I've just tried it in ull rune, and seem to be getting far more splashes than i'd expect. Can anyone set this straight? The barrow brothers have extremely high magic penalties, so it doesn't matter what your magic bonus is against them, so ppl are posting that Magic Dart isn't affected by magic bonus, as the dart is the most common spell used there. Unitedite Posted May 9, 2006 Author Share Posted May 9, 2006 Cba to do a comprehensive test, but it seems i've answered my own question Attacking mountain trolls (my mage is 80) Mage bonus -65: 20 splashes in a row Mage bonus +80: 1 splash in 12 casts No question in my mind that mage bonus does effect slayer staff. Which kinda makes me wonder why the hell so many people use it for barrows :/ Twice the cost of fire bolt, and with chaos gaunts the dart doesnt seem 'that' much better... shade_bandyt Posted May 9, 2006 Share Posted May 9, 2006 i think the idea with using slayer dart with barrows is that you get about 100 deaths from the chest on average, whether you get a barrows piece or not. you also get quite a few minds as well. so slayer dart is used because it pays for itself Are you a member with a full bank and cancelling your subscription? But still... you could sell the runes you get and buy twice as many runes for fire bolt instead? Are people really that lazy? If anyone else has other info. feel free to say so.. Today at barrows, i went the first time with rune legs and black mystic top, farseer and zammy cape with elemental shield and slayer staff. It took me more time than usual. Second time, i used black d hide bottom with the items stated above. Less misses this time. But rather than repeat myself and Leesters, let me just note that both you and I have lvl 88 Mage, and therefore don't splash very often at all. Besides, the Abbys are weak :roll: . Same goes for Rex, as when I used to use Charged Claws on him I hit a 30 at least 3-5 times a kill in Verac armor. They just have weak Mage defense, and we have strong(ish) Magic stats. [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.
