While doing barrows I have noticed some times I start out with an extra kill count

you killed a guy in the tunnels after looting the chest? I did that and I got an extra kc also...

Perhaps you poisened a monster down there and after you teleported, the monster died, thus giving you 1 killcount...

Nope, I use whip

that has happened to me also, 6 kc and have only killed 5 brothers before going in tunnels.

Maybe he's a witch that uses mystical powers to give him +1 KC :shock: ..... or perhaps it's just a bug...

It also works with monsters. If you did more than 50% of the damage to a monster, youd get a kill count.

you could have missclicked attack something then left and someone finished off.

No because It's happend twice and when You leave the crypt after opening chest(Coming out using the ladder) everything resets..And after opening chest the kill count thing disapears so when I leave even if I kill a Rat it wouldn't count

Even though it dosen't show up, you killed a monster more then 50%, and someone else finished it off giving you 1 kc, just hapened to me...

Maybe..I still think its glitch :P I usually don't attack things when im coming out

It's because you havent finished your last barrows run, it pics up from where you left it off.

Even so, if you half kill 1 on your way in and someone kills it once you've exited the tunnel, you get the kill count because you've started a new trip and you get the kill over the other guy. It happened to me a few times before, so I investigated it and if you kill something whilst leaving, after looting, you don't get the kill (USE GUTHANS if you want to investigate that!!). Not a glitch, been around forever.
