May 21, 200620 yr it would be nice to have an optional spellcheck function for users who are not the best at spelling. Thanks to DrCue at DeviantArt for the signature source
May 21, 200620 yr Great idea! http://phpbbhacks.com/download/3276 Maybe something like this? If it doesn't slow down the forums, that is..
May 21, 200620 yr In one of my threads farther down I suggested a spell checker. There is a link to it. If you guys use easyMOD to install mods, then installing this one should be a breeze since it is built with easyMod specs. .:: RSC Product ::..:: 116 Combat ::..:: 1777 Overall ::..:: Biggest Single Drop Log Ever ::.
May 22, 200620 yr Great idea! http://phpbbhacks.com/download/3276 Maybe something like this? If it doesn't slow down the forums, that is..While the hack is GPL, the spell checking service is not, but is still free. Unobtrusive ads are displayed in the checker and a link back is required. Not sure I like the sound of that. People can always just implement spellchecking into their browser themselves.. (eg. Firefox currently has it as an extension, and it's targeted at Firefox 2 (which is in alpha)) but I suppose this way it would probably get more people who are just lazy with their spelling... Where the bloody hell are you?
May 22, 200620 yr I'd rather a grammer checker than a spell checker. It's the people who just can't be bothered putting in even basic punctuation that pisses me off than those with bad spelling. And a mix of the both is just "get off the internet" kind of feeling. If you can't make the effort in either one of them, there is no point having something correct it all for you - otherwise you wont learn anything :-? Edit: Yes I know there are a lot of people who don't have English as their first language, that's not an attack on them, but more so at the people who have the "I'm a good speller I just don't try on the internet" attitude which has been used in defence of pathetic spelling many times before.
May 22, 200620 yr unfortunately as Sith and I have discussed after this thread was created, a spell check really cant be installed All the MODs that still have good functionality and are kept updated(like spellingcow) display their own ads to pay for the service, and as I cannot control the content displayed on such pages , I am unable to load them into our software. Personally I would take either cameron or jeppes advice and install another option if you personally want spellcheck functions As darkrick stated , most users just dont care how they type so they would just disable it. :( I like to fart silently but deadly in movie theatersArd Choille says (11:41 PM):I wouldn't dare tell you what to do m'dear
