Elemental Sweatshop 3

Recommended Posts

I hate this quest. IMO worse than mourning's end part 2 (which I liked). The puzzle isn't even hard. It is just annoying and the interface is terribad. And the rewards...17k total experience, 50 coal, and useless armor? At least Mourning's end part 2 had a good worthwhile reward. Hopefully if/when Elemental Sweatshop 5 comes out, there are better rewards (of course I'm not expecting prifddinas sized rewards--maybe like 50k smithing exp or something. Anything is better than what ew3 gives.).

That doesn't sound like quite enough for a tedious quest, yeah. It does have rather minimal requirements though (including 33 Smithing). If you give too much XP everyone will get many free levels straight off one quest...maybe a larger lamp only usable at a higher Smithing level would compensate.

It is easily the worst quest in the game. Even with a guide, the quest takes an huge amount of time because the puzzle is so slow and repetitive.

“I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”

“Do you have any regrets?”

“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”

“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”

“Mmmhmm.”

I was expecting something completely different from the topic... oh well.

Don't hate on my favourite quest line, rewards are irrelevant when you enjoy an awesome quest!

The quest is nothing but making 2 bars (which we had to do like 6 times throughout the series so far) and doing that stupid puzzle. There is no dialogue, no rewards, and a super long and boring puzzle. If that is your favorite line of quests, you must be a sadist or something.

I'm sorry that you don't enjoy the challenge of a complex puzzle and putting your brain to the test.

Just hand me free exp for clicking next next next!

Well complex and well-designed/intriguing are two different concepts. I haven't done this quest but I could illustrate with other games I guess. Also, don't forget the poor space bar. Mine is already having problems and I haven't even quested on this computer at all!

There still is some storyline though, the book.

Don't you get the book at the beginning of the quest though?

I also don't mind puzzles. Like, the puzzles in EW4 were fine. They were just as "challenging" without spending 45 minutes running circles and pulling levers.

Uhm, "sadist"?  Excuse me, but did you perhaps mean "masochist" instead? :uhh:

Sadist, term for those who derive pleasure from the suffering of others, i.e. making them do an alleged painfully tedious puzzle :XD:.

Yeah, he likes quests with bad puzzles so that he can sit and stroke his evil beard while other people suffer from doing them.

Yeah, he likes quests with bad puzzles so that he can sit and stroke his evil beard while other people suffer from doing them.

What I'm getting at is that @Kaur is inflicting this on theirself.  Therefore it appears to me that the word "masochist" is more accurate, as being a 'noun' is defined as "a person who is gratified by pain, degradation, etc., that is self-imposed or imposed by others".  As far as I know, a "sadist" only inflicts on others, not on themselves.  In this case, I would see Jagex as the "sadists" as they made the item in the first place, while anyone doing this item that they've produced would be the "masochists" as they're the victims of this situation. :-k

What's your take on this, though?  I'm still trying to understand... :?

That's the thing, replace the controls for that puzzle with a control panel where you don't have to take forever running back and forth between levers and, as if by magic, the quest becomes a million times better.
