flamestrike
Ive had my digital camera for like a year and a half to 2 years, ive only used it a few times cause basically it sucks. it was a cheap one and it just is a peice of crap. Im looking to spend some money on a new digital camera off ebay, but sadly i know nothing about them. I dont know which brands are good and which are not. My friend had a really really nice one that i seen a commercial for ( the commercial with the office guy taking pictures of the flowers and the fairy behind him making fun of the guy hes talking to) not sure what that one is called but it was really nice. Just wondering if someone could help me out with finding if some of these things are good or crappy.
Astralinre
If you're willing to dish out some dough, then you ought to spring for a nice SLR. I use a Nikon D50 and have been very pleased with it, but Canon has some nice products too. "In so far as I am Man I am the chief of creatures. Peter
I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-N1, and I like it a lot. Small enough to fit in my pocket, and 8.1 Megapixels (determines image size and influences quality). Has a bunch of different settings enough to be basically a manual camera, or it can be fully automatic where all you have to do is point and hit the button. Look it up. Downside: it's about $500 retail, but you can get it from Newegg.com or elsewhere for around $430. Other downside is that with 8.1 MP imagesize, you need a large memory card. I stepped up and got a 2 gig card for it, and I've filled it up a couple of times, so I'd say you need at least a 1 gig card... Those go for about $40. Well, since you're asking us, I'd highly recommend you don't go with that camera. First off, it's a brand that's not very well known (I'd consider myself pretty up to date with electronics, and I've never heard of this brand). Next, no optical zoom? So basically you can't zoom. Digital zoom severely diminishes the quality of the image even if it's 8X, so it's worthless. One thing I've noticed with electronics is you get what you pay for. So at the very least, go with a well known brand and get a lower end camera from them, and at least you know you can get good customer service, etc. If you want a good camera to last you, you might want to budget in more than $166 for a camera. trapical
Go for a cheap ($199) camera from a reputable company like Canon, Fuji, Olypus, Kodak, Nikon, etc. Try to stick with camera brands not electronics brands (Sony, Panesonic, etc) You want a minimum of the following -3 megapixels -3x optical zoom (digital zoom means nothing, you can do that on your computer in MS paint if you so want) -A camera brand you've heard of
