Today somebody supposedly entered my high school with a pistol. The school was locked down from 8:00 to 3:00-ish while SWATs came in and patted EVERY PERSON IN THE SCHOOL DOWN. That's right, everybody in the school was frisked, and I was stuck in my first period for the entire day with no lunch. Around noon we turned on the television to CNN and it showed our school on national television as some of the SWATs "stormed" the school. I might have thought it a bad day, but it was so awesome to see the SWAT guys. Take Counter-Strike and that's pretty much what these guys were - helmets, kevlar, and GUNS - M4s, Commandos, M16s, MP5s, Glocks, Beretta 92s, and Glocks. In the class. Searching our bags and persons. Being the first time I'd seen an automatic assault weapon outside of a glass case, it was just so awesome. The experience was just so kick-wagon, despite what some might say.

But what I don't understand is that we have had quite a few bomb scares this year, and what do you think has more killing potential, a kid with no military training and a 9mm or a pipe bomb? And which actually got reported on NATIONAL TELEVISION? That's what I don't get. But no complaints as to how they handled it, they were extremely thorough. And this kind of stuff happens more often at other nearby high schools, like Great Mills, but it got reported because it was at our school, which is like a 90% white upper-class demographic, rather than the other high schools' more eclectic socioeconomic and racial makeups.

Post comments about anything similar happening to you. Sorry for the incoherence and apparent illegibility of my post, it's just that I'm trying to dump everything out at once.

**EDIT: There's a news recording on tonight at 10. I'll record it with my new TV tuner card, DivX and upload if I have time.

Haha, I wonder what those two guys were thinking when they saw the SWAT team show up!

Interesting story anyway, we never had any excitement like that at school. Although I'm probably glad we didn't.

Bomb threats happen a lot more often than someone actually bringing a handgun to school. You don't hear of schools ever getting blown up, but where have been some pretty gruesome school shootings. I'm not saying that we shouldn't take bomb threats seriously - but I think that's probably why they take someone bringing a gun to school more seriously.

Just thank allah the holly and merciful it wasnt columbine all over again.

I feel for you man. :(

Naw, on a serious note, I'm just glad everyone was OK. It may seem a little extreme, but I'm glad to see so many precautions being taken.

Wow. I'd be in awe if I saw the SWAT team too!

My closest experince to something 'criminal' happening at my school is just last friday. Supposidly I 'bi-passed sercurity' on the computer system when I 'taught' someone how to use net send to send it to everyone (net send * "message").

Go figure, something like that can give you a week break (suspension...)

They say they know I didn't do anything wrong, they just don't want me to become a hacker. And they are useing me as an example to all hackers at my school.

Out of all the tech people at my school including teachers and administrators they don't know the difference between 'cmd' and 'regedit'. So my point is, they don't have to worry about hackers...

They are also saying I was messing around in command prompt, which I wasn't. Rather I was messing around in 'administrator tools' but if I tell them that I would prolly get in more trouble :).

I UNDERSTAND ZERO TOLERANCE FOR HACKING. THAT IS A GOOD RULE. BUT REMEMBER I WASN'T HACKING.

The dumbest thing I have ever read.

You are the only person on this message board that I think about not meeting.

Ghost: I am prejudice towards ignorance, so that would explain why I appear to be so.

A few years back, a group of individuals robbed a bank, and since it was close to my high school, the entire school went on lockdown. After lockdown was over and they were starting to let the students out, they decided to seek shelter at my high school. Someone saw them coming in and tried to close the gates, but they did make it past, and the security guy and my bio teacher basically tackled them down until an arrest could be made. This happened a year after I graduated, and we were furious that nothing that cool ever happened when we were there.
