Discuss Pink Floyd. Myself, i've only own the Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and Animals. I plan on buying Piper at the Gates of Dawn though, i hear its really good. Next time i stop by a cd store i'll probably grab it. I love Roger Water's lyrical work and David Gilmour's excellence on guitar, one of my all time favorite guitarists, and how they had all those like experimental sounds on their instruments and amps to give it that pychedelic effect like i heard they used ball bearings sliding up and down their guitar strings. I never really listened to much when Syd Barrett really lead Pink Floyd, did he only record Piper at the Gates of Dawn with them? Also list your favorite songs by Floyd. Mine are (not in order) Young Lust, Time, Hey You, Money, Us and Them, Brain Damage, the Show Must go On, Comfortably Numb, Waiting for the Worms, Pigs (Three Different Ones) (what is that like screechingish sounding solo around halfway through the song?) Shine on You Crazy Diamond pt. 1/2, Speak to Me/Breathe (this song really does a good job leading into DSotM with the heart beating and all the sounds you hear throughout the album), Have a Cigar, Welcome to the Machines, Wish You Were Here. Also I wanted to see one of their live concerts, so i bought Live in Pompeii. It isn't a live dvd, like i watched Echoes and Brain Damage on it then turned if off since i had to finish something, probably finish it over the weekend, but is just like videos of just them performing? And is the Wall dvd worth watching? I watched the Who's Tommy and absolutely hated it, loved the music, but the movie was terrible imo. Discuss please. Echoes (Pompeii Version) Comfortably Numb - Live A Saucerful Of Secrets - (Pompeii Version) Careful with that axe Eugene THE ENTIRE WALL album.. omg.. :| and of course the entire DSOTM album. but love it all... i even have some solo gilmour and waters. stuff. @is the wall worth watching -IMO, you dont experience the full "floyd" without seeing it. u must see it. However, I guess I just never got many of their songs, and the ones I did were realy quiet. Although, I may try and get more, because early this year someone brought in The Wall (DVD) to class for a project. anyways, we watched it, and the music was amazing. However, i'm not a huge fan of the genre (not sure what you could call it realy, but stuff like this and led zepplin), even though I have a lot of respect and can listen to their songs and enjoy it. The way they texture and layer sounds, and use everyday objects and noises is fantastic. Great guitar work as well. I love the way the albums evolve and one song will move seamlessly onto the next. I have a lot of albums from them, the best for me are : "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason", "Wish You Were Here", "The Dark Side Of The Moon" (the all time classic) and the list goes on! One of my friends has the so called "Black Box", its the collection of the best albums digitally remasterd in Japan. There are only 10000 of them in the world. Roger and David are one two of the most recognized voices in music... i dunno.. im just to over-protective.. but seriously.. the names of the songs u listen to boogie.. YTF?!
