funky_nappy
Ok so here is the situation: I have a large moth (maybe a few inches in wingspan), sitting on my window). The window next to it is open, it is raining outside. It is hard to get close to because it often flies away instantly and lands somewhere else. I cannot really force something (like a glass) around it and trap it because then I cannot remove it from the window. I do not have any commercial bug killer, and I have found that they tend to be quite resistant to substitutes such as deodorant spray or furniture polish. Any ideas? I need help bad! apinagez
Close the window and leave it there. Or use flip flops? ^The most disturbing signature on Tip.it^Last.fm|HELLY KAYLA!|Oh the mehagurtz!|#Siencemakers"they care less about their spelling mistakes then I." - Lionheart"apinagez... let me
TheRealist
Ok at first I read the title and was like "You need help killing a moth...:|" Then I read how big it is and it's making me cringe. =( I have no ideas.
Phil
Don't kill it. Use a glass & a peice of paper to catch it, then let it go out the window?
Ragen
Do you mind making a mess? Because with my method that thing would explode.......... Smack it with a shoe. If its still alive smack it again. Repeat until it stops moving. J/k :D Real method - Get a peice of paper and a glass. Put the glass over it and slide the paper underneath so it cant escape. Then empty the trap outside and shut your window. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!
funky_nappy
ok its not possible to slide paper underneath because as soon as the paper touches its leg it flutters off. But apinagez - im liking the flip flops idea so im gonna go with that, ill let you all know how it goes :)
Tigra00
Don't kill it. Use a glass & a peice of paper to catch it, then let it go out the window? Yea. I used to kill bugs, but then I thought you know, if I was a bug and didn't know any better than to wander into that big ol' human's house and the big ol' human killed me, I would be a very sad little bug! So I catch them somehow and throw them outside usually. Sometimes I'll have to kill them (wasps) because they're dangerous to someone in my house who is allergic. Can't mess around then. :P Cetipeeds or whatever are the hard ones to catch, they run around every once in a while in my bathroom (just one every summer, pretty much, lol) and you have to catch those fast lil buggers. The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me! Tigra00
Oh, and don't touch it's wings, I'm told touching a moth's wings makes it unable to fly ever again. I was *told* it's because there is a powder on their wings that they need to fly (magic pixie dust ftw!!) and if it's wiped off, they can't, but I dunno. I just figured it's 'cause their wings would break. The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me! Anyways i had a great idea - ill get it with a hoover! And now it's all sucked up inside my hoover bag :).

Rose_2_Pure
Hehe, get a lighter, and hairspray, put the lighter about six inches from the hairspray bottle, and spray the moth. 8-) Rose
Phil
OK seeing as the author has dealt with the moth and the suggestions are just getting plain sick I'm locking this.
