Question..(not to be vague or anything)

Featured Replies

So I haven't heard anything from a band I've been digging for a while and come to find out they had to stop touring and any album work because they were so far in debt. They are currently working blue-collar jobs just to pay back the debt so they can try and get back to music. Dedication.

Anyway, I realized if I was in the right financial situation I'd pretty much give them whatever money they needed to fund their endeavours (sp?) from here on out.

So my question is, does anyone know of this happening where some individual or company outside of the music business has funded a band because they liked them so much? If I had a million dollars to give I would give, assuming I would be able to hang with them some and such.

Funny you should say that...

Or, they maybe wouldn't be in debt if everyone bought albums, instead of downloading music...

About your question: I suppose it happened several times, maybe even with small garage bands (someone gives them money for their first show maybe?).

It would be like those reinassance (sp?) patrons who used to give money to painters, sculptors and writers to keep them producing :)

Not really, the label gets more profits. Better donating directly.

Wow that's an amazing coincidence. This is exactly what I was talking about too.

Or if they were good, they could make all their money from touring like everyone else does (y)

Artists get pretty much nothing from an album sale.

Or how about the reason they are in debt is from touring so much? They charged their fans nothing most of the time or such a little amount it didn't help.
