"Skype.com - unlimited calls from PC to telephones for free

Skype is a cool service which allows you to make calls from your PC to another PC anywhere in the world for free. Today, Skype announced a promotion where any Skype user can make unlimited calls from their PC to any telephone in the US and Canada. This is a promotion that will expire on December 31, 2006. After then, phone calls from a PC to a telephone will incur a fee."

I just started using it. It's pretty convenient not using a phone (I sound so lazy, there's one right next to me), but it's nice just holding a mic up with two fingers and the sound coming from the computer speakers. It's a quick download from http://www.skype.com and it's a cool thing to have.

If anyone I know downloads this, let me know and I'll give you my skype name to talk. Mods, can we post our skype names here since it's basically like talking on a phone?

heh, just saw the news on digg. pretty cool, although i dont need it, since i never use the phone

I'd stick with the phone since there's nothing wrong with it, and I don't do any long-distance calls. Besides, I'd rather talk while lying down in my bed than sit in front of the computer.

Though I might use it for a few prank calls <.< How does it show on a caller ID?

Can that make calls to Cell's?

As caller1 on my Mom's phone.

Yeah. Not sure if the pricing for the cell's receiving is long distance or anything though.

Oh, long-distance calls aren't allowed? -edit, nvm

Calling people on Skype is totally free. It's also free to call landlines and mobiles within the US and Canada until the end of the year. International calls are pretty cheap too.

I guess calling cellphones are allowed :)

ui. i love skype. usefull for calls oversea.... very useful. and cheap , might be not the cheapes all the time but you dont have to search for the number...

Yeah my dad showed me that a few months ago, and I used it one time. None of my friends felt like dealing with it so I had no one to talk to. Plus I don't have a microphone :x . Really neat though.
