Thoughout the months I've seen tons and tons of players being called "n00bs" and "newbs."

 

 

 

My question is, what's the level range in which players are actually called "n00bs"/"newbs"?

 

 

 

Well, of course no one calls a level 126er a "n00b," yet, others may call a level 20er a "n00b." So, obviously, the level 100+ players aren't "n00bs," but, again, what's the level range? :?

A n00b can my anyone who acts annoying or babyish.... It's really stupid insult actually :?

If someone acts immature or offensive they are a noob. If someone doesn't have much knowledge of the game they're a newb. Levels don't really affect my judgement. :)

Newb = New Player. Even if you see a lvl 88, a complete beginner might be behind there.

 

 

 

Noob = Someone who acts as though they are new; bad attitude; stupid(though this is often the case it isn't really nice because just because someone doesn't know how to click the door because a tree is the way and can't change to camera view. It just means they haven't learnt that part of the game yet.)

 

 

 

So newbs/noobs can be any range, depending on how they act and who they really are.

 

 

 

Note: I didn't know how to change the camera view til I was level 10 or so. SO I;ve been playing with the camera facing north. I laugh about it now. :D

The level range for a noob and a newb is between 3 - 126.

 

Your level doesn't reflect your knowledge or experience in the game (Newb).

 

Your level doesn't reflect your playing attitude, maturity and nature to other players (Noob).

I still consider myself to be a newb or newby. I joint about half a year ago. As far as I can see noob (or n00b) is mainly being used as an insult or to provoke a verbal or physical reaction.

 

 

 

Ive been called noob a lot of times for correcting other peoples behaviour (like mining someone elses coal in the mining guild: "coal for one and mith for all" is my motto). Sometimes it is used to provoke you to go into the wilderness to teach that person a lesson. In most cases you'll then be welcomed by a PK team and either get slaughtered or have to start running.

 

 

 

I personally never call anyone a noob and dont care if im called one. I usally reply with: "and proud to be". I consider it to be an honorary nickname

There aren't any level ranges for a n00b...

 

 

 

n00b: Someone who is annoying, babyish, or pathetic.

 

 

 

Newb(ie): Someone who is new to the game, normally level 3 - 40. (Depending on your combat level it depends... I think of level 70s as newbies sometimes.

Ive seen a level 126 call another level 126 a noob purely on their behavior, its not something everyone does based on level some do it based on how stupid some people are =)

The term noob is really overused in runescape though. I remember walking around runescape for my first month constantly being greeted by other players with that pet name. It really aggrivated me because half of the people that would call me one would then in turn go on to do some noobish thing, like the mining thing that bonus_malus mentioned. I try to stay away from using the term unless someone really shows their behind and deserves it. Though in passing I try to be more helpful to newer players because there were a few higher levels that extended me the same courtesy.

The term 'noob/n00b/newb' in my opinion is over-used and too commercialised. Personally I believe the term to be a rather 'noobish' phrase to use to insult another Runscape player.

 

Most of the time you'll find that the term is used by a rather new player because it makes them feel experienced. Others use it to provoke players so that they will fight them in the wilderness. The more mature players use it when they are annoyed by other players as a result of their inexperience and ignorance.

 

But what determines you're a 'noob/n00b/newb'? Everybody classifies 'noobs/n00bs/newbs' differently. Some base it on combat level alone, others on the player behind the character on the game. You cannot generalise what seperates a 'noob/n00b/newb' from an experienced player. It all comes down the every person as an individual. The question cannot be answered.

Noob-n. originally meant to mean a person who acts as if they are a newb but in reality are not; commonly used now as an insult; jerk; mentally challenged; used to insult someone when the insulter thinks the insultie is stupid, has done something wrong, or has done something that the insulter does not like

 

 

 

If you did something the insulter did not like and were called a NOOB, don't take it seriously. He(/she) thinks they are higher than you and has the right to down-size you. In my opinion, the real NOOBS are the players going around calling everyone else a NOOB for no reason other than to make themself feel/seem higher.

most of the times there are 2 raisons why people call ME a noob:

 

1)I am lower(skill or cb)

 

2)I do something that they don't like(owning them at cw, not selling an item that they want so badly)

After quitting RS 4 years ago and coming back, I constantly find myself asking newbie questions to players who are often half my combat level. I don't feel ashamed! I am level 95 and I consider myself a huge newb still. *^_^*

most lower lvl players call me one because they dont get stuff or the kills.... thats life :wink:
