kinda undermined your argument of 'useful' when you kept a granite maul, since its rather low level junk surpassed by the ZGS, whip and dragon weaponry.
