What is wrong with the wonderful Gif?

i save mine as jpg, and theres not much quality loss, PNG's can get big. i hope you realise that all these sigs are too big for the boards?

PNG is a file format as JPG or GIF.

 

PNG keeps the quality and the file size wont get big. Its the best.

Humm, nothing when used for animations, but it makes a little quality loss in images tho. Small thing, I used to same mine in GIF sometime ago ^^

Humm, JPG has a great loss of quality depending on what you doing. PNG can get as small as a JPG easily.

 

And yeas, those sigs are huge!

sorry, I orginally made these for other boards where 500x150 is standard (these are 400x150) whats the max for these boards again? Also I'm planning on learning a bit with animation so I'm saving most of my stuff as GIF so I can modify it. (just got flash 8 this week)

I agree with that, most grunges and abstracts do not suffer noticably much but for pixles......... PNG just cause without the colors look horrible.these are decent sigs btw...a kinda different style than most

lol you guys are debating waht program he used by just what his signatures look like, wow you must have agood eye for that sort of thing.

 

 

 

another thing on the png/gof (or evern .jpg) is that .jpg (and .gif i think too) are lossy, whereas .png is lossless compression. .tff is o.k. too, but its usually slightly larger tahn .png. i just don't like .gif pictures for some reason, animations are usually ok, but pictures alre always weird.

also, the reason for .gif is that it can only use tha 8 but color palette.

actually I use GIMP, most of this is fairly basic options in one menu (the alex one is one of the easiest, it took about 10 minutes to make, most of the others were a couple hours trying to get the options to work together)
