Blaze The Movie Fan
I remember when I used to go to Taverly dungeon to use a dragon halberd on the black dragons there. Yeah, sure it was a slow progress but it was worth it since I saved a lot of food since I could kill them without having to waste any of my food. Of course that's not possible anymore because dragons now use magic. Not only that greater demons use magic as well, in that troll town cave. So do halberds have any use anymore? I am not getting rid of my dragon halberd any time soon because I collect weapons, but I have a feeling I will have no use for that except being in my collection. Arceus
I guess it terms of general utility it has a larger reach and is cheaper than other dragon weapons. It also has a special attack which might be useful in some niche situations with mobs, but as you mention the former safespotting ability is probably not so applicable anymore with more monsters using multiple types of combat these days. Poppet
Halberds are in theory completely better than weapons of the same tier. As they have extra range for free. The big issues are: The extra range doesn't apply to some abilities, notebly both the 2h thresholds. To add since your increased range doesn't put you in range for those abilities you have to do so manually. There isn't a tier 90 one. Completely free in legacy. Still better than other weapons of the same tier.

Blaze The Movie Fan
Even in 07 they were worse to use then other weapons in their level range, so I'd argue they've always been useless Not exactly, they used to be useful if you wanted to kill a monster from a long distance without having to waste any runes or ranged weapons. But that's not the case anymore since there now are barely any monsters that only use melee. Granted, using a dragon halberd was a slow progress, but it was still worth it, especially if you have patience like I do.
chenw
Well lots have changed in EoC, basically, a general rule of thumb is that the usefulness of the weapon is determined solely by its level (with a few exceptions, such as say a shieldbow). Its special attack, if any, is no longer a relevant thing because the special attacks are tied to the weapon stats. For example, in terms of pure damage, a pair of drygores will do 50% more damage than a dragon halberd, or even a pair of claws, no special attack, no matter how powerful, is going to remedy that. I haven't even taken accuracy into account of that comparison, which makes higher tier weapons even higher still above a lower tier weapon. IE, old tier weapons, once you get higher tier, no longer have any practical use in EoC. 6,924th to 30 hunting, 13,394th to 30 summoning, 52,993rd to 30 DivinationKiln Record (Post-EoC): W 25 - L 0, 14 Uncut Onyx, 8 Jad hits received (Best record: Two in the same kiln)Obby set renewed post update #2: 0QBD drops: 21 crossbow parts, 3 Visages, 1 Kites, 2 KitsMax Port Score [2205] Achieved: 27th April 2013 (World 2nd) Farmyard Rampage ranking: 12th, 50,000 Kills. Poppet
Dragon Halberd? You know there has been the Crystal and Attuned Crystal Halberd tier 70 and 80 respectively. They're viable and definitely have that extra benefit.

They had real shitty dps so you'd be better off using protection prayers or shoving monkfish down your throat. They were only useful for a handful of quests iirc, even then they weren't ideal: they just made the fights less stressful.
