FF Wont Block Tip.its ads..

Featured Replies

Whenever I block tip.its ads, it'll block them, but if I click refresh or go to a new site and come back to Tip.it I'll have to adblock them again, and I was wondering if anyone could help me with that.

What OS are you using? What version? What version of Firefox? What version of adblock? Are you using wildcards (eg. *.tribalfusion.com/* *burstnet.com/* etc. )

I implore you not to block all tip.it ads. Tip.it relies on advertising revenue to survive. If the ads don't get seen and people don't click on them, are you willing to pay several hundred dollars a month for the server and hosting? (That's just a guess on the cost btw.) I suggest using Firefox's inbuilt popup blocker to block popups and Flashblock to block intrusive flash ads, but leaving regular ads alone.

Of course you could always donate, and then you'd have a clear conscience blocking ads.

I don't see why you would block all Tip.It ads  Just block the flash ads and popups, those are the only ones which lag your computer and are annoying... works great for me anyhow...

But then again, if you donate from time to time you can block the ads without feeling bad... and i mean, donating 5 bucks to the site once a year or something like that is really all thats needed, not like we're asking for much :P

Anyways, reply on what cameron said, then i bet he'll be able to help you out as usual :D

if everyone who came here donated there would be no need for the ads in the first place

As far i know, there is a way evade in-browser popup blockers and some ads uses it. U need some else blocker. Yes i know, ads keep sites alive, but evading blockers is very agressive type of advertising and i think they deserve blocking.

Well, if you didnt block them in the first place and insetad clicked the normal ones when we had those we wouldnt need to use popup's and other agressive ads would we? ;) Or even better, if you could just get a few people together and donate 1 buck or even less a month to the site we wouldnt have the problems at all... If you donate, go ahead and block the ads and feel good about it, if not, i don't see how you can even complain about it...

But let's not turn this into another "moral of ad blocking" topic, there has been enough of those already i think...

I once suggested the idea of "membership" to the admins about 3 years ago Jeppe ;)

Will prob be a project down the lines, right now i have bigger things though, and we can just get by with the money the ads bring in, but later on it might be relevant to make :)
