FooK-A-Ji
Wouldnt it be sooooo l33t if we could make a custom config like Counterstrike ? like put gl_picmip 2 on and interpolate etc etc :D That would pwn so much, so like n00bs who don't like about config would sux0r when pking, cuz the l33t configs got good ping ! So like catching would be easier for a l33t config guy rather than a normal guy. Its just a silly thought, but I wanted to share it with you hehe .. It would r0x0r.. Personally I have spent 5 hours customizing my config for CS :D

Lord_Muijs
i have never played counterstrike (if i'd try that on my PC we'd have the tsjernobyl disaster all over again, but this time in the Netherlands) so i don't really know what you mean (and your "l33t" spelling hasn't really helped much) but your basically saying that, people with not much computer knowlegde would be playing LagScape, and constantly die to random events etc. sounds like you just want "fr33 st00fs". that's mean dude, that's really mean...... Barihawk
Fook...how exactly would you customize runescript? I highly doubt Jagex would make thier source code available. FooK-A-Ji
Fook...how exactly would you customize runescript? I highly doubt Jagex would make thier source code available. they could release a limited version of runescript, one that would allow you to tamper with certain performance aspects of the game, just a couple codes one could write in the "config" hehe. dwarfie76
Fook...how exactly would you customize runescript? I highly doubt Jagex would make thier source code available. They wouldn't need to, an API which allowd certain paramaters to be tweaked would be all they'd need to do. The config files themselves would need to be uploaded to Jagex servers because of the browser/applet security model, but it could be done.
bjbj1991
Next to everything can be done on a computer. But this would require huge files to be savved on their servers. that means they need space on their servers for the infomation and bandwidgh to give you it back unless its for one computer only. Also if anything is transferd to the jagex servers there is a high risk that it could contain a virus. overall its not worth it, the easiest way they could do it is by saving art files on your computer and allowing you to download graphis pacts or make your own using pain or something. To FooK-A-Ji 1st--Get a new username-it is not allowed here-or atleast shouldnt be 2nd--Use english-I dont care if you use capitalisation if you get fs on spelling-just dont use excessive "leet speek"-it lowers your apperant intelegence and also is dificult to read. 3rd--because you are new to tip.it this is a list of rules that you may or may not have missed http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=480329

dwarfie76
Next to everything can be done on a computer. But this would require huge files to be savved on their servers. Huge files? Open notepad, add approximately thirty lines of text at roughly 15 - 30 characters per line. Save it and look at the file size. Then explain how that fits any definition of "huge". that means they need space on their servers for the infomation and bandwidgh to give you it back unless its for one computer only. Which they already have to store your profile, all information about your skill levels, your bank, inventory, quest status etc, etc, etc. A few extra lines of text wouldn't make a great deal of difference. Also if anything is transferd to the jagex servers there is a high risk that it could contain a virus. If you can explain how it would be possible to embed a virus in an ascii file I'm sure there is a high-paid job in computer security waiting for you. overall its not worth it, the easiest way they could do it is by saving art files on your computer and allowing you to download graphis pacts or make your own using pain or something. And that would somehow be 'easier' than allowing paramaters to be tweaked via a config script? Exactly how much experience in developing distributed internet applications do you have? Barihawk
I for one would not want to insult someone who just got out of Fook's situation. It would not be smart in a CON-tinuous kind of way. Regardless, it would be too much of a strain on the server. I find the best way to account for lag is to adjust the music volume. Seriously, it works. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. I was assuming it was art files that he wanted to coustemise because most people know that anything else would give him an advantage in the game. Huge is also relitive, to an ant anything looks huge but to people you have large building and elephants. For our accounts it takes jagex about 5 bytes to store any bank item, so about 5kilobytes to store your entire bank and maby 10 kilobytes for everything. Well say you make a 100 line file in notpade and save it with the adverage line being 20 characters long. Now you have 2kilobytes and jagex now needs to increase there space by 20%. Now you also have to find this file in a few hundred thousand and send this file to the client every time it logs in. Also if anything is transferd to the jagex servers there is a high risk that it could contain a virus. Jagex has thousands of players ticked off at them, all it takes is one to breat threw their firewall or even tell the world about it and have everyone break down the system. dwarfie76
I was assuming it was art files that he wanted to coustemise because most people know that anything else would give him an advantage in the game. No more so than weilding a whip gives someone an advantage in the game. If all the options are open to all players, then it's not an 'unfair' advantage if he kills me just because I prefer to use my bronze dagger. Huge is also relitive, to an ant anything looks huge but to people you have large building and elephants. For our accounts it takes jagex about 5 bytes to store any bank item, so about 5kilobytes to store your entire bank and maby 10 kilobytes for everything. Now you also have to find this file in a few hundred thousand and send this file to the client every time it logs in. Jagex are already continuously expanding the amount of information they need to store about players. Every time they add new items or quests they need to store new information about all their players. And even if they did allow 2kb files (which would be a very large number of paramaters) the storage requirements for all runescape players would still only register in the gigabyte range. And, since all the computation occurs on the server, there would be no real reason to send the file back to the user every time - and if they did it would not account for a great deal of that red bar we sit and look at for five seconds every time we load up. Jagex has thousands of players ticked off at them, all it takes is one to breat threw their firewall or even tell the world about it and have everyone break down the system. How would giving the ability to upload a plain-text config file make them any more or less likely to have their security breached?
