Shannon told me to make a tut about something, so I started thinking,

 

and I made an easy tutorial, for those who are new to photoshop.

 

 

 

The good thing is, you dont need to download anything.

 

How it will end up:

 

 

 

 

Lets start:

 

 

 

Step 1: Create a new canvas, by clicking

 

File>New> (Width 300, Heigth 150)With a white background.

 

 

 

Step 2: Grab the Gradient tool, and make sure youve got the colours black and white selected.

 

 

 

 

Dont forget to check and uncheck these:

 

 

 

 

Step 3: Now you drag lines with your mouse, and do this upto 15-20 times, when you see some kind of tunnel showing up.

 

 

 

 

 

 

the result: (without the glowing light)

 

 

 

 

I couldnt get it exactly right, the light will come later.

 

 

 

Step 4: colour. When youve done this, you press 'Ctrl + U', you click 'colorize' and you start playing with the colours.

 

(Tip: Put Lightness a bit to left, Saturation to Right, and the Hue you can dicide.)

 

 

 

Step 5: Now youve got something like this:

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 6: Now press 'Filter>Render>Lens Flare' And put the light into the tunnel, bottom left, the light must not be to big.

 

 

 

Step 7: For a 'Grungey' effect, you press 'Layer>New>Layer' and press ok.

 

Step 8: when youve got this layer selected, you press Right click on your Gradient tool(left in the vertical bar), and select the Paint Bucket tool.

 

 

 

Step 9: Dont panic, now you select the colour Black and you click on your image, this will fill up in black then.

 

 

 

Step 10: Press 'Filter>Render>Clouds' and there will appear clouds, and then you go to the bottom right of your screen, and select Vivid light:

 

 

 

 

 

 

Well ur quite done, now we add a border to finish:

 

 

 

Step 11: Press the Rectangular Marquee tool:

 

 

 

 

then you press Right click on ur image, Select all>Right click>Stroke

 

 

 

Then: press '4 px' in the Center, then click ok.

 

 

 

 

Then you press Stroke again, but this time 1 px with the colour white (instead of black,above) in the Center and press ok

 

 

 

then press Right Click> Deselect and ur done!

 

 

 

Result:

 

 

 

 

(its 30k, for those who like it they may have it.)

 

 

 

I hope you learned from this tutorial, Now you know a bit more about getting along in photoshop, without downloading any extra tools, like brushes :)

Good tutorial, but one question: With gradient, you don't need to change it to difference or whatever, do you?

These are so easy to make I might just forget about MSPaint when creating signatures. Woopidoo-do you know how to make one of these with a render from a site? Also do you know where to get already-cropped renders? I might try to improve on this sort of thing, it's awesome!

Too plain; Too little colours, text is too plain, hard to read, and try not to overuse Lens flares... Seldom do you see a sig that actually uses a lens flare properly/well.
