Heh, good thing I had my license when I got pulled over for going 78mph in a 55 zone >.<

All in all, it'll cost around $300 if I get a diversion :x

a
diversion
? whats that?

Pay $120 extr and it doesn't go on any records, so your insurance doesn't go up. You have to meet certain requirements though, like no violations in the past 6 months.

Damn I glad Australia doesn't have that BS.

Beening able to buy your way out of getting a bad driving record is stupid.

It's not much better than bribing the damn cop who pulls you over to not give you the ticket + fine in the first place :ugh:

From what I've read it's pretty strict and is only really for the "accidental" type things that only happen once or twice a year... Now if you do get quite a few violations a year, then you obviously wont be able to get it diverted :P

"Sorry officer, I 'accidentally' went 20mph over the speed limit!"

That's a loaded scenario :P

In Canada we have a rule (maybe in all other countries too) that if you hit someone from behind, you are at fault, no matter what. So if some loser who hates his car were to slam his brakes on for no reason right in front of you (to try and get money out of you because you'll be at fault) and you were to hit him, I think that that would be a good scenario where buying yourself out of a ticket would be legit.

Heh, I'd like to see how well their claims go when you acuse them of inciting an accident for personal gain.

That's illegal. At least here if you can prove they had no reason to stop - they're at fault.

Just like when my mate was driving down the coast and some [bleep] slammed on his breaks after pulling onto the motor way in front of him.

Well, it was an accident ^_^

I also don't think diversions cover much more than speeding

When will everyone learn? Get a valentine radar scanner or that new escort! Them things are a life savior to me. Or have you also noticed truckers can go 80 to 85 on the interstate without getting caught? Try getting a CB also. (I don't know how the CB works but I heard thats how truckers get off)

Geez, you got shafted. In Texas, we have "deferred adjudification" which basically means going on probation for 6 months and having to re-take driver's education. I only ended up paying $215 since it gave a discount to the ticket price, as well. 71 in a 55. Didn't lose the liscense, either.
