Is Solomon's general store even worth it?

Featured Replies

So I checked it and apparently it just gives me the ability to customize how my character's design is.

I don't care about that, no one can see it anyway as I'm always in my dragon armor.

If this store had useful stuff like sharks, rune bars, nature runes and stuff like that I'd maybe be interested in it.

But as it stands, at least from what I gathered, there are no items to be bought there. Just things for my outfit that's only visible if I'm not wearing anything.

Bank boosters and aura's, and a few more thingies (like wicked pouch), other than that no.

They're overrides they appear over anything when you're not in a PVP area.

Please read. It's on every single thing in there.

Wicked pouch, Bank Boosters and Legendary pets have benefits that aren't cosmetic.

Soloman's is mostly cosmetic - but people WILL see it.

They are all overrides, meaning they appear instead of what you are actually wearing (other than in pvp areas)

The only ones that aren't overrides (in terms of appearance based things) is hair styles, but even then with the 'hide helmet' override or other non-full helm overrides it can be seen.

All the people you see around who appear to be wearing no armour but are fighting? Those are all Soloman's overrides.

The appeal of them is, if you are enjoy the playing with cosmetic look of your character, you get to do so without sacrificing wearing the best gear you can. You can be wearing nothing, bronze, tetsu, sirenic, dragon whatever you like and you'd look exactly the same with overrides turned on.

But yeah there are a few useful things - certain auras rock, bank boosters can be handy, keepsake keys to make in-game items into overrides.

I don't know about these Auras, but I am willing to give them a chance, I was gonna do research on them after seeing that video on YouTube listing the best ones, but since I'm a moron I didn't get around to it yet.

As for wearing armor without making it look that way. That's stupid. I don't wear armor just for the defense bonuses, I also wear armor since I think it looks cool. But I know some people like doing that, I'm not looking down on them for that.

That's why I wear dragon armor and not Bandos as I think Bandos looks ugly.

I agree, it doesn't make sense imo, but seeing as many people do it, and they pay for it (so more money to jagex), why not. At least it gives more diversity in the game.

You do realise that exact reasoning is why overrides exist right?

So you can have the stats from Bandos but not have to look ugly from wearing it.

They expressly allow you to gain the stats you desire and the looks you desire instead of limiting stats in order to avoid ugly armour.

Yeah it's mainly a cosmetics shop with a few useful things mixed in, thankfully not too much game-breaking in there (yet?).

"Fight for what you believe in, and believe in what you're fighting for." Can games be art?
