Guest TaDaraCampbell
i am currently @ 53 smithing (a few k exp away from 54) and i was smithing steel plates, but ive found out that this is horribly slow exp, especially since making the bars alone takes hours upon hours and is absolutely boring! if you can provide some tips from experience it would be greatly accepted. chenw
i didnt say high alching, i said sell your steel bars. Steel bars sell for at least 600ea. ask howdydee for more advice, he is a superior expert than i am in this field. 6,924th to 30 hunting, 13,394th to 30 summoning, 52,993rd to 30 DivinationKiln Record (Post-EoC): W 25 - L 0, 14 Uncut Onyx, 8 Jad hits received (Best record: Two in the same kiln)Obby set renewed post update #2: 0QBD drops: 21 crossbow parts, 3 Visages, 1 Kites, 2 KitsMax Port Score [2205] Achieved: 27th April 2013 (World 2nd) Farmyard Rampage ranking: 12th, 50,000 Kills. Howdydee2003
There is no way you can make money off of Buying Bars,Smithing Bars, and trying to sell the results on F2p. If your trying to gain exp and money. Smelting Steel bars is about your only option on F2p. Without any of the fancy rings or guants from p2p... Your really much out of luck to get alot of smithing exp and not waste loads of money. Sorry? lol. Thats unless you mine and make everything yourself :) 100% profit. Latona
P2p does offer a lot more benefits for the smither than f2p. Selling steel bars is basically the only option for lower level smithers to make money from the smithing skill. The experience isn't great for it, but at least it doesn't cost you. P2p on the other hand can take those steel bars, turn them into cannonballs and make a profit - or they can make lower items like iron knives and smith them at breakeven cost, or making a profit. Not to mention the gold ores - I still remember Howdydee2003 and a few others all of us working gold ores before Jagex allowed people to change the gauntlets :P Smithing is a skill that will cost money unless you are prepared to put in a lot of work in supplying your own ores - especially on f2p... good luck on the skill though. Miner_I
Uh.. smithing is just one of those skills where if you want it very high you have to dish out lotsa cash, especially in f2p. If you want an estimate it cost well over 100M to get 99 smithing in f2p (buying steel bars). I suggest working on making money first (such as through merchanting) before working on smithing. Those ideas of making and selling steel bars are great unless you want a high smithing level... From where you are, you would need to smelt close to 300k steel bars for just level 90 smithing, over 700k bars for 99.. so smelting is not really an option for high levels unless you are really patient. Doomster
Al-Kharid is the best F2P forge Varrock (west bank) is the best anvil Even at 50% success, Iron can work just as well in F2P For an average of 14 bars per load of 28 ores, at 37.5 XP smelted and smithed, Iron is 525 XP per load. For 9 bars from 27 ores (9 Iron, 18 Coal), at 55 XP smelted & smithed, Steel is only 495 XP per load. The only real drawback of Iron, is that you are standing for 28 furnace operations instead of 9, and you do more anvil work for items of lower value. The advantage of Iron, is that it's faster to mine or cheaper to buy than coal, mitigating the longer processing time.

whirlyboy
Take 120k out of your bank, buy 1k coal for 120 each. Find someone to sell to who will buy for 150 or above: 150 each: 150k - 30k profit 160 each: 160k - 40k profit 170 each: 170k - 50k profit The max to sell for is i think 200 each You get the picture? -A Magical Flying Elephant -Blue bird who enjoys Chompy hunting (The head feathers)
shade_bandyt
dude buying ans selling coal will not give him any smithing exp if you want exp and cash, ask for it. make, say, 500 steel bars. dont forge the,. come on the forum and look for a thread where somebody is giving free exp and cash (they trade each steel bar for 2 coal and 1 iron ore and 25-60 gp) say you get 50gp per bar, plus ores, youd make the smithing exp for smelting 500 steel, plus youd make 25k in cash. make the ores into more steel and trade again. each trade you make more exp and more cash. at some point buy/mine more ores and make more bars for more cash and exp per trade as fantastic as it sounds, smelting steel only gives like 17.5 exp. so its like 8.7kexp when you make 500 bars. sounds good? at your level it is, at higher levels it sucks. but at least you can do this method untill you can make mith plates at 68 and explore other options. at least by then youll have cash and a lot more smithing/mining exp Are you a member with a full bank and cancelling your subscription?
