Pay To Play - Too Expensive?

Featured Replies

I don't think it's overpriced at all. For instance 3 months of p2p in rs is the equivalent to 1 month in WoW.

I think the p2p price is pretty good as it is.

Whaaaa? to expensive? I myself would rather pay the 5 dollars a month than play any other game. I also dont think there should be a lifetime option because it would decrease the income of jagex by way to much.

As a refrence point, the minimal wage is almost $5 for an hour. And that's just minimal wage.

Thank the world for spell checkers.

personally I think it is too much. I'm in canada so it would be close to $8 a month, and with me still in school it still adds up. I know I know, it's only like 26 cents a day, but I'm cheap. I guess that's why I'm f2p! lol

furthermore, it's not like they have to do anything extra for you when you become p2p, they simply activate your account, that's it. it doesn't cost them nearly $100 a year to keep an account going...

I don't think it's too much because games such as WoW and even Shattered galaxy are 10-15 dollars a month, much more then runescape. It really doesn't cost that much.

5$ a month is not a lot. Period. Even to people with low wages, 5$ a month is not a lot (it seems to them that it is mainly because it's 5$ added to what they'd have to spend otherwise, it's the straw the broke the camels back )

I myself now pay 15$ (USD) a month to play eve-online. Even then, a month is a LONG time, and it's not hard to save up the money if you reall want to.

Think of it this way:

I pull a 5$ bill out of my pocket.

With this bill, I could go to mcdonalds and buy myself a hamburger and some fries.

Or, I could send it to jagex and get to play P2P for a WHOLE MONTH. Think of just how much gametime you get to have in a month.

It's only been a month since I started playing eve, and I now have a large assortment of ships and a hangar full of snowballs and snowball launchers (tradeable christmas drop from last year, the FIRST ever eve tradeable holiday drop, and not one of my friends managed to figure out why I'd gone and spent the bulk of my money on them :P *crossess fingers and hopes that eve follows RS in rare trends*)

Rather then focus on the fee, which is what most people seem to do, focus on just how many hours of fun you're going to get by paying the fee.

Quit runescape, now playing EVE-Online(Mail Cambarus and say hi  )

$5... People think that is too much? Really, if your a kid, get a job and it should be nothing. I work as a caddy and I can make anywhere from $50-$100 for 4 hours. 4 hours of work can cover a whole year+ of membership. It's not nearly too high of a price.
